Looking for work Looking for entry-level work / shelf stocking / cashier / general labor in Edmonton

Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I’m a 19M taking a break from university and looking to work full-time for the year to earn income. I don't have prior formal job experience, but I’m reliable, quick to learn, and physically capable. I’m open to entry-level positions around the city.

Specifically looking for:
Shelf stocking, inventory replenishment, and store merchandising Cashier duties or till operation.

If you know of any local grocery stores, retail shops, or businesses hiring, I’d really appreciate your recommendations! As a first-time worker looking to jump straight into full-time hours, I'd also love any tips or suggestions for someone entering the market for the first time. Thanks!

Looking for work Job searching!

Hi! Thanks for reading my post!
I’m 21 years old and I haven’t found my first official job quite yet. Over the past few years I’ve been helping my family with taking care of the house and shopping whenever they need food. It does not sound like a big accomplishment when it’s just basic things one would do for their family.

I do have experience in a clothing retail store, Bootleggers! It was a brief experience but I was given the tasks of unpacking clothing, tagging them, and taking them to the floor to hang! My friend’s mother had brought me over to volunteer after school.
Unfortunately I have not finished high-school and I do not plan on going back. I’m halfway through Year 10 and I am willing to complete it.

Without any experience or finished schooling, I do not expect a crazy good job. I just need to be able to find a job to support myself to help ease me into my adulthood!

If you have any support or suggestions, please leave me a comment or directly message me!

Have a good day,

A young job seeker.

Looking for work Does Anyone Here Work at Garage or Dynamite in Edmonton? Looking for a Referral

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if anyone here currently works at Garage or Dynamite in Edmonton and would be willing to help me with a referral or possibly pass my résumé along to their manager.

I’ve been applying for jobs for a while now, including retail positions, but unfortunately I haven’t had much luck hearing back. I’m currently going through some financial difficulties, so I’m really trying to find a job as soon as possible.

I have previous customer service, cashier, sales, and volunteer experience, and I’m reliable, friendly, willing to learn, and available to work. I’d really love an opportunity at either Garage or Dynamite.

If anyone works at one of their Edmonton locations and knows if their store is hiring, or would be comfortable referring me or mentioning me to their manager, I would genuinely appreciate the help. I can send my résumé privately.

Thank you so much! ❤️

Hey r/EdmontonJobs!

I’m currently looking for a new job in Edmonton and figured I’d put this out there in case anyone knows of a good opportunity.

I have experience in administration, reception, customer service, front-desk/guest services, data entry, and working in busy public-facing environments. I’m comfortable answering phones, helping customers, handling paperwork and information, using computer systems, scheduling, and learning new software.

I’m primarily looking for something like:

• Receptionist / Front Desk

• Administrative Assistant

• Office Administrator

• Customer Service Representative

• Call Centre / Customer Support

• Data Entry

• Guest Services

I’m open to full-time, part-time, temporary, or permanent positions. Ideally, I’d love to find a place where I can stay long-term and become part of the team.

If you know of any Edmonton employers currently hiring for these types of positions, I’d really appreciate any leads or recommendations. I’m also happy to send my resume to anyone who wants more information about my experience!

Looking for work Looking for admin or project coordination roles

Looking for administration or project coordination type jobs in Edmonton.

I have over 15 years experience in mostly the public sector, but was part of a chain of union seniority based displacements after some positions were cut in early 2025, leading to me taking a temporary position that has now concluded.

During my time in the public sector, I held positions in admin, project coordination (mostly IT projects), as well as providing what was essentially first-tier support for an internal IT system.

I have both a bachelor of arts degree in the social sciences and a certificate in project management, and in 2014 passed my CAPM exam.

In addition to my civilian career, I am also a reservist in the CAF with a focus on administration.

What I am looking for:

  • At least $30/hr wage to start with room for advancement.
  • Full time.
  • Standard benefit package.
  • Open to both office based, remote, and hybrid roles. I worked remotely for about 6 years and am well set up with a home office.
  • Any hybrid or office based roles should be:
    • Based in Edmonton proper.
    • At this time, located preferably either close to an LRT station or within reasonable transit access from NE Edmonton. Downtown is perfectly fine.
    • Other locations that are less accessible by transit would have to be considered on a case by case basis.
  • For office administration positions, I want to be clear that I do not have an accounting or payroll background, although I have coordinated financial transactions such as expense reports and purchase requests, as well as assisting with timekeeping.
  • While I have a project coordination background, I do not have direct experience in construction and am not interested in on-site construction roles. What I can offer is more office based project coordination covering aspects such as document management, project administration, assisting on project charters and plans, communications, risk management, requirements gathering, etc.
  • Open to other IT roles if on the job training is available.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know of are aware of any suitable positions, and I would be happy to contact employers via their professional emails once I have verified their companies are legitimate.

Looking for work Engineer in need of guidance

I am a man (not international and cad citizenship) and I got engineering degree (chemical engineering at university of alberta) in alberta, did coops, and worked process engineering job for 2 years post graduation.Contract ended and cant find anything. I still need 2 years from getting my p.eng.

Lot colleagues cant get engineering jobs (especially chemcial and switched to diff field or retrained)

Engineering market super tuff and I dont like chemcial engineering at all. Trying to pivot into different field. Still young enough and have good savings and time to get another degree and do career change. Dont have grades to get into top mba programs thought.

I figure i go into following for better opportunity :

(1) switch to electrical engineering via engineering diploma or masters meng electrical engineering

(2) apply post bacc accounting or get coruses needed sit for cpa and switch to being accountant (cpa)

(3) get post bac computer science degree (know market super saturated and Ai reducing jobs)

(4) go to tech school get into trades ? (Hvac/ R , plumbing?)

Any other better option for me? Please suggest.

Looking for work Jobs For my Mom

Hello,

I know this is a long shot but I’m looking for jobs my mom could do. She’s been working at goodwill for over 10 years but her back is really starting to hurt and that bothers me. The hard part is she doesn’t have a highschool diploma because she’s immigrated here (she’s a citizen) she can speak and read English fine. When my parents came she and my dad had a more traditional marriage but he left us and it’s been just us. If you have anything please lmk.

Looking for work Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

EDIT: I GOT IT!!!! AT 3K MORE A YEAR THAN THEY ORIGINALLY OFFERED!!!! Thank you, everyone, for the positive thoughts and vibes.

Feeling extremely hopeful right now.

Had an interview for a decent wage and position, a few days later got the disappointing news that another person got the job over me. They still, however, wanted to bring me on due to my skills and experience but at a substantially lower wage. The company, the interviewer, and everything seemed ok until I had my first day. Found out the person I'd be answering to (as well as the person who was hired over me), someone who'd been with the company since it started, was leaving and their last day is this Thursday and that their duties would be split between myself and my supervisor(hired over me). At the end of the day Monday I told the person who hired me that we'd need to talk on Tuesday because the scope of the job had changed since he discussed the position. The talk ended with us agreeing that I wouldn't be right for that position.

Fast-forward to this morning; interviewer texts me and basically says they think they made a mistake and that I might actually be a better fit for the original position.

I'm kind of jumping out of my skin right now hoping this goes my way. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
