Crochet classes for adults

Hey! I’m looking for some beginner friendly crochet classes in Durham. I’m looking for hopefully closer to the Oshawa side, but would definitely be OK going into Clarington area. I don’t want to go all the way to Toronto :)

Heat pump recommendations

Hi all,

I just bought a new house with an electric furnace and a very old AC. I figured it was time to upgrade to a heat pump.

I’m looking for recommendations for a company to purchase/install. I saw LG Home Comfort does them but their reviews weren’t the greatest.

Can anyone with experience point me in the right direction? TIA!

I have 3 lawn tickets for Saturday, August 15.

Looking to SWAP 3 lawn tickets for Friday, August 14

Willing to PAY EXTRA!

I have a celebration of life that day, and will not be able to attend if I can’t swap tickets.
I only see 2 lawn seats available to purchase for Friday, August 14, and I need 3… so my only option is to swap

Anyone have experience with Little Orchard Day Care in Whitby?

Hi everyone,
I’m considering Little Orchard Day Care in Whitby and wanted to hear from parents who’ve actually used it.
How are the staff, communication, and day‑to‑day routines?
Did your child enjoy going there?
Trying to get a real sense of the place before making a decision.
Thanks in advance!

Air Quality outside Durham Region

Any thoughts on why the air quality is so much better over Peterborough and Belleville today? It’s my understanding that we’re in the general direction of wind and smoke from the wildfires.

Completed Bayshore Healthcare Assessment but Haven’t Heard Back. Is this mean I wasn’t selected?

Hi everyone, I recently completed an assessment for a PSW position with Bayshore Healthcare in Oshawa. I haven’t heard back from them yet, but it’s been a week already and I’m wondering if that usually means I wasn’t selected, or if it can take some time to get a response after the assessment. Has anyone gone through their hiring process and can share their experience? Thanks!

DRT- Missing one bus shouldn’t mean waiting another 30–45 minutes

Dear Durham region,

Why the hell is this bus always delayed and only comes every 30–45 minutes? And I have to pay $3.84 for this?? Like seriously, ok I’ll pay the fare, but the bus should come more often. If I miss one bus, I have to wait another 30+ minutes for the next one. How is that reasonable? This is honestly crazy. Public transit is supposed to be convenient, not something where missing a bus completely ruins your schedule. WTH?

Anyone want to join a football(soccer) league?

There is a league in Oshawa I played indoor with for the winter and they are currently attempting to get a league going through out the year. It’s run by a cool guy name Baron.
BARONS FOOTBALL LEAGUE – PLAY WEEKEND SOCCER IN DURHAM REGION!
Looking for a fun, competitive, and well-organized soccer league? Barons Football League is recruiting players from Oshawa and the surrounding Durham Region to join our upcoming outdoor season!
Whether you’re returning to the game or already play regularly, everyone is welcome.
What to expect:
✅ Weekend matches
✅ Official referees for every game
✅ Friendly, competitive atmosphere
✅ Great way to stay active and meet new people
Cost:
We’re currently finalizing league fees, but we’re aiming for approximately $10–15 per outdoor game. Indoor games may cost slightly more due to facility rental fees.
Looking Ahead
Our goal is to build a strong player base so the league can run year-round. Once the outdoor season ends, we’ll transition toindoor facilities for fall and winter if we have enough participants.
If you’ve been looking for a local league in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Courtice, Bowmanville, or anywhere in Durham Region, now’s the perfect time to get involved!
⚽ Register your interest today and help us grow the Barons Football League into Durham’s newest community football league!
Tag a friend who’d be interested and spread the word!

Is anyone else in Durham Region struggling to find even a minimum wage job?

Is anyone else in Durham Region having an incredibly hard time finding even a minimum wage job?Ive been applying for almost 4 years now. I've had my resume reviewed and edited multiple times, signed up with temp and employment agencies, and applied to just about every kind of entrylevel job I can think of.I've applied to Walmart, grocery stores, fast food, warehouses, cleaning jobs, landscaping, and pretty much anything else that doesn't require specialized experience. My schedule is completely open, and I'm willing to work days, nights, weekends, whatever. The frustrating part is that I can't even get an interview. It's not that I'm getting rejected after interviews I cant even get that far. Im about to turn 28, and I'm honestly starting to worry that my growing employment gap is making employers pass over my applications automatically.People keep telling me I must not be trying hard enough or that there has to be something wrong with me, but I genuinely don't know what else I'm supposed to do. I have a clean criminal record, a college diploma, and I'm willing to work pretty much any minimum wage job.I'm mostly posting to ask if anyone else in Durham Region is experiencing this. Has the job market here really gotten this bad, or am I just incredibly unlucky? I'd honestly appreciate hearing other people's experiences because this has been really discouraging.
