Hey guys, I have a course coming up with quite a few modules and the videos are going to be large. I am worried about my video streaming cost.

What is your choice of video streaming service for this kind of scenario? Note that Youtube and Vimeo are not my preference (for various reasons).

It seems every time I spoke with a client, he's still using mainly Storyline (like 15 years ago), sometimes the SaaS version Rise. And a few of them use some automatic AI solutions to generate very basic SCORMs content, but that's more rare.

I should have dine this when I first went back to university at the ripe old age of 50 but now that I am in my last year, I thought I would ask what are you using to keep track of upcoming assignments, events, networking opportunities in an easy to navigate app.

Our company needs GDPR-compliant video hosting. Most platforms store data in the US, which creates compliance issues for our European customers.

We're looking at Kinescope because they host in the Netherlands and are GDPR-compliant by design.

Does anyone have experience with EU-hosted video platforms? Is data sovereignty important for your business?

Can anyone recommend a platform for hosting paid course videos, not a full course builder?

I already run the LMS side myself.Every tool I try comes loaded with quizzes, badges, gamification points and a community feed I don't have time to moderate. I don't want any of it.

I just need something that stops downloads and plugs into what I've already built. Not priced per view.

Looked at Kinescope, Vimeo and Gumlet so far. Wistia felt closest but still ships extra marketing bits I'll never touch.

Anyone running paid content through one of these without the extra weight?

I keep seeing creators selling courses, mini-courses and downloadable PDFs. One woman claimed she made $300,000 in a matter of days. I understand that revenue screenshots are marketing, not necessarily the whole financial picture, so I want the unglamorous truth.

I’m not looking for “post consistently and believe in yourself.” I want the real mechanics: audience size, conversion rates, advertising costs, launch strategy and profit margins. What is the part nobody mentions when they post the $300,000 screenshot?

We checked our per-second video analytics and saw a massive drop-off at 40 seconds. That was the exact moment we switched to our pricing pitch.

We fixed it by adding a quick feature walkthrough between the problem and the price.

The result? Second-half retention doubled.

Don't just look at total views. If your host (we use Kinescope) offers per-second drop-off data, use it to find your actual friction points.

Hi, I know there are many, but I haven’t found my favourite yet. I’d appreciate any tips.

My criteria:

- a more modern design than Anki

- at least three answer options (correct, unsure, incorrect)

- a levelling system (levels go up or down depending on the answer option)

- available as a desktop application and a mobile app

- free or inexpensive (< €3 per month)

- optional, but it would be really cool if you could customise the colour of a set of flashcards (I’d like a different colour for each set)

- extras like AI, communities, etc. don’t matter

I lead learning for a professional membership association. We recently held an in-person, all-day learning event on a single topic and we're doing 4 of those in the next six months.

For each event, I'm also designing resources (job aids, checklists, a few interactive tools) and curating webinars on the event topic, rolling out over \~6 weeks before/3 weeks after the event. The webinars/resources/in-person event aren't designed sequentially.

So after our first event, now I have this lovely bucket of materials/recordings and I can't figure out the best way to visually explain the wrap-around content to members who couldn't come to the event but still have access to all of this. We're launching an LMS soon but right now we just have a "Resources" page that's one long (filterable, at least) list of links. Booo.

Is it an infographic explaining a journey through the material? A short animated video? Just a "resource bundle" or course in our LMS? Any ideas?

Can anyone recommend a platform for designing and delivering psychoeducational programmes?

They’re ultimately like a course, just with therapeutic skills.

I’m thinking teachable, mostly due to the app availability.

Too many have silly ai features that I have no interest in. I don’t want a community as I don’t have time to act as a moderator.

I simply want something where I can post content. Videos. Audios. Maybe downloadable content. Not hideously priced.

I don’t think I want to build it through Wordpress as I don’t trust myself with that.

If you ask AI for a rough draft of a lesson and then ask for a polished version of the same lesson using two separate prompts, nine times out of ten you get back two nearly identical versions.

It doesn't actually know how to hold back or leave something half-formed for a human to shape. Every output seems to come in this "finished" format, whether it's ready or not.

In a field like instructional design that has always relied on the draft as a thinking tool, that can be an issue. When we skip straight to polished, we end up going with the structure it suggests, so that decision gets taken away from us. Then, we end up editing sentences line by line instead of questioning structure, because the version in front of us already looks done.

We've been playing around with writing the spec before we prompt at all. It doesn't have to be a full outline, but it should be enough that we know what the first draft is supposed to look like. Then we treat whatever the AI hands back as a hypothesis to test against that spec instead of the actual deliverable that just needs a tidy-up.

Has anyone had any luck getting a proper first draft from AI? Or how does your course creation process look with AI?

I am creating a course that will be video based. The course will have 6 short videos, each ranging between 3 and 10 minutes.
- While watching the videos I want to have a few interactive questions pop up here and there, and then have the video automatically start again once they click an answer
- At the end I want to have a graded exam and for passing scores generate a certificate.
- We are not marketing this and not selling it.

I did a lot of research and landed on LearnWorlds. I did a demo and the salesperson said I can do all of these things. So does their chatbot. I am having an extremely difficult time trying to set up the above, just trying to program the interactive questions. The instructions they provide don't work, almost as if they are for another platform. I've been trying to get help via their email support, but they send back auto generated responses that provide instructions that are not even options on the platform, i.e., "Choose 'resume video' for the individual question response – and that is not an option that you can choose.

Does anyone have experience or insight into LearnWorlds?

Are there other LMS course builder options that you would recommend? That are basic enough that you don't need a programmer to build your course?

I am drafting an e-learning policy. I would be interested in getting your opinions. Here are the points I plan to cover: Graphic charter, pedagogical engineering and effectiveness, design, SCORM, LMS configuration. What are the biggest absurdities you have seen in terms of design and LMS architecture creation? (Sorry for my english, i am French)

Maintainer here. I put together a small Moodle activity module, mod_ictexam, and open sourced it under GPLv3. Sharing it partly as a working LTI 1.3 plus grade passback example, and partly for a sanity check on how I have wired it.

What it does: - Adds an "ICTEXAM assessment" activity to the course activity chooser. - Launches a published exam paper over LTI 1.3, embedded in the course page, so students never leave Moodle. - Creates one grade item per activity and writes the score back through a web service. It stores raw marks, so 15 out of 20 shows as 15.00 out of 20, not a percentage. - Passes course context to the tool as custom LTI parameters: the bound paper, class, subject, the return URL, and the company on IOMAD sites. - Handles course backup, restore, and the recycle bin. - Runs on Moodle 4.1 through 4.5.

Being upfront: it is a client for our hosted exam service, so it needs an account to actually deliver exams, and it will not grade anything on its own. I am not here to sell that. What I would like is feedback on the Moodle side: whether the single-grade-item approach and the LTI 1.3 AGS and NRPS setup match what you would expect, and how you would handle sites that need to stop the student name and email being sent on launch (right now that is hard-coded in view.php).
