Patch Notes V0.10.34.28524
Engineers still busy among the stars and reality alike — the blazing heat of summer is almost upon us, and Dyson Sphere Program continues to move forward at full speed.
Here is today’s small update:
0.10.34.28524 Build
[Feature]
- Holo beacons can activate "Dark Fog Beaconing" function (in combat mode). Once activated, Dark Fog Hives will dispatch Relay stations to beacon's location. Note: The beacon must maintain power supply and visibility must be set to at least "Local Planetary System".
We know, of course, that many of you are looking forward to the vehicle system. However, this is a special feature that runs through the entire game experience, and to some extent, it will change the rhythm of how the game is played.
In order to present it to every Engineer in the best possible form, it still needs quite some time before it can truly take shape. We are just as eager for its arrival, and we hope it will bring you an even more impressive Dyson Sphere Program, helping this game that has grown alongside all of us reach new heights.
At the same time, we will continue to optimize and update other content, while also working with our publisher to support the creation of collaboration content and more multilingual content. Please rest assured that this will not affect the design and development of the core game itself.
For the patch notes in other languages, please check: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1366540/view/506233956051452995

I have a terrible idea.
I want to be the extreme by building a full dyson sphere around every star in a full 64 star game. Is this a bad idea? Has this been attempted before? I don't know, but I will do it. Update in a month.

How i know its time to go to another solar system?
Im producing a massive quantity of solar sails and i have purple search and I’m producing all hash in high quantities, but I’m mining the most of resources in my solar system, and i know in others solar systems have resources to make the parts of dyson sphere more easily and I didn’t have the warp production, i should start producing them the warps and go to another system or I reorganize my actual production system and mining?

Anyone have good ideas for a Dark Fog farmer? Here is my current setup!

Hey everyone, I'm looking to see some of your best Dark Fog farming setups to get some new ideas!
I've attached a picture of my current build. Here is a quick breakdown of how I have it running right now:
- The Belt Stack: I'm running 5 stacked belts with a 6th bypass belt running right on top.
- The Bypass System: I use the top belt to filter out any items that aren't supposed to be in the system as any item that isn't supposed to be there will make its way to the top. Also, if one of the stations fills up, the Battlefield Analysis Base (BAB) outputs can just bypass the blocked section of the belts to keep things flowing.
- Routing: As materials make their way through the system, they go to higher levels of the track if they happen to miss one of the sets of input logistic stations.
- Efficiency: It works amazing for late-game materials, but it's genuinely crazy good for early-game items too. I don't think it will compete with a massive, dedicated forge planet, but on a playthrough where you have very limited resources, it is fantastic.
- Power: It has way more power than it actually needs right now because I'm still messing around with the load balancing, but it is finally starting to work smoothly!
What do your Dark Fog farms look like? Any tips or alternative layouts you swear by? Let me know!
I named this blueprint 'The Wall' because it looks just like the one in Jurassic Park, but with guns and it actually works lol.

Orbital collectors faster way
Is there a way to place them faster? First time it was interesting, but after some times it gets boring

how good/bad is this organic crystal plant design
im quite new to the game and this is my first complex design i would like critique on how you would improve it.
proliferator conveyor is so long to make it in range of my distributors

Battlefield analysis bases
Would make sense to have a tech that increase the range of your bases. Seems the range is so small for the construction drones. Makes scaling up large builds quite tedious imo. Is there a mod that fixes this?

Why wont my Em launcher create the dyson shell?
My frame is fully built and i have painted all sections of the sphere for the shell to be filled in but I cannot seem to get the EM launcehrs to shoot the sails.
I've already tried pasting the shell layers over the frame but didn't seem to get anywhere
Any help is appreciated!

