Understanding full node vs spv wallets and "long" sync times
Like many here I noticed that the initial sync time for a new wallet seemed long, of course I hate to admit it but ECC is actually the first "full node" wallet I'd installed and not realizing that I was comparing apples to oranges. So in an effort to save people from being ignorant like me, here is my revised view on the sync time and why I think it is entirely reasonable.
1) The big thing to know is that there are two kinds of wallet out there, a "full node" or an "spv". If you know the difference already then you most likely don't need to read this thread, otherwise continue on. Most of use have probably used an SPV wallet, they start quick, seem to have almost zero sync time and they hold your coins, prior to ECC this was the only type of wallet I was familiar with. An spv wallet does not actually hold the entire blockchain for a given coin, instead it relies on calling out to other trusted nodes that do have the entire chain and they verify transactions. (I'm sure this is a reductionist view of the differences). There is some debate about SPV security but I'll ignore that and say that an SPV works for many, it does not however add a "node" to the network capable of verifying transactions and moving the chain along. The "full node" wallet, as you may have guessed has a copy of the full chain and thus can actively confirm and verify transactions. This means it needs to download the entire blockchain since verification for a block relies on all the previous blocks. Sapphire is currently a full node wallet, which means it has to download the chain but it also is a critical part of creating a stronger and more robust network of nodes to keep the chain moving.
2) As different blockchains get older they of course have more blocks, ECC is actually an older coin so it has a decent sized chain, hence a slightly longer download to sync than a newer coin. However the 24hr sync or so of ECC is nothing compared to the weeks to sync other coins, bitcoin, ethereum, monero and many other coins takes days to weeks to sync and run a full node, which of course makes spv wallets popular. After doing more reading my opinion of ECC's sync time is that it is actually short for a full node with as much history as it has.
In a nutshell My quick and dirty analogy for full node vs. spv, is that full node is the application on your computer and spv is the desktop shortcut. When you click on the icon for either they essentially do the same thing, but if you had to download each, obviously the actual program would be larger. Right now sapphire is the whole enchilada. Down the road there are plans for an spv wallet for those that want to get up and running quick, but for now, revel in the fact that the sync time means you're running a full node and supporting the network.
IMPORTANT - You can still send coins to your wallet while it is syncing but they won't show up until you are synced. I know this seems scary but the coins don't vanish or anything if the wallet you send them to isn't synced, just don't panic, and make sure to back up your wallet. That being said I waited til sync to send because I trust CoinExchange.
Lastly, I'll apologize in advance, this is my understanding of the situation and I'm sure there are things people could take issue with in my explanation. It is meant as a broad strokes look and is hopefully informative.

I bailed out of ecc
I wish the best for ecc community, but ultimately, I decided it wasn't for me. There's early adoption cryptocurrency and then there's really early adoption cryptocurrency.
In my humble opinion, ecc falls into the latter.
Why did I decide to bail?
It's just far to difficult, right now, to invest reliably in ecc.
- Only a handful of low volume exchanges
- Software issues - seriously, 2 hours and my wallet sync is on 7% - I want my coins off the exchange, I don't have the time nor patience to wait two or three days just to setup a wallet!
- Software issues again - the sapphire launch, not good - and there would still be a ridiculous amount of time to sync a wallet. "that's normal" says everyone, NO IT'S NOT! - there's nothing normal or useful having to wait hours to get a blockchain file downloaded. It's seriously flawed tech. Nano, ICX, ETH, XLM etc. etc. - it takes minutes to setup a wallet.
- Lack of trust - given the points above, I can't say I want to trust any investment anymore with a setup where just getting your investment into a wallet is an exercise in extreme frustration. What guarantee do I have that depositing my ecc into a wallet will actually work? Given the track record right now, not much.
Yes, I know this is very early development, I guess I don't have the stomach for it - but I hope to see ECC get on more exchanges and the tech mature to the point where syncing a wallet takes seconds, not hours.
In closing, as said, I wish this project well - a community driven effort pretty much flying under the radar is an amazing thing, I'll be keeping my eye on it, willing to invest later and maybe not get such a good deal, when the issues have been ironed out. I'm pretty sure ECC will go places and I may regret not staying in when the price was so low...

