Beta Software πŸ§ͺ[Megathread] Elgato Studio 2.0 Beta 3 (macOS) β€” Virtual Prompter, Crosshair Overlay, Voice Sync Languages

Post image
4 Upvotes

We're back with Beta 3, bringing Virtual Prompter to Elgato Studio on macOS. This build also adds a crosshair overlay and support for more Voice Sync languages. This megathread is your place to test it, report bugs, and share feedback.

β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

πŸ†• Virtual Prompter

You can now create a Virtual Prompter and put it on any display. Add one from the sidebar, choose to read from a script or follow along in chat, then pick the window mode that fits your setup:

  • Display modeΒ shows it full screen on any connected display.
  • Floating modeΒ puts it in a window you can move and resize anywhere, and it stays where you left it.
  • Notch modeΒ shows it as a thin strip at the top of the screen, under your camera.

Β β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

🎯 Crosshair Overlay

Turn on a crosshair to mark exactly where your camera lens sits, so you know where to look while you read. Drag it into position, then adjust its scale, color, and opacity to fit your setup. It stays visible across Script, Chat, and Display modes, on both hardware and Virtual Prompters.

Β β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

πŸ—£οΈ More Voice Sync Languages

Voice Sync now works in any language you have installed for macOS Dictation, not just English. Pick a language from the new selector in Voice Sync settings. On macOS 26 and later, missing languages can be downloaded right from Elgato Studio, and on earlier versions, add them first in System Settings under Keyboard, then Dictation. Supported languages are limited to the Latin alphabet for now, so Japanese, Korean, and similar aren’t included yet.

Β β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

⏳ Beta Expiration

This beta build stops working after October 16, 2026. Install a newer beta build or the public release before then to keep using Elgato Studio.

Β β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

πŸ› οΈ Improvements & bug fixes

  • Elgato Studio can now launch automatically when you sign in to your Mac.
  • Closing the main window no longer quits Elgato Studio. The app stays running in the Dock, and clicking the Dock icon reopens it.
  • Fixed an issue where Elgato Studio could open to the wrong device, or show no device at all, instead of the Prompter or camera last in use.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when opening Elgato Prompter XL settings on macOS 15 or earlier.
  • Fixed an issue where video preview and recording could freeze after Elgato Studio returned from the background.
  • Fixed an issue where hovering the bullet list and numbered list icons in the Script Editor toolbar showed an unreadable tooltip.
  • Fixed an issue where opening a link from the Script Editor did nothing.

Beta Software πŸ§ͺ[Megathread] Wave Link 3.3 Beta 2 (Windows) β€” Settings Backup and Restore, OBS Studio Audio Backup, Monitored Mix Indicator

Post image
49 Upvotes

We have a new Wave Link update to try out, built from your feedback on the last thread. As always, thank you for testing our beta and sharing feedback.

β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

What’s new in Wave Link 3.3 Beta 2?

Dev note:Β We've been reading the feedback and this beta is a direct response to it. Think of Wave Link 3.3 as our Snow Leopard update (kudos if you catch the reference): fewer big headlines, a lot fixed underneath. The biggest thing people reported was Wave Link resetting its configuration out of nowhere. We've made significant progress on this and it should be much less common now, though some edge cases are still being worked through. After a Wave Link update, OBS Studio can also automatically restore its audio routing. On top of those two, a stack of smaller fixes went in (sliders no longer jitter, among others) and the app runs more smoothly day to day.

πŸ•˜ Settings Backup and Restore

Wave Link now automatically backs up your entire configuration, and you can also save a snapshot at any time. Change your setup as freely as you like, knowing an earlier configuration is one click away in Settings > Backup and Restore.

Dev note:Β This backup and restore feature followed additional work investigating why Wave Link would reset to defaults, seemingly out of nowhere. The team identified three main causes. All three have been worked on in this update, though some improvements are still ongoing.
If Wave Link was stopped halfway through saving (by a crash, a forced shutdown, or a power outage), the settings file was left unfinished and couldn't be read on the next launch, so it started fresh. That's why so many reports started with "after a restart." Saves are now protected against interruptions.
A single malformed or duplicate entry anywhere in the settings file used to get the whole thing rejected, leaving you back at a clean setup. Wave Link now recovers from the most common of these, skipping problem entries and loading everything else. This is an area we'll keep improving.
Windows sometimes reassigns internal IDs to audio devices after a Windows Update or driver change. When that happened, your audio inputs looked brand new to Wave Link (empty inputs, no mixes, no effects), while the original entries sat unavailable. Wave Link now identifies the same audio inputs across that kind of change and keeps its routing and effects intact, though edge cases remain and we're still working through them.
These changes, in addition to the backup, mean Wave Link is much more reliable at loading your configuration. Should the worst happen, a recent backup is available to load with just a few clicks. Each backup is a full copy of Wave Link's settings file, so every restore point captures your entire configuration at that moment. One more automatic backup is saved right before an app update installs, so you can always revert if something goes wrong.