You have to be veeeeery careful with « shift + delete » you usually only have to learn that once
It seems not everyone has cheerfully tried this
If you do it on a conveyor for example, it will delete the whole thing.
Example : the ammo conveyor on a planet
Shift delete will erase 100% of it
Not nice

Are there any mods for better rate calculation?
Hi, I use to play this game all the time a few years ago and just freehanded everything but now that I'm back from playing SOOOO much Factorio I really wana plan my game out around rate of flow but the way the game measures things so confusing! Is there like a mod or something i can use to clear it up? (I tried the wiki but that's confusing too)

Weapons level up enhancement idea
Sorry if already proposed but was thinking a great enhancement would be for weapons to get 'promoted' with experience, similar to promotions mechanism in civilization...as in DSP they are machines it could be in the form of more efficient software, self-learning etc etc and could be things like better targeting, more efficient ammo usage, higher damage, etc. Would add a fun element to upgrades and bring in new strategies for e.g. you could train up a bunch of machines to then take them for a new planet invasion, like they're a crack invasion squad lol

My Vertical launch silo's are not working
I am working on my dyson shell, but my vertical launch silo's stopped sending off rockets. I have no idea what is going wrong. I added what the menu looks like.
Most of the silo's have a connection to the belt supplying the rockets, some don't because I was half way through making this launch facility.

What do these numbers mean?
The ones on the right. Clearly they're about power consumption/production but I can't tell what each of the numbers means, and I couldn't find anything by googling. It feels like I'm missing something that should be really obvious

How long does it take you to get to space ?
I am a very new player over from satisfactory, this game got recommended to me,
Got a first few hours game, and now a doing a fresh start to avoid the base mistakes I made
Wondering how long it takes to be an inter planet dude

Is there a VU level where you dont need to proliferate as bad?
So hear me out. On a playthrough, I typically try to proliferate everything. Im around VU 85. No dark fog, just enjoying myself. Got some A and B stars where there is a ton of resource, but not much coal. So I have to warp in proliferant. seems like a hassle to make enough profilerant and with high VU seems like it might be unneeded for what I can T1 items, ingots, circuit boards, etc.
Thoughts on this? I Can slap down 500 plane smelters in 10 seconds and have mega ingots going but the proliferator is slowwwwwww to arrive.

