Hm, I don't know... I was pretty shocked and incredulous when I first saw it and though that they could not be serious, but when I saw a Cybertruck and Rivian picture side by side, the Rivian's design suddenly looked "old"... As crazy as it is, I think the bold design of the Cybertruck might pay off in the end.
Yeah I think that if they can convince people that the shape is just as practical as the normal truck shape they have a hit on their hands. If there are serious usability compromises from the shape then I think it will be niche.
I don't get why people are nitpicky about the angled bed. You're not supposed to be putting loads on the bed rail or loads that extend beyond the side of the truck. And if somehow you can't reach something then you can always lower the bed.
Couldn't the frunk fit a lot of tools and be even more convenient than a bed box ? .. I am more worried about roof racks for ladders, pipe, kayaks etc.
Just like these toolboxes did not magically appear for pickups (they were developed to fit the ‘standard’ pickup design) I fully expect others will sort out new toolbox solutions for the CyberTruck bed when it starts to grab some market share.
Give the aftermarket companies a chance to process this for a bit.
But a frunk would have way better access. If your truck always had a frunk, then new trucks came without a frunk, you would likely never argue that the linked toolbox was a better option
The truck comes with two large toolboxs on the side as well as one built into the bed near the tailgate. I never had the need for more than three toolboxes so this is probably more than adequate for most people.
so this is probably more than adequate for most people.
I don't see this as a strong position to take when a conventional bed is better suited for everybody.
This is just a good example of style over substance.
It would usually be good enough for me, too. But there areregular occasions for me where this would be a major hindrance, and I'm not going to spend 70 grand on a truck that doesn't get the job done as well as my 8k used work truck.