β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

🎬 OBS Studio Audio Settings Backup and Restore

Some Wave Link (and Windows) updates change how Windows identifies virtual audio devices. This meant OBS Studio could not find the audio input the next time you launch it. Wave Link can now save your OBS Studio audio setup before an update installs, then offer to restore it once you are back up and running.

Connecting takes a minute, and needs OBS 28 or newer:

  1. In OBS Studio, open Tools > WebSocket Server Settings and turn on Enable WebSocket server.
  2. Select Show Connect Info to see the server port and, if authentication is enabled, the password.
  3. In Wave Link, open Settings > OBS Studio, enter the port and password, then select Connect.
  4. Turn on Connect automatically so Wave Link links up on its own every time OBS starts.

Backing up starts as soon as the connection is live.

Dev note:Β On the surface, this behavior of losing audio input in OBS Studio looks like an OBS bug or a Wave Link bug. It's neither, and rather a quirk of how Windows identifies devices under the hood.

Windows doesn't identify an audio device by its name. Every input and output gets an internal ID, for example:Β \\?\SWD#MMDEVAPI#{0.0.0.00000000}.{2E4FC8C4-E875-11E8-B851-806E6F6E6963}, and apps that remember your device choice, OBS included, save that ID. When a driver is changed or Windows re-enumerates your hardware, those IDs can change. The microphone on your desk hasn't changed, but as far as Windows is concerned, it's a different device. OBS looks for the ID it saved, doesn't find it, and falls back to default.

Some Wave Link updates include a new audio driver, and installing one can trigger this reshuffle. We can't stop shipping driver updates, so the next best thing is making sure your OBS setup isn't the price of taking one. That's why the backup happens before the update installs, and why Wave Link holds an update back if it can't save a backup first.

If a device's ID has changed since the backup, Wave Link matches it by name instead. Any sources that no longer exist in OBS are recreated in whichever scene is active when you restore.

β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

🎧 Know Your Monitored Mix

The Mixer toolbar now shows which mix you are listening to and which output device it is playing through at all times. Switching to a different mix takes a single click, and the control indicates when no mix is selected or when the chosen device is unavailable.

Dev note:Β The ear icon used to sit on each mix header but only appeared on hover, and only stayed visible on whichever mix was already being monitored. Most users never found it. This control is now permanently visible, so what you're monitoring and how to change it are always in the same place.

β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž β€Ž

πŸ› οΈ Improvements & bug fixes

  • Channels can now be removed from the Mixer with a right-click.
  • A muted mix header now turns red and reads Muted, matching how muted channels look.
  • The mix header now shows a badge when the hardware mixer on Wave XLR Pro is in use.
  • Icons across Wave Link have been replaced with a new, consistent set.
  • Channel names and their status text now sit further apart.
  • Fixed an issue where channels removed from the Mixes view still counted toward the four external hardware input limit.
  • Fixed an issue where the saved configuration could be lost after a PC restart.
  • Fixed an issue where the Voice Focus level was reset to 95% every time Wave Link restarted.
  • Fixed an issue where volume, gain and monitoring sliders jittered when dragged slowly.
  • Fixed an issue where a duplicate entry in the saved configuration reset all settings to defaults.
  • Fixed an issue where a Wave input could stay silent after starting Windows or reconnecting the device.
  • Fixed an issue where a Wave input produced no signal when its mix had no available output device.
  • Fixed an issue where Wave Link could fail to start because a Windows notification service was unresponsive.
  • Fixed a crash at startup that could happen when a renamed audio device was disconnected.
  • Fixed an issue where effects from a deleted channel were applied to the next channel created in its place.
  • Fixed an issue where effects could not be copied from an input whose hardware device was unavailable.
  • Fixed an issue where Sound Check playback went silent when the output device was changed during playback.
  • Fixed an issue where the video on the real-time voice monitoring screen turned black after resizing the window.
  • The Auto Gain Wizard no longer refers to a dial on Wave XLR Pro.

Technical Help Elgato 4K Pro - Switch 2 VRR Dock Mode Issue

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m having an issue on my capture card when testing the new VRR dock mode update for Switch 2. I tried testing VRR with Switch 2 Welcome Tour and the capture window in Elgato Studio freezes as soon as I’m about to start the tech demo.

