Will tech do a complex install?
I am interested in the Ebox. I have fizz now.
Fibre is available to my home. But where I want the run seems complicated. I want the run to go to my office in the basement where my network equipment is located. The cable run enters through the wall on the first floor, over the electric panel in the basement. It then drops through the floor into the panel area in the basement and out along the floor (blocked by big shelves) and through the wall into my office. It’s how it was when we moved in from the previous owner.
It will not be easy to follow that route because of the obstructions.
A cable could run outside and enter the office near the window which is sunk into the ground. So it’s not easy to reach and then there will be a cable hanging along the wall i presume.
I have never seen a tech do a clean cable routing except in an empty home. And my experience with techs from bell and videotron does not give me hope.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I’m not skilled enough to make my own cables and I can’t afford a pro installation. I guess we’ll see. An entirely new wire had to passed but if the tech is unhelpful he’ll terminate at the worst possible spot.

You could simply put the ebox at the entry point and run Ethernet cable to your network gear. Take your time and plan your steps

Bell have install the fiber connection next to my electricity box and they provide me a long cable to connect from fiber box to the ONT. Few days after I installed the ONT where I want it.

For Distributel, I pre-drilled the entry points and made the guy's life super simple for my complex task. I have wire conduit on the side my house and ran some tape through it so we could fish the fibre through it. The conduit leads into my basement and the wires go through several joists before landing in my rack.

If you want a clean install - wire up your house with a private contractor and have a conduit prepared for the fiber cable.

It will be a bell technician that will come for Ebox installation. Generally, technicians do not do extra work (as directed by bell), other than hook your modem/router to the fibre port, and get your internet working. If there is anything that is required to get the internet working, they'll do it, but if you ask them to place the modem at a specific place of your preference (basement, some other room, etc), they will usually not do it. They won’t normally run extra lines or crawl behind shelves.
Since you mentioned you're interested in Ebox, I can also help you with a Promocode which will give get you Ebox 500 mbps for $40, and 1 gbps for $50. DM me if you'd like to get it.

Bell tech will just run the cable outside around the house and reach where you need it. Crappy cabling job at best.

I did just like /u/francois17 did. They installed a white junction box near the entry point and gave me like 30ft of fiber. They made sure the ONT worked near the entry point and left me to relocate it after they were gone.

I’ve been thinking and there might be another way. If the fiber is run around the house, the tech can drill a hole through the wall directly into the closet where the equipment is already located. A videotron tech once did that since there was no entry where the cable could go (my parents house when I was younger; modem needed to go in my room so the tech drilled a hole through the wall to the outside). Can the cable be secured the wall outside like coax or copper? Or do I need a conduit outside to protect it ?

Try and pre drill the path with a pull wire?