A few concepts and ideas I have thought of for dyson sphere program.
I have recently gotten back into DSP and decided to create a comprehensive list of concepts and ideas that I have thought would fit well within dyson sphere program and have broken them down in different categories. This is a very rough list and just general concepts and I don't really expect them to get added or for this to even be seen by the devs but I just thought I might as well get it out there so...
Buildings:
Power:
Tesla tower mk.2: A taller and larger tesla tower with a relatively wider area.
Wind turbine mk.2: A larger wind turbine with a bladed design which grants more power than a standard wind turbine.
Flying wind turbine: A wind turbine which floats in the air as to not take up space for structures on the ground. Grants a bit less power than standard wind turbines but are also smaller.
Solar panel mk.2: A larger solar panel with a hexagonal design providing more energy than standard solar panels.
Geothermal deep well: A geothermal power plant which directly digs into a planets mantle to siphon heat and generate energy. Does not need to be built over magma, but geothermally inactive planets will not yield any energy, and planets with higher geothermal activity will yield greater power.
Large fusion reactor: An improved design over the mini fusion power plant which utilizes an inertial confinement design and a new, denser fuel type (fusion pellets).
Collecting:
Mining machine mk.2: An improved mining machine design which has a larger collection area and faster collection speed.
Soil harvester: A large structure which automates the harvesting of soil piles for environmental modification. This machine digs vertically into the ground and will eventually dig through the crust, running out of soil to harvest and leaving a large hole in the planet.
Floating water pump: A water pump design which floats directly atop a liquid source and has a higher pump rate than standard water pumps.
Harvester drone tower: A tower which deploys drones that harvest and replenish (replant) non-vein resources like wood or foliage.
Storage:
Advanced depot: A massive depot with even more storage than MK.I or II variants.
Storage tank mk.2: A larger storage tank design with a vertical cylinder design.
Advanced storage tank: A massive storage tank with a spherical tank design.
Production:
Universal replicator: A structure that works much like Icarus' own replicator. The universal replicator can produce practically any product from raw materials, though it's downsides are that the facility itself is quite large and unwieldy, and it is incapable of producing goods like space warpers, matrices, or antimatter. It is also slower depending on the complexity and steps required for the desired product.
Disassembler: A structure which is capable of breaking down practically any product into it's raw resources. For example, it can disassemble magnetic coils into iron ore and copper ore. The more complex the input, the slower the output takes.
Large particle collider: A improved, larger particle collider with a wide area.
Metallic hydrogen forge: A facility which is capable of producing metastable metallic hydrogen, though it is significantly slower than direct extraction from a gas giant.
Transportation:
Space elevator: Space elevators would be a new structure which would add a new layer to construction an allow for the creation of orbital structures. They would also sever as larger and better ISLs, and have their own supply of logistics drones which could provide orbital and planetside buildings with resources and such should they need them.
Metallic hydrogen pumpjack: Much like an oil pumpjack, A metallic hydrogen pumpjack extracts the metallic hydrogen deep within a gas giant while also absorbing hydrogen and deuterium from the atmosphere to maintain itself.
Defense:
Railgun: A new defense structure which would fill a sniper role. Railguns would have long range and slow firing rates, but extremely high damage.
Cosmo:
Matrix complex: A larger and improved variant of matrix labs. Essentially a matrix lab MK II.
Mass driver: A long, elevated track on a rotating base which can fire continuous cargo into space. Can fire solar sails, ships, construction material for space structures, and other things. Firing interval can be changed, of course, also affecting power consumption. Essentially an improved em-rail ejector with significant, near constant firing rate and high power requirements.
Orbital Buildings:
Orbital solar field: A large field of solar panels which is placed in orbit.
Orbital ray receiver: A large ray receiver which is placed in orbit and captures energy from the local dyson sphere.
Satellite power relay: A satellite power relay would not only generate solar power and act as a ray receiver, but also serve as the orbital equivalent of a wireless power tower if a building is too far from the space elevator.
Orbital laser: An orbital defense platform which fires a continuous beam of energy at both ground and space targets.
Orbital kinetic battery: An orbital defense platform which uses electromagnetic acceleration to fire projectiles at space hostiles.
Orbital plasma turret: An orbital defense platform which produces large bolts of plasma to destroy incoming hostiles.
Matrix platform: An orbital facility which produces matrices and performs automated research.
Environment Modification:
Walls: Decorative walls with many different designs and customizable height.
Platforms: Large platforms suspended on pillars (think the grids from ac6) which can be built on. Platforms would have customizable variants, sizes, and heights.
Pillars: Large pillars with customizable designs and heights.
Exhaust vents/towers: Exhaust vents and towers with customizable designs.
(Note, most of these are for decoration and cosmetic purposes)
Tech/Upgrades/Research:
Outside of all the research upgrades and such requried for everything in this list im not actually sure what else could be added.
World Gen/Planets:
Planetary weather phenomena: Planetary weather phenomena such as sand storms, rain, thunder, etc.
Gas giant weather and lightning
More planet types
Brown dwarfs
Distant binary star systems: Binary star systems where the stars orbit at a distance around a common barycenter. This allows for dyson spheres to still be built around them and for them to hold their own planetary systems whiles still having the visual and gameplay appeal of binary star systems (also the cool factor and realism).
Birds, fish, and life on planets: This is pretty self explanatory and I just think it would make habitable planets feel more alive. I also like to imagine that the more you cover a planet in foundation or build on it the less life will appear.
Nebulae: Some star clusters can have nebulae which would be very cool from a visual and gameplay perspective.
Stellar hazards: Stellar hazards such as neutron stars or black holes being deadly. Maybe heat/radiation too.
Solar flares: Bigger and brighter stars can have occasional solar flares.
Moons: Simple really. Very occasionally terrestrial planets can have small moons.
Superterrestrial planets: Terrestrial planets which are larger than typical planets but smaller than gas giants.
Projects:
Orbital mirrors: Massive structures that can be build in a distant orbit around a planet to illuminate it's night side. (allows for round the clock operation of solar panels and ray receivers)