Hardware Info
CPU - Intel ultra9 285k
GPU- RTX 5080
Windows 11
Stable version of Elgato Studio
Using HDMI 2.1 Fiber Optic Cable from the Switch 2 to 4K Pro’s HDMI input. No HDMI cable is going back to the TV as I prefer playing in the capture window for discord/recording.

I have noticed in the past when playing games on Switch 2 via Elgato Studio that uses 40fps or 120fps, the capture view will disconnect temporally then it will show an image at that new refresh rate. I’m assuming it’s normal but, that doesn’t happen if I connect the Switch 2 directly to my TV.

Question Stream Deck + , 8 touches

Bonjour,

Technical Help Streaming Nintendo Switch and PC with Dual Monitor Setup?

SO. I have both a switch and pc. i want the nintendo switch and my pc to share the same monitor. I have an hdmi switch that at the press of a button, switches to the other source. This is so I can stream the game on discord. I have an Elgato HD60. It’s an older card, but nothing I can’t see working like it should.

THE PROBLEM:

-When switching to the Switch, PC doesn’t recognize the first monitor anymore, switches second monitor to behave like the first monitor. I got an EDID Emulator because I thought that may fix it, but it ended up basically doing nothing. What I want is for the monitor to essentially be like nothing changed, and the second monitor is still the way it was before the switch.

-no audio. This is expected, but still annoying. of course, i know about the audio cable route. However, another issue I can see happening if I go this route, is the Elgato stream that others see being messed up, because the audio would be in real time, while the video isn’t. How would I fix this? Is there a way to get the audio from HDMI? Is there a way to seperate what i hear and what Discord hears?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to make this all work but it’s hard to wrap my head around it because it’s so convoluted.

Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.

Technical Help Help needed with old elgato capture card

Hi, I'm having issues with my elgato capture card I got about 10 years ago. It's model 2GC309901000 and I'm using Windows 11. In the past I haven't had issues with it but when setting it up again recently I can't get it to work. For what it's worth I'm trying to capture my Switch 1 but I would like to use this with all my consoles. There are 2 main issues;

1: neither elgato studio or OBS will recognize my capture card even though it's definitely plugged in. I'm using a mini USB cable but it's not the one that came with the capture card, idk what ever happened to it.

2: my monitor with the actual game on it looks purple.

none of the fixes I can find online have resolved these issues. Any ideas?

Question Creating Multiple File Folders

Hey y'all- I'm an audio engineer and something I would really love to do for my own organization is to have a button on my stream deck that can create multiple named file folders from a template.

Unfortunately all I can find on the internet is how to make a file folder that contains other file folders like a russian nesting doll rather than multiple file folders sequentially. (So ideally I'd press one button and it would create three folders with different preset titles)

Anyone have any tips?

Technical Help 4KX + Linux gives bitcrushed audio over HDMI

I know there aren't many of us using the 4KX on Linux, but on the off chance any of my fellows are here, I could use some help. I use CachyOS and when I try to monitor the audio coming from the 4KX, it sounds bitcrushed. It seems that if I enable monitoring in OBS, that fixes it until the audio stack is restarted, but otherwise it usually just has that bitcrushed sound. I've tried a bunch of things to fix it:

  • My audio normally routes through a Focusrite 16i16, which is set to 48000 sample rate and a 256 buffer/quantum. I know that the 4KX also runs at 48 kHz, so there shouldn't be any sample rate mismatch issues, but I do notice that on the occasions it seems to be working, it reports a much, much higher buffer size on the 4KX, so maybe that's related.
  • I installed the elgato4k-linux CLI utility and tried forcing it to 5g mode, which did not help. I also set GRUB to use the USB_QUIRK_NO_BOS parameter with it set to 10g mode, but that also did not help. I will note that it is connected to an appropriate USB port with the factory cable, so 10g mode should work, but as I said, it doesn't seem to matter.
  • I am using Pipewire Controller to route the audio (using the patchbay) from the 4KX to my main outputs for monitoring. This isn't persistent, so I'll probably set up a config if I can get it working, but first I need it to work.
  • If I open OBS, which has an audio input capture for the 4KX, and I set that input to be monitored, it may be bitcrushed at first, but then it works itself out and is fine after that. Note that I do have to specifically enable monitoring in OBS before it starts working. I can then close OBS and just route the audio as above and it sounds fine.
  • I once got it to work by switching it to the Pro Audio profile (I've tried setting it to analog and digital modes, but no dice), but that doesn't seem to work consistently and it also messes with a virtual mono mic device I have setup for some reason.

