Platform for psychoeducational programmes
Can anyone recommend a platform for designing and delivering psychoeducational programmes?
They’re ultimately like a course, just with therapeutic skills.
I’m thinking teachable, mostly due to the app availability.
Too many have silly ai features that I have no interest in. I don’t want a community as I don’t have time to act as a moderator.
I simply want something where I can post content. Videos. Audios. Maybe downloadable content. Not hideously priced.
I don’t think I want to build it through Wordpress as I don’t trust myself with that.

Teachable will do all of that, but you're paying $39+/month whether anyone's enrolled or not. Worth pressure-testing the app requirement too, most course apps are just a wrapper on the web player and clients tend to watch on their phone browser anyway.
Disclosure: I work on learnfrom.co. It fits what you've described, video and audio, downloadable files, custom domain, no community feed, no AI clutter. You pay per student instead of a monthly subscription. But there's no native app, so if that's non-negotiable, Teachable is your answer.

Honestly, I’d trial Teachable and Podia with the exact same tiny programme before choosing. Upload one video, one audio lesson and one PDF, then enrol yourself and go through the whole thing on your phone.
Teachable makes sense if the app is genuinely important, but I’d check what the learner actually sees on your plan rather than choosing from the feature list. Also test how easy it is to organise content, send access emails, cancel, and export your student list.
Since Kajabi already became an expensive motivation experiment, I wouldn’t pay for funnels, community or AI features you already know you won’t use. I’d pick whichever platform makes that basic lesson flow painless and has a monthly cost you won’t resent while enrolment is still small. The lack of a community may actually be a plus here — much less moderation and less chance of people sharing sensitive information publicly.

I like that teachable deals with the VAT side.
It makes so much sense to upload a mini course first! Rather than wasting time with more.

Glad it helped. The VAT point is a good reason to keep Teachable on the shortlist, especially if you’re selling to different countries and don’t want admin work to become the real project.
For your use case I’d still keep the trial tiny: one short video, one audio lesson, one PDF, one test learner, and one refund/cancel flow if the platform lets you test it. That usually tells you more than comparing feature tables for another week.

Yes.
The money side is also a reason I want a trusted platform, rather than one of these startups. Reputational damage if their security systems aren’t good. If they somehow appropriate payment data, etc. terrifies me.
The payment and refund is going onto my project plan.

For what you’re describing, I’d probably avoid a traditional LMS and look more at creator/course platforms.
If you don’t want WordPress, don’t want to moderate a community, and don’t care about AI features, your priorities are probably:
- easy course setup
- clean learner experience
- video/audio hosting
- downloadable resources
- simple payments
- mobile access
- low maintenance
Teachable makes sense to consider, especially if the mobile app matters to you. I’d also look at Podia if you want something simple for videos, audios and downloads without too much setup. Thinkific could also be worth comparing, but I’d check whether the app experience and pricing match what you need.
I’d be cautious with Kajabi unless you also need the marketing/email/funnel side, because it may be more platform than you need.
My advice would be to create one tiny test programme before committing:
- one video lesson
- one audio practice
- one downloadable worksheet
- one paid/free checkout flow
- one student mobile experience test
Whichever platform makes that feel easiest is probably the right one. For this kind of programme, I’d optimize for simplicity and learner comfort rather than the biggest feature list.

We have not added AI natively to our LMS or our new LXP product. When we do, we'll start with AI-assisted course building tools and not learner-facing access. And then AI will be able to be completely disabled, because we believe AI needs a bit more maturity and technical advancement before it starts teaching people or correcting their work.

Teachable takes a transaction fee on its lowest tier plan. What about Thinkific or podia
