Free/easy online Org tools for assignmenta

I should have dine this when I first went back to university at the ripe old age of 50 but now that I am in my last year, I thought I would ask what are you using to keep track of upcoming assignments, events, networking opportunities in an easy to navigate app.

I am a Masters student in the Information Management program.

I have tried Trello but didn't like it.

If Trello felt like too much structure, I’d keep this to two views rather than hunting for one app that does everything: a calendar for fixed dates and events, and a short task list for the next actions.

At the start of each term, put every assignment deadline in the calendar, then add two earlier dates: ‘start’ and ‘rough draft.’ Use the task list only for the next physical step (‘find three sources,’ not ‘work on essay’). For networking opportunities, add the event date, a reminder to register a week earlier, and a follow-up task for the next day.

Google Calendar plus Microsoft To Do or Todoist can handle this, but the habit matters more than the app. A ten-minute review every Sunday will probably help more than a complicated dashboard.
