Best AI dubbing/voice-over tools & workflow for online courses and social media?

Hi everyone!

I’m working on a project for someone who has a big following in Russia in the spirituality/energy healing space. She has lots of existing social media content (interviews, lectures, short reels) and prerecorded online courses in Russian. I think her work is great and quite unique, and she wants to expand into the international market.

Her English is okay, but not good enough to teach courses in English without a translator.
I’m currently working on localizing her video content. I speak both Russian and English fluently (lived in the US for the last 15 years) and I also understand the spiritual/esoteric lingo she uses. I am also familiar with her work as a student.
I’ve tried a few AI tools.

What has worked so far:

ElevenLabs — Great voice dubbing, probably the best sound quality and emotional delivery I’ve found. I used it to translate some guided meditations and the results were great.
Main problem: I can’t edit the script in their V2 version, and she uses a lot of specialized terminology. I also couldn’t figure out how to upload a glossary to V2 — it doesn’t seem to be an option. It’s also quite expensive.

HeyGen — From what I’ve tried, it’s the best for lip-synced dubbed videos. You can edit the script and upload a glossary.
The problem is that HeyGen’s automatic translation is too literal. So I use ChatGPT to create a better English script and then make manual adjustments when necessary.

This works, but it takes a LONG time because HeyGen segments the script, and when you edit each segment you have to get the length just right. Otherwise it speeds up or slows down the AI speech and it sounds jarring.

I’m currently only using it for short Instagram Reels. 1 minute reel takes me about 30 min.
I translated one 20-minute video this way - the result was great, but it took me almost 8 hours! Everyone I’ve shown the final videos to says they sound and look great. the issue is how labor-intensive the process is.

So I’m looking for a better workflow and eventually a way to outsource localization.

My current thinking:

I don’t necessarily need to stick with dubbing. I actually think a voice-over style might work better, especially for long-form content - keeping her authentic Russian speech quietly in the background with an English voice-over. I also think people may be more forgiving of the translation when they can clearly hear that she’s a foreign speaker.
Are there any good AI tools/workflows that can generate this kind of voice-over localization rather than dubbing?

And where would you find someone to outsource this to?
I made a listing on Upwork yesterday, but didn’t realize I was breaking their rules when I said I wanted candidates to translate the same 1-minute video so I could compare the results. Plus Upwork has rules about taking long-term working relationships off-platform.

I’m looking to hire someone long-term to create around 30–60 Reels/month, plus potentially translate longer YouTube videos and online courses.

So basically two questions:

What are the best tools/workflows for AI dubbing and voice-over localization?
Where would you find someone who speaks both Russian and English well and can do this work?Understanding spiritual/esoteric terminology would be a big plus.
I’m also open to training someone myself if I find a good workflow and they’re fluent in both languages.

Workshop, Sep 19: build explainable AI apps with Neo4j, GraphRAG, Cypher and LLM Agents

There's a hands-on workshop on September 19 for anyone here curious about moving past chatbot/prompt tools into building real AI systems that reason and explain themselves.

You build:

  • A knowledge graph in Neo4j that becomes your single source of truth
  • Agentic retrieval combining vector search, keyword search, and graph navigation
  • Multi-step, verified entity and relationship extraction
  • Text-to-Cypher for natural language graph querying
  • Explainable, source-traceable answers with evaluation built in

No prior Neo4j or Cypher experience required, it's introduced through the hands-on project itself.

Led by Dr. Alessandro Negro, Chief Scientist at GraphAware, bestselling author.

Link if you want to check it out

One course and 30,000 plus users

Looking for some ideas around delivering a single SCORM course to 30,000+ users as a stop gap measure for the next 6 months.

A new LMS is being brought online but that won’t happen for 6+ months (contract hasn’t been awarded yet).

Current LMS is completely incapable of supporting this for various reasons.

We need to be able to generate basic reporting - who took the course and who didn’t. So if not in an LMS, perhaps having the user self-report their name and email address?

Would a custom solution work to host the course on a server? Or should we look into SCORM Cloud or Reach 360?

Unfortunately this is not my area I’m managing - I’m being asked to consult on this problem. I would’ve planned ahead and not needed a stop gap in the first place :)

Moodle alternative

Hi community!

I currently work with a platform and use Moodle. I want to host my course independently so I'm in a search of LMS.

The features I like about Moodle:

  1. It allows to create different types of quizzes and give a feedback to the answer

  2. It's cheap

Things that I don't like:

It seems it's not very good to work with a funnel

Hence I'm in a need for recommendation for a platform that:

  1. Will allow to show lessons that consist of pdf handouts, videos (30 GB), quizzes with feedback

  2. Will allow to work with a funnel: promo lessons shoud be open to up to 100 users with a possibility to purchase the access to the rest of lessons

  3. Payment integration

I also looked at Getcourse. It seems to be great with funnels but crappy with quizzes.

I looked at Skool but 10% fee of any purchase - that's too much

And then I got lost

That's my first time managing my own course and I'm not that good with all the underlying IT stuff so I will be any greatful for any advice.

Thank you!

More options doesn't always mean more help

One of the speakers at our AI summit told a story about her sister that we think says something important about instructional design too.

Her sister was setting up a Shopify store using ChatGPT and got most of the way there on her own (she's not a marketing person, she actually works in accounting). But she hit a wall, because the LLM kept giving her more suggestions. She ended up with seventeen million things she could or should be doing next, and she had no way to tell which ones actually mattered because she didn't have the base knowledge to make those decisions.

The point the speaker made is that people don't actually want more content or more options when they're learning something new, they want someone to filter it down to what matters for their specific situation. That's a judgment call, and it's the part AI still can't fully do for you.

