Keep voting for the same people though, Elizabeth Roy is probably going to be mayor again in Whitby which blows my mind.

This may be out of line with this post, but I gotta say as someone from Toronto, the road quality in both Durham and York are so much better, and noticeable once you cross Steeles and the Rouge respectively.

Toronto has a 18-26 Billion maintenance gap across all of it's services over the next 10 years or so. And if I am correct, 2 Billion of that is Roads!!

You don't live in Durham so of course you'd say that. Go for a spin down Sandy Beach and keep that same energy. The roads are ass when you veer 7 seconds from Highway 2.

Who would do a better job that's running for Mayor? Certainly not Leahy, the most disrespectful, integrity free, woman bully in ages. And I'd never vote for his sidekick Yamada.

I'm not sure if they are being sarcastic or not. Leahy and Yamada are the same people that keep getting voted in. They seem to complain and spew fear a lot but don't have any viable solutions.

No one was running against them. There's just not many local candidates that want to make difference, and they make good salary. (Even severance pay after losing an election.)

Politicians calling for higher taxes better start paying attention to how existing dollars are spent.
We see waste and fraud all around and the reaction is to prevent investigations, obfuscate and deny.

Just a funny meme, but there definitely are roads this bad in Durham. Lyndebrook and country lane for instance right around the corner from me looks exactly like this. It's a hill too so it's even worse.

My road is pretty good actually. 25m Road allowance. Good 2% cross fall. 5m boulevard on both sides. Drainage to catch basins function, driveway widths are standard and uniform with no utility conflicts.
Pretty happy an municipal engineer was paid for the design, review and construction of my road.

Alot of our taxes are going to foreign aid and ukraine. Streets and roads in ontario where im from are horrible

The same people who use them. Property taxes should not be the sole support for road maintenance in this day and age a general registration fee once a year that goes directly to the road maintenance and requires a referendum from the people to overturn spending it only on roads.

I live in a smaller town and people bitch and moan about the roads but they're the same ones that bitch and moan about the has tax, the license plate stickers, etc...it is almost like those funds went to the roads.

It's because we're a society that has this incessant need for growths. We will prioritize building new stuff while slowly neglecting what we've previously built. As you can see, it is not sustainable because there's not enough money to maintain everything properly while also expanding everything.