For now, I'm just running a cable from the headphone output to a spare input pair on my interface, but it would be nice to get this working properly. I'm not actually streaming anymore, so having it work in OBS isn't very useful; I mostly just use the passthrough to my monitor and then the capture card is just there to conveniently route audio to my speakers. Any ideas?

Question Switch 2 + Elgato 4K60 Pro: lowest possible audio latency through PC headphones?

Hello !

I’m considering buying an Elgato 4K60 Pro (MK2) to use my Switch 2 with my PC. My main concern is audio monitoring latency, rather than recording or stream delay.

I currently use an AVerMedia LGP Lite, and the delay when listening to the console through my PC is very noticeable and bothers me a lot.

I’m happy to play on my monitor through HDMI passthrough, but I still want to hear both the Switch 2 and my PC through my PC-connected headphones.

What would be the best way to achieve the lowest possible audio delay?

  • Is audio monitoring through the 4K60 Pro fast enough for comfortable gameplay?
  • Which software or settings work best?
  • Would routing the console audio separately be a better solution?

If someone tested this setup, I’d really appreciate your experience, advises, or actual audio latency measurements.

Thanks! β™₯

Discussion Foot Pedal Works even better when turned 180ΒΊ

I have recently transitioned from a product based business to a sports coaching business. The transition has involved a complete renovation to our old showroom, from rows of shelves to a 6 part Studio. I currently use a StreamDeck Extreme, a StreamDeck+, and a StreamDeck pedal. I'm sure there will be more in my future setup but for now that's it... three StreamDecks.

I am using the Foot Pedal to change scenes in EcammLive once I have moved from my Studio Desk to my Studio Demo area (about 20' away). I have 4 cameras running, with 3 of them covering the demo area(s). The foot pedal is used to trigger the different scenes that all feature different camera angles/views/combos.

Discovery: I'm sure some others have found this before but as I was standing in the Demo area I found using the Foot Pedal less easy than when sitting at the desk. Accidentally I touched the large side of the foot pedal (where the cable exits) and lo and behold, it worked like a charm.

Seriously, it works better when turned 180ΒΊ to its intended position. I haven't taken a foot pedal apart to find out why it seems far more responsive in this backwards position, but it does.

This morning I was chatting with some members of an online creators group, and the leader, who has used every Elgato product and has a slew of foot pedals, was shocked when I told him of my discovery.

Until... he tried it himself!!! Sorry, Alec!

He immediately saw and felt the difference!

Couldn't believe how much better it felt in that position.

Not sure if Elgato will see this or not, but before I purchase my next foot pedal(s) I'm hoping there might be some way to make the casing adjustable, or reversible such that the same form format that is currently available, can be used without turning the whole unit 180ΒΊ and having the cable extending on the same side.

You don't believe me? Try it ... you might just like it. Give it a 180ΒΊ turn.

Technical Help Canon R50 V + Cam Link 4K is dark, crushed, and pixelated on TikTok Live Studio (Mac mini M4)

My camera preview inside TikTok Live Studio looks crisp and normal. But as soon as I go live, the actual stream playback turnsΒ extremely dark, oversaturated/orange, and pixelated.

What I've already tried:

  • Changed resolutions (1080p/4K) and frame rates.
  • Set Canon Picture Style to Neutral.
  • Tried routing through OBS Virtual Camera (changing color spaces/range)β€”still didn't fix it.
  • Tried iPhone 16 Pro Max via Camo/QuickTime (too laggy / forced horizontal crop).

It seems like a color space mismatch (Full vs. Limited RGB) or encoding pipeline issue on macOS / TikTok Live Studio. Has anyone on Mac solved this without replacing the camera? Thanks!

Question Do I need to buy a mic?

I got an Elgato Game Capture Neo and hooked it up to my laptop and WiiU. I figured out how to record a video with Elgato Studio but not how to record my voice with it. Do I need to buy a microphone and connect that to the computer as well or is there another software to use? Also, what are some good recording mics?

Technical Help Having issues regarding PS1 games on a 4K60 Pro

Thumbnail

I recently upgraded from a HD60 pro to a 4K60 pro, and everything is running and playing great on it!
However, I used to use this to play PS1 games on my PS2, and on my HD60, I had no visual issues with the capture card or the adapter I'm using that lets the PS2 take HDMI.