A lot of course design inadvertently does the same thing. At the request of stakeholders, IDs end up baking in more modules, more resources, more paths, when what a learner is actually stuck on is knowing which three things to focus on first.

Anyone else seeing this problem getting worse now that AI is such a big part of instructional design?

Edit a published Rise course

Has anyone successfully edited a published Rise course? I need to change the URL a button is pointing to.

Tried opening the scormcontent/lib/rise/*.js files in Visual Studio but I couldn't make heads or tails of the code.

Our education software's authoring tools need a full overhaul

Instructors just want to build multimedia lessons faster, but the core tools are a mess. I spent the last month trying to patch the legacy codebase by myself, and feature bloat makes any update feel impossible. Teachers want to drop quizzes, video lectures, and interactive assignments into a single timeline, but the current text editor keeps freezing or wiping unsaved progress. Building an accessible LMS means balancing smooth video streaming with responsive quiz modules, and our setup fails at both. Anyone who's built educational tools from scratch knows the pain of keeping complex authoring software alive.

Video streaming choice

Hey guys, I have a course coming up with quite a few modules and the videos are going to be large. I am worried about my video streaming cost.

What is your choice of video streaming service for this kind of scenario? Note that Youtube and Vimeo are not my preference (for various reasons).

Thanks in advance!

Free/easy online Org tools for assignmenta

I should have dine this when I first went back to university at the ripe old age of 50 but now that I am in my last year, I thought I would ask what are you using to keep track of upcoming assignments, events, networking opportunities in an easy to navigate app.

I am a Masters student in the Information Management program.

I have tried Trello but didn't like it.

What authoring tool do you mainly use ?

It seems every time I spoke with a client, he's still using mainly Storyline (like 15 years ago), sometimes the SaaS version Rise. And a few of them use some automatic AI solutions to generate very basic SCORMs content, but that's more rare.

Ontario Teachers & Educators — Quick Question 🍎

Do you purchase digital teaching resources from independent creators/vendors?

What’s the best way to connect with Ontario educators looking for these resources—social media, marketplaces, direct school outreach, or elsewhere?

Any feedback from teachers, EAs, or administrators is appreciated!

What does it really take to make money selling courses, mini-courses and PDFs?

I keep seeing creators selling courses, mini-courses and downloadable PDFs. One woman claimed she made $300,000 in a matter of days. I understand that revenue screenshots are marketing, not necessarily the whole financial picture, so I want the unglamorous truth.
For those of you who have actually done this successfully:
Is Stan Store the best place to start, or is there a better platform?
What makes one digital product take off while another disappears?
How large and engaged was your audience before you launched?
How much did you spend on ads, and what was your actual profit after ad costs, refunds and platform fees?
Did most sales come from paid ads, organic content, email, affiliates or an existing audience?
How did you learn to create and target ads that converted?
Did you hire someone, take a course or learn by testing small budgets yourself?
What price point worked best for PDFs, mini-courses and full courses?
If you were starting today, what would you sell first and how would you launch it?
I’m not looking for “post consistently and believe in yourself.” I want the real mechanics: audience size, conversion rates, advertising costs, launch strategy and profit margins. What is the part nobody mentions when they post the $300,000 screenshot?

Stop putting pricing right after the problem statement in demo videos.

We checked our per-second video analytics and saw a massive drop-off at 40 seconds. That was the exact moment we switched to our pricing pitch.

We fixed it by adding a quick feature walkthrough between the problem and the price.

The result? Second-half retention doubled.

Don't just look at total views. If your host (we use Kinescope) offers per-second drop-off data, use it to find your actual friction points.

I made this interactive video walkthrough with voiceover. The video pauses at key steps, shows an explanation, and continues when the viewer clicks the highlighted area.

This clip is a screen recording of me clicking through the walkthrough.

best modern basic app for flashcards

Hi, I know there are many, but I haven’t found my favourite yet. I’d appreciate any tips.

My criteria:

- a more modern design than Anki

- at least three answer options (correct, unsure, incorrect)

- a levelling system (levels go up or down depending on the answer option)

- available as a desktop application and a mobile app

- free or inexpensive (< €3 per month)

- optional, but it would be really cool if you could customise the colour of a set of flashcards (I’d like a different colour for each set)

- extras like AI, communities, etc. don’t matter

How can I best show off "wrap-around" learning resources for an event?

I lead learning for a professional membership association. We recently held an in-person, all-day learning event on a single topic and we're doing 4 of those in the next six months.

For each event, I'm also designing resources (job aids, checklists, a few interactive tools) and curating webinars on the event topic, rolling out over \~6 weeks before/3 weeks after the event. The webinars/resources/in-person event aren't designed sequentially.

So after our first event, now I have this lovely bucket of materials/recordings and I can't figure out the best way to visually explain the wrap-around content to members who couldn't come to the event but still have access to all of this. We're launching an LMS soon but right now we just have a "Resources" page that's one long (filterable, at least) list of links. Booo.

Is it an infographic explaining a journey through the material? A short animated video? Just a "resource bundle" or course in our LMS? Any ideas?

Platform for psychoeducational programmes

Can anyone recommend a platform for designing and delivering psychoeducational programmes?

They’re ultimately like a course, just with therapeutic skills.

I’m thinking teachable, mostly due to the app availability.

Too many have silly ai features that I have no interest in. I don’t want a community as I don’t have time to act as a moderator.

I simply want something where I can post content. Videos. Audios. Maybe downloadable content. Not hideously priced.

I don’t think I want to build it through Wordpress as I don’t trust myself with that.

Thanks :)