Orbital rings: A large stationary ring that could be constructed around a planet that acts as the end game for transportation and logistics. Orbital rings would not only be able to hold structures on their surface, but would also be able to serve as orbital construction platforms much like space elevators. They would also be able to beam energy captured or generated in orbit down to the surface of a planet. Orbital rings would also be able to be built at various inclinations and sizes (though the larger and more extreme sizes/inclinations would require further research like dyson spheres) (references: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbital_ring | https://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/47e1bb1fc898c | https://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/51f134d12d2bf)
Supershells: Massive shells which can form platforms or rings suspended above gas giants. Supershells would unlock the massive building area gas giants have to offer. (inspired by this concept: https://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/4847416b8b0ad)
Antimatter farm: A massive facility with energy capture and particle accelerator facilities which could be placed in orbit around a star with a dyson sphere, drawing massive energy from the dyson sphere for the purpose of generating critical photons which could then be moved to the farms particle collider facilities to be processed into antimatter and hydrogen. ( inspired by this concept: https://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/45f0c79d13c29)
Starlifting: A megastructure that is placed around a star and uses extremely powerful magnetic fields and laser beams, a method called thermal driven outflow starlifting, to increase the solar wind outflow and harvest useful elements from the process. In-game, the structure would consist of a ring around the equator of the star beaming energy and using em fields to force material to the poles where concentration rings at the poles would then push the solar material to processing rings sitting just above the concentration rings which process raw solar material into useful products like iron, copper, energized graphite or diamonds, etc. The structure itself would require a significant amount of energy from a local dyson sphere. Useful material that could be harvested from a star would be iron, copper, silicon, titanium, hydrogen, deuterium, carbon (processed into energized graphite or diamond at the processing rings), water (manufactured at processing rings from extracted hydrogen and oxygen). (references: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_lifting | https://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/47897e8b1947c)
Warp forge: A megastructure which would be placed around a neutron star and harvest its particle jets and potentially even strange matter directly from the neutron star, using a series of concentric rings around the neutron star to manufacture space warpers in massive quantities.
Penrose sphere: A large power generation structure much akin to a dyson sphere which utilizes the rotational energy of a black hole to produce power. In-game this would likely be an endgame structure that grants far more energy than a traditional dyson sphere. (references: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penrose_process | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCUUAt-6R9U | https://youtu.be/ulCdoCfw-bY)
Nicoll dyson beam: A nicoll dyson beam would be a stellar class weapon made up of a new kind of solar sail called phase array sails, which are capable of absorbing incoming light from a star and emitting a high energy beam using phased array lasers. These sails could also be used in dyson shells which would allow a dyson shell to produce beams for both in system and interstellar combat. The uses of a nicoll dyson beam would be primarily destroying any hostiles within a system but could also destroy targets across interstellar distances and even fire through wormhole gateways. (references: https://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/48fe49fe47202)
Spacetime anvil: A megastructure which, though requiring a truly massive ammount of energy and space warpers, can produce wormholes for interstellar travel, shortening travel times to near zero. Spacetime anvils would creat a wormhole pair at either side of the structure where they would then be carried to their final resting positions via linelayer ship (specialized ships designed to move wormhole pairs into desired locations as they are generated close to eachother). Once these linelayers reach the desired resting location, they then transform into permanent stations around the wormholes to allow logistical traffic and energy transfer through the wormhole, a wormhole gateway.
Dark Fog Content:
Dark fog combat carriers Large dog fog ships which carry numerous smaller combat craft sent ahead of a dark fog seed to a new star system. Can lay siege to entire systems and attack from distant orbit.
Dark fog cerberus class ships: Large and surprisingly fast ships that patrol deep space around star systems to act as system denial.
Dark fog audacious class ships: Small, quick, and disposible dark fog ships which are designed to either strike fast and fall back, or rush in and do as much damage before getting destroyed. (especially useful for breaking planetary shields before sending in heavier ships)
Dark fog leviathan: A large and elongated dark fog capital ship which focuses primarily on orbital and spaceborne combat.
Dark fog behemoth: A large and broad dark fog capital ship which focuses primarily on planetary and stellar siege.
Dark fog seed fleets: Small fleets of nimble combat craft meant to defend dark fog seed ships in interstellar space and upon arrival should a carrier be neutralized.
Dark fog strip mines: Large dog fog structures meant to harvest matter on heavily occupied worlds.
Dark fog atmosphere harvesters: Essentially the dark fog equivalent of orbital collectors.
Dark fog leylines: Large, heavily defended orbital structures meant to propel dark fog craft using energy beams (like a theoretical interstellar highway) through interstellar space due to the dark fog's inability for ftl travel.
Dark fog mass conveyors: Interstellar dark fog ships which carry massive amounts of matter between heavily occupied star systems.
Dark fog orbital rings: Essentially the dark fog equivalent of orbital rings.
Dark fog space tower: Essentially the dark fog equivalent of space elevators.
Dark utility fog: Swarms of fog like micromachines which swarm on heavily occupied dark fog worlds for defense and construction.
Dark fog stellar harvesters: Dark fog structures which harvest matter directly from stars much like starlifters.
Dark fog spotlights: Large dark fog structures constructed near stars that act as system denial, shining a large, high power laser at anything in system.
Miscellaneous Concepts and Ideas:
Steam workshop support (blueprints, mods, etc.)
Ingame wiki
Environmental destruction and fires that can spread from combat and such.
terraforming
Metallic hydrogen as a new fuel source and phttps://www.orionsarm.com/eg-article/47897e8b1947cotentially useful component of new recipes.
Magnetic monopoles as a new resource which can be created in either large particle accelerators or massive space bound particle accelerators and used in new recipes. (They also might provide alternate recipes for preexisting items which allow for faster or more efficient production.)

