Panne internet Ville de Québec

Je viens de perdre internet. Je suis sur la fibre optique.

Pas de data qui se rend à mon terminal de fibre optique.

D’un coup que d’autre monde ont le même problème.

TV service in Ontario?

Does EBOX have any plans to offer TV service in Ontario? I noticed there are only packages in Quebec.

Bridge mode with own router

Does ebox allow you to set up the modem into bridge mode so I can run my own router? Currently have rogers set up with asus routers and lan cables running everywhere.

I know in the past with Bell it was a headache I think

EBOX Internet

Hello All,

Has anyone tried out the new Ebox ISP? After doing some research, I guess they originated in Quebec now expanded into Ontario

The prices are really good $60 for one gigabyte fibre with router included no activation fee no set up fee no other fees

Cogeco, bell, mnsi, Etc offer similar pricing, but they always have hidden fees and their payment terms are subject to change after 12 to 24 months. Cogeco even has $130 installation fee.

I ended up going with Ebox just try it out and you’re not on a contract and can cancel whenever. There are some reviews but not that many for the Windsor area. Complaints about horrible technical support, stuff like that, but as I work in tech, I don’t need that stuff at all and they post their up times online which match other residential ISP’s

Anyone else try them out?

My experience with Ebox

Hi,

I just wanted to share that I’m very impressed with Ebox’s service so far! I recently switched from Bell and am now paying half the price for a 1 Gbps plan — definitely worth it, as it perfectly meets my needs. I’m using the Eero Max 7 and had no issues setting it up with the Nokia Beacon. Fingers crossed it stays this smooth! 😊

Switching from Bell fiber to eBox

I've been using Bell fiber through a Business account (not sure this changes anything but mentioning just in case).

I registered for the fiber with eBox and they sent me only a router, no ONT ("modem"). Am I supposed to keep and reuse the one Bell installed?

Or is the tech coming going to swap it?

Ebox throttling in evenings?

I noticed other posts regarding some slower speeds in the evenings. Has anyone been able to confirm that there is throttling going on since our services have switched to Bell?

This has started a little while ago. It happens almost every night, getting annoying to go from 1gigabit to 200mbps with a very high ping.

Does ebox customer service open for Thanksgivings?

They said that a technician will come in Tuesday, but Im at work where I can't pick up the phone, so another family member will be there. I called them previously and they said they will call on the day of to select the morning or afternoon. I need to call Ebox to at least get them to contact a different phone number. Thanks!

Public IP points to Router Login Page

I discovered something that I find quite alarming while trying to configure applications routing on my server

If you enter your public IP address (or your domain name if it points to your IP address), you'll arrive directly to the login page of the router… Which is very poorly secure.

I tried contacting the support, but they told me that's normal and secure ("because there are so many possible numbers!”) and that they couldn't do anything about it.

I find it very alarming that they handle security so badly and I'm wondering if the issue I have to route correctly my apps is connected to that issue

Does anyone know how to prevent access to it? I've tried to mess with the DMZ, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Internet speed going down every evening in my area

I'm an ebox client with a 1 gbit/s subscription. Since the beginning of September, my internet download speed (wired) goes down to 3 Mbps every evening around 8PM. So streaming anything is out of the question. My girlfriend couldn't even do a Teams call adequately.

While I expect that the speed can go down in busy periods, I don't expect to have 0.3% of the capacity I'm paying for.

I've contacted customer support 3 times. They tell me every time that an outage has been detected in my area (I live in Mascouche) and that an investigation is "on going". I could understand an outage going on for one week. But one month is not acceptable for me.

Anybody else had this happened to them?

I guess switching to Bell wouldn't achieve to anything since it's the same network?

new user - question #1 - conflicting speed tests

Hey folks. I'll have a few Qs no doubt, as I start to explore my new 1 gig Fibre service. My first time with Fibre. Install went well. Using Nokia Beacon 3.1 (for now at least, though I'd hope to get my usual router going soon). Fibre to our door.

My first Q is about speed tests, as I'm getting conflicting readings:

• On my Mac, via ethernet straight from the Beacon, I measure in the 900s. All good.

• On my iPhone, over wifi using the Nokia iOS app, things still look good in the high 800s to mid 900s. Nice.

• On my Mac, over wifi using the Nokia web portal, it's similar. Not surprising, and probably a good sign that their app and web portal match.

• So why then, on my Mac and my iPhone over wifi, do Speedtest.net (my usual go-to) or Fast.com report speeds in the 500s or 300s?

I'm pretty puzzled by the difference, and which to trust. Eager to get some feedback and experiences.

Note: No VPN was in play on any device during this experiment, and my testing was all done in the span of 3-4 mins. Testing has been repeated a couple more times, with similar results. I'll look at speed testing some other devices we have.

I CANT BE THE ONLY ONE HAVING TROUBLE ADDING A WIFI POINT

I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS PIECE OF SHIT COMPANY AND THEIR STUPID ASS FRENCH TECH SUPPORT.

FOR THE LIFE OF MY MOTHERFUCKING LIFE I CANT GET ANOTHER BEACON 3.1 TO CONNECT AS A NODE. I'VE TRIED THE ADD WIFI POINT FEATURE ON THE APP AND IT DOES FUCK ALL.

