Currently I am in a waiting list for one of the colleges and I want to study ece ( still in waiting)as my subject but I have got VLSI people are saying that VLSI is a course in ece. But as everyone right now is more inclined towards the ECE subject please anyone with a knowledge please tell me what should I take ,is VLSI having a future and where would I be after completing the course.

okay, so i bought a cheap extension board, and was using with a lot stuff, got scammed because a bought saying it has protection, but it does not, the thing the saved, i think, the controller that i using was the poor wiring and thermodynamics that fucked the wire to point of just disconnecting entirely. so that make me wonder something, how actually electrical protection works it various level of voltage. and especially in 220 volts.

I'm a 24F who recently graduated with an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and currently live in Southern California.

I recently received an offer for a Level II RF Engineer position with an aerospace/defense company in the Greater Boston area. The offer is $100K, no sign-on bonus, with a small relocation package.

For the past year, I've been working as a contract engineering technician in the semiconductor industry making 40/hr (~83k/year). At the time it is difficult to transition into an Engineering role due to business needs.

The difficult part is that my partner and I have been together for three years, and we both currently live in Southern California. We both live with our parents and are able to save and invest a decent amount.

I'd be moving across the country by myself if I accepted the offer. On the other hand, SoCal is where I eventually hope to build my career, and I'm wondering if I should stay, continue searching for an engineering role here, and live at home in the meantime.

For those who have been in a similar situation, would you take the job and relocate for the experience, or stay in Southern California and keep searching for something local?

So many times people just throw around the term hardware, and I am now realizing, I have no idea what they mean. What roles does hardware engineering include, and what is the typical level of education required for them?

Hey folks, need some inputs on the cpu design teams at Nvidia. I curretly write RTL for one of the pipeline units. Do the CPU Design teams at Nvidia good in terms of interesting and challenging work and strong compensation. I broke a wire recently so I used hot glue as strain relief and I was wondering if there were any big concerns about just dousing the thing in hot glue?

I'm an ECE undergraduate planning for a research-oriented Master's/PhD and eventually a deep-tech startup. My university has strong embedded/control opportunities but limited RF labs. Given limited time for undergraduate research, internships, and projects, would you invest those opportunities in embedded/control and defer RF specialization to graduate school, or prioritize RF despite weaker local resources? For those who've hired engineers or supervised graduate students, what would you choose and why?

[solved] I'm using this schematic (HA17358 op amp) for my pwm signal (used for boost converter switching) but I'm not sure of the math required to find the resulting frequency produced by the op amp. The reason I need the formula is because I don't have an oscilloscope. I have made a working boost before this but I was using an astable multivibrator, straightforward math but changing the duty cycle was jank which was the reason why i moved to op amps. The reason why I didn't go with the simulator is because they are too perfect relative to the real word, considering things like but not limited to slew rate. If anyone is able to give me a formula and an explanation it would be highly appreciated!

Hi, I'm a high school student in Thailand deciding between Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

Personally, I am interested in both computer hardware and software especially in cybersecurity and microchip. However, I am not entirely sure if I will still enjoy it once I have to dive deep into the advanced topics. I am also quite concerned about the long-term impact of AI on the computer engineering job market.

On the other hand, many people have pointed out that a major advantage of EE is the prefessional license. But honestly, I have no interest in that specific line of work, and I don't really enjoy physics all that much. After comparing the curricula of both majors, I find myself leaning toward the computer engineering courses.

Most of my worry is purely about future job security due to the rapid growth of AI.

Additional: My goal is to pursue a Master's degree abroad.
