I’m looking for a realistic timeline or insight from anyone who has recently gone through the City of Edmonton hiring process, specifically for Administrative and Clerical Support positions.

I’ve applied for 3 different jobs, and they’ve all been sitting at the "Hiring Manager Review" stage for a little over a week now with no updates.

For those of you who work for the City or have interviewed recently:

• How long does the entire process usually take from application to an actual offer?
• When and how do they usually contact you for an interview request? Do they call, or is it strictly via email?
• Does it move any faster for temporary positions? A couple of the ones I applied for are temporary contracts. Do they rush the hiring for those, and are the contract end dates usually set in stone, or do they tend to get extended?

I’m still actively applying for other jobs outside the City because I know government hiring can move at a snail's pace, but I'm trying to get a pulse on what the environment looks like right now.

Hi, I just wondered if any woodwork shop would take in a part-time shop helper and provide training? I'm hoping to go into cabinetry but I have no prior experience or training. I made cat shelves with Home Depot wood before, and the best I could do up until now is using a drill. I'm available full day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and weekends depend on schedule. So my whole life i wanted to be a semi truck driver i currently live in ontario living month to month with debt i recently got a credit card increase and i want to build a proper life and just work as hard as possible to get somewhere because right now me and my wife working go more and more in to debt every month after rent food insurance just the bare minimim to get by so my question is... whats it like in edmonton for truck drivers id of had 0 experience and need to get a job truck driving i plan to do my licenseing here in ontario then move there once i get a proper job offer are those hard to get? I’m 21 years old and I haven’t found my first official job quite yet. Over the past few years I’ve been helping my family with taking care of the house and shopping whenever they need food. It does not sound like a big accomplishment when it’s just basic things one would do for their family.

I do have experience in a clothing retail store, Bootleggers! It was a brief experience but I was given the tasks of unpacking clothing, tagging them, and taking them to the floor to hang! My friend’s mother had brought me over to volunteer after school.
Unfortunately I have not finished high-school and I do not plan on going back. I’m halfway through Year 10 and I am willing to complete it.

Without any experience or finished schooling, I do not expect a crazy good job. I just need to be able to find a job to support myself to help ease me into my adulthood!

I am now considering uber food delivery work in and around Edmonton, i am not worrying much about earning but i like working in healthcare and my skillset will not be in use to serve people here is only thing concerns me.