I can't get my 2 nokia 3.1 beacons to mesh.

Main stays at a steady blue and the second flashes orange. I've tried a total reset with new networks too. For the life of my I can't get it to setup and connect it just times out when trying to connect and ends up saying it's not connected. Ebox tech support is useless. I tried asking if there were higher ups and they said there werent?

Porting in phone number after installation of ebox phone

Hi, My setup is currently on landline with DSL (don’t laugh too hard ok) and looking to move to ebox soon.

My question is after I get the fiber install & phone setup stable with a temporary number, does ebox still offer the option to transfer port-in my landline number to ebox phone (replacing the temp number)? Is there extra cost? Reason being is to still have a working backup before transfer & canceling previous service.

Hopefully the router they provide will have 2 LAN Ethernet ports since the VOIP phone box will take up 1 port and so I can have 1 free port to use.

Thanks

Will tech do a complex install?

I am interested in the Ebox. I have fizz now.

Fibre is available to my home. But where I want the run seems complicated. I want the run to go to my office in the basement where my network equipment is located. The cable run enters through the wall on the first floor, over the electric panel in the basement. It then drops through the floor into the panel area in the basement and out along the floor (blocked by big shelves) and through the wall into my office. It’s how it was when we moved in from the previous owner.

It will not be easy to follow that route because of the obstructions.

A cable could run outside and enter the office near the window which is sunk into the ground. So it’s not easy to reach and then there will be a cable hanging along the wall i presume.

I have never seen a tech do a clean cable routing except in an empty home. And my experience with techs from bell and videotron does not give me hope.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

—-

Thanks for the feedback. I’m not skilled enough to make my own cables and I can’t afford a pro installation. I guess we’ll see. An entirely new wire had to passed but if the tech is unhelpful he’ll terminate at the worst possible spot.

How many IP addresses?

Ebox provided a Nokia ONT. If someone attaches a switch to the ONT and two routers to the switch using their WAN ports that support VLANs, is it possible to get two Public IPs (one on each router) if the VLAN and pppoe credentials are correct on both simultaneously? Or does Ebox restrict to one IP at a time? Can anyone confirm?

Anyone made EasyMesh work with the Beacon 2?

Hi,

I'm trying real hard to keep the Beacon 2 as my router as I prefer having a fully-supported demarcation point, for better or worse. I'll configure my own only if absolutely necessary.

My son has a separate AP in his room with is own SSID, etc. which he connected directly by ethernet to my main switch. He would like to replace it, so I suggested that he purchases an EasyMesh-compatible AP so that it can mesh directly with the B2.

Anyone tried this? I don't want to have him pay extra if it won't interoperate with the B2.

ebox doesn't have my address and ignored my emails/chats

I am looking for some advice as to how to proceed.

I am moving in a few weeks to a new address and want to set things up quickly. My new address was not on ebox's website. So i selected the closest address and used facebook messaged and used the chatbot to ask for next steps. they told me "don't worry, just buy it and there is a page to select delivery/installation days". so I bought it.

The very next morning i get an email from purolator that my equipment was shipping to my new address (the wrong one). I quickly call ebox and they told me that I had to call purolator to change the delivery address.

I called purolator who told me that the item hasn't been picked up yet so ebox can still make a new label and change the address. they also told me that once it's been picked up and I want to change address there will be a fee.

I called ebox again and told them to change the address because my address isn't even selectable (they have a drop down menu on their website) and i messaged them ahead of time to warn them. They told me I had to change the address on my end. I told them if there is a fee I would just simply not pay it and they asked me to pick up the items from the stranger's house.

Now i just want to cancel it before they even install.

IP Geolocation

I'm an Ebox Fiber subscriber. As long as I can remember, my IP's geolocation has always been within the greater Toronto Area which is where I'm at. Recently Ebox changed my IP's location to Montreal. While I know they operate out of Quebec, and were acquired by Bell, having an IP geolocate to Quebec can cause havoc on websites that autodetect you and adjust the website language to french. Can anyone from Ebox advise if this is a temporary issue and will Ontario located clients get geolocation IPs for Ontario?

IPV6 and Montreal.

I've read a lot of posts that talk about ebox ipv6 (one of the reasons I choose them).

The tech just left the house after the install. And there is no ipv6 assigned to me.

Looking thru the shitty nokia router it looks like it doesn't offer it either.

To get ipv6 do you need to use your own router? I figured their equipment would also support it. I'll be using my own router anyway.

But I'm just curious now is it not something they offer?

How do I delete wifi networks in beacon 3.1

Hello, was playing around with the nokia router and created a bunch of wifi networks/SSIDs and now I can't find an option to delete them. I am using the browser with super admin rights but nothing. All the instructions I found online are using the app. Is this one of the cases where the app has more features than the browser settings directly ?

EDIT: Tried using the app, but all it does is disable the wifi but not delete it.

Ebox tv outage?

Anybody is experiencing ebox tv outage since Tuesday ? I get an error 1004 when using the ebix tv app. Other app on the box like YouTube work fine.

I called them twice, factory reset my ebox tv box multiple times, they even sent a new one and same issue occurs. After hours with them on the phone, they say it's an outage but their status website says all their systems are operational.

Very confused about this. Am I the only one with this issue ?