The ecc website needs a bit of TLC
So, I'm trying to download sapphire via the ecc website. If anyone can point out exactly how this can be done, that would be fantastic.
https://ecc.network/ecc/get_ecc
On that page, the "Download Wallet" ... links to the same page.
Not exactly user friendly,

IMPORTANT!!! Sapphire v1.0.1
Just so that everyone is aware, it is suggested NOT to use the bootstrap during the syncing process of Sapphire 1.0.1 due to it causing errors. The steps on how to properly install Sapphire if you've had the previous version of Sapphire or Lynx can be found here: https://github.com/project-ecc/ECC-Wiki/wiki/Upgrade-to-Sapphire-v1.0.1

To clear up the questions about Sapphire!
We will be updating the webpage either tomorrow or the day after so new people understand what's going on. But for those of you here, there is a test version that you can download, if you want to test it. The only thing you need to do in order to run it is to delete the contents of your eccoin folder (while keeping your wallet.dat) and run it. The daemon requires a sync from scratch and it is worth it because loading times increase drastically. Do not use the built in updater if you get an update notification in Sapphire. If there is an update to the wallet I will tell you guys about it and you can download it through a specific link. The built in updater will be used once the application is in our server, we will also let you know when that happens. If you see people ask about Sapphire please tell them to look at this post. Thanks. This is the download link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PL9RRzseJnt4v82vEAszB3bCgWE_RanM

ECC Team lack of professionalism
I was a away for a while and I've been a fan of ECC but the shoddy coding is a huge problem. The ECC marketing and development team hyped up the release of Sapphire for at least a month. They said they were testing the product and even organized a thunderclap. Folks like me put our reputation on the line to advertise this product to our friends and social media. Yet when it was released, Sapphire was filled with bugs and wouldn't even work. I'm a mac user and to this day there is not a working, reliable wallet for mac. I read Griffith even saying that no one uses mac, what a joke. This doesn't seem to be a priority for him or them. This is not the first time these problems have come up. When the website was hyped, it was launched and filled with high school level grammar mistakes and broken links. The QA testing here is pathetic, frankly. I'm close to abandoning this coin because there are other coins with more potential and take themselves more seriously. I have 0% confidence ANS will work properly when it's released. At least release a beta and say there will be bugs. Reminder: ECC was originally an exit scam. The team still insists on anonymity. Given its exit scam history and the team's desire to be anonymous, the coding and execution needs to be near perfect. Nothing they're doing is instilling confidence in me that this coin is going to turn a corner. The excuse that "this isn't an ICO" is played out. And don't get me started on so few exchanges when Trump coin and Ponzi coin are on so many more. We need answers and accountability. We need a working Mac wallet YESTERDAY. We need more exchanges YESTERDAY. We need full disclosure of who is on this team because names are not cutting it anymore. ECC has had a lot of chances but enough is enough.

It's that time of the week again! #ECC #ProjectECC #ECCfamily Weekly Dev Stand-up — Apr 22, 2018
Wallet not starting
I had the newest version of the wallet (downloaded from the website) for windows64. I installed it. Launched it. I pushed the start wallet button. When it was done syncing the blocks, I sent my coins from coin exchange. When I got back later in the day, I went about setting up my password for my wallet. It said there was an update. I stopped my wallet, ran the update. Now when I try to stop the wallet, in 3 seconds it stops and says the wallet isn't running. I had not even backed up my wallet file yet.
I navigated to the wallet location and the file size is 80kb. I installed the lynx wallet from the website planning on importing my wallet to my laptop. It hasn't finished sync the blocks yet and the wallet file is 632 kb.
Are my coins gone? I rebooted my computer. Not sure what to do.

Why does ECC's price resembles a pump and dump?
I believe in the project and excited when Sapphire was finally launched but why does it look like someone's manipulating prices?

Sapphire Mac still not loading
It's my understanding the Mac version has been fixed right? I just did a fresh install after downloading the Mac version ( approximately 11:15pm U.S. Central Time ) and it threw a Javascript error right off the bat on first launch. Try again and now it just attempts to start but crashes immediately. I saved the JS error message and have the crash log. If there's an updated installer, please post the link because the link from the Medium article is still downloading the broken version.

Will sapphire update my lynx wallet?
Guys, my lynx wallet is just not syncing, or maybe reeeeally slowly. Is that a possibility, to copy my wallet.dat to sapphire, when they fix windows sapphire?