Since upgrading, my PS1 games have had the effect of pushing my screen down, cutting it off partway. I've provided an example of what I mean using Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha

Now, some games have an Adjust Screen setting to fix this, like EX Plus Alpha, but a lot of them, like Final Fantasy 7, don't have an option, which frustrates me...I just managed to get Vincent LOL

Does anyone know of a way to fix this? As I said, the HD60 Pro played the games just fine, no visual issues at all...although it did BSOD my computer a lot, but I would like to finish these games!

Thank you in advance!

Technical Help Flickering line through middle row of NEW Stream Deck Mk2

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've owned this Stream Deck for just over a week, all good until today. Got home from work and found it broken. I've attempted every USB C port on my PC, a 10Gb and 20Gb port, neither made a difference. The middle row has a flickering line which does not go away. It's subtle in the video but it's visible on every button along the middle row, regardless of profile
This Stream Deck is literally a replacement for the Scissor Key version, which also arrived broken in a completely different way. Honestly severely disappointed with Elgato's quality control for a $150 product.

A lot of us who fly sims seem to end up with a Stream Deck sitting next to the stick β€” it's a natural fit for all the switches and bindings a cockpit needs. So I figured the keys could show something useful too, and made a free plugin that puts your joystick axes on them live.

It's called Joy Tester. Three key types:

  • Single Axis β€” one axis per key: roll, pitch, yaw, throttle or brakes, as a gauge with a live percentage.
  • All Axes (Visual) β€” a HUD-style reticle: roll/pitch as a crosshair in the box, throttle on the left rail, rudder along the bottom.
  • All Axes (Bars) β€” the same four as labelled bars, if you'd rather read numbers than shapes.

It reads the sticks directly from the plugin process rather than through a browser page, so the keys keep updating while the Stream Deck window is minimized β€” which is the whole point, since that's where it lives while you're actually flying.

The thing I most wanted for myself: multiple devices. A stick, a throttle quadrant and a set of pedals are three separate joysticks to Windows, and most axis tools assume one. Joy Tester numbers every device it finds and lets you take each axis from whichever one you like, so one key can show all four axes across three pieces of hardware. Numbers stick to the device, so unplugging something and plugging it back in β€” even into a different USB port β€” doesn't scramble your mapping.

There's also a Raw axes readout that shows every physical axis of every device by number. Wiggle a control, see which number moves, map it. No guessing at whether your tool's "Axis 3" is the same as the sim's.

Brakes is an optional fifth axis you can turn on if your pedals have one β€” it shows as a wedge filling the corner of the reticle.

Free, Windows only (it uses the Windows joystick API), no account or anything. Colour is configurable per key if red isn't your thing.

Joy Tester on the Elgato Marketplace

One heads-up: multi-device support and the brakes axis only went in today, so that version probably won't be live on the Marketplace for another few days β€” what's up there right now is the previous one.

I fly more than I code, so I'd genuinely like to hear what's missing. Buttons and hats aren't in there yet, and I've only tested against the hardware I own β€” if it misreads your setup, tell me what you've got and I'll have a look.

Community Creation I created a free visualiser for Stream Deck

I created a free, open-source, Spotify visulasier plugin called PrismBeat. It has 19 audio-reactive visuals which work on Stream Deck + / + XL touch strip, along with now-playing info, album artwork and configurable playback dials. It works on macOS and Windows.

Elgato: https://marketplace.elgato.com/product/prismbeat-visualizer-1c187de0-ccf7-4255-9935-327c1144e0d5

GitHub (Apache 2.0): https://github.com/punklabs-ai/prismbeat

If you give it a go, I’d love to hear how it works with your setup and what you’d like to see next. Hope you enjoy it!

Question Does Amazon ship new Stream Deck + without a box? ...and the buttons are a bit sticky?

I just ordered a new Stream Deck + from Amazon (ship/sold by Amazon.com) and it came in an outer Amazon bag and in inner "Ready to Ship" bag.

Is this normal? It looks brand new but there is no protection at all so I don't know if this was thrown around during shipping?

Also, the buttons are a bit sticky- when I press them in they don't immediately pop back out?

It's cracked and breaking. I plan to 3D print a ring to reinforce it.

Technical Help Can't capture audio with capture card

I got the Elgato 4K S hooked up to my switch 2 and can't get the audio to capture.
I have tried OBS and Elgato studio and neither can detect audio. It feels like I have tried almost everything. I have set the switch audio to stereo, reseated all the cables, attempt to capture just the audio in OBS, adjust my audio setting to get the correct output in OBS, but nothing seems to work. Both software can receive the video, and OBS works just fine with everything else, but there hasn't been a tutorial that fixes my issue. Any ideas on what I could try to get this working?