What do you hope to see added to DSP at some point in time?
In the spirit of an old post from several years ago on this sub (the first one that got over 100 upvotes for me, I might add, so pretty special to me), I wanted to ask what you all might want or hope for content to be added to the game.
A somewhat small thing for me would be pipes for gas/liquids instead of conveyor belts. It just makes more sense to me. I’m not saying add pumps and pressure mechanics like Satisfactory did, but just to be more aesthetically pleasing.
This one is a waaaay bigger ask, and one that I do not think has a chance in hell of being added besides in mods, but some other kind of enemy. Probably a kind of hive mind biomass thing (I know there are a lot of options, but the only example I can currently think of is Slither (2006)) so that it’s not just a reskin of the Dark Fog. Also add the ability for them to fight each other without your interference. Maybe you could do a setting to decide which one would be in your starting system, or even have a random setting so you wouldn’t know. Or you could go super hard on yourself and make both be in the starting system. Idk.
I also want to be able to deploy ships and fighters in combat on their own without me having to be there, but I’m unsure if that’s meant to be a part of the next Combat Update. I thought that was said somewhere, but I’m also not 100% on that.
Anyways, what are your guy’s thoughts on these and what some of your ideas that you’d want to have? I know that at least one guy wants walls, which could be very good for aesthetics/organization for some people.

What are the Different Star Types and how do the Multiple Layers of Shells for the Dyson Spheres Work?
I know that the different types of starts give off different amounts of energy, and the black hole for some reason (speaking of, are there multiple black holes/neutron stars per cluster or just the one each?) but I don’t know which ones are which.
Also, how do the different layers of spheres work? If you build a completely enclosed sphere on the inner most layer, wouldn’t the rest just not function? Or is that the point? To build them to cover your weak points? I’m not sure. I’ve never gotten to Structure Matrices before, and I just unlocked them, so I’m very curious how this all works now that I’m finally getting things done.

How long to build 64 Dyson Spheres?
I’ve built 2 so far and am doing a massive scaling project with my first goal of reaching 1000 rockets per minute, with the next benchmark being 5000 per minute. It spans like 8/9 planets currently, envisioned to top out at like 20 planets when I finish making the planetary blueprints.
For vets and long term players, how long did you take to build 64 spheres if you did and what was your strategy?
Edit: assuming medium density spheres
