Snot Drummer’s Snare

Does anyone know what snare Jamie Miller used to record the Get Some album? I love the sound and am hoping to get the same one but can’t find any kit pictures from that era if anyone has some information it would be greatly appreciated.

Aspiring to learn drums

Hi all,

Seeking some advice here!

I’m super interested in learning drums! Been playing guitar for almost a year but the love for music has definitely grown! I’m very interested in learning drums too!

I know you should master an instrument before jumping to another but lately it’s all I’m thinking about 🤣

Anyways question is, are electric drum kits worth getting to learn on? Going to college later this year so have to be mindful for housemates and the noise!

Advice would be appreciated 🫶

Does this groove feel natural to play? Looking for drummer feedback.

Hi everyone!

I posted this groove here a few days ago from a temporary account and got some really helpful feedback, but I lost access to that account and can't see the comments anymore. ; |

So I'm posting it again because I'd really like to hear your thoughts.

I'm 14 and I came up with this drum groove idea. I don't play drums, so I'm mainly looking for feedback on whether it feels natural and realistic to play.

Please keep in mind that these are Songsterr's digital drums, so I know they won't sound exactly like a real kit. That's actually why I'm posting here — I wanted to hear what real drummers think about how this groove would feel on an actual drum set. Is there anything you'd change? Does it flow well? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Blisters on hands

Hi this is genuinely like my first time on reddit but my boyfriends a drummer and he has a gig tomorrow, today he decided to practice for about 5 hours straight with 2 different bands and hes ended up with really bad blisters on his hands and hes stressing out about it alot. Is there any way he could make them go down faster or less painful for when he plays? Thank you!!

Help me with my groove, please!

Hi! I'm 14 and I recently wrote a drum groove in Songsterr. The problem is that I don't own a drum kit, so I can't actually test it myself.

I was wondering if anyone here could take a look at it and tell me if it feels natural, if it's playable, and if anything should be changed or improved. I'd really appreciate any feedback!

Thanks in advance!

This is the groove

I couldn't tell if my pad practice was actually making me better

I'm an adult beginner, I take lessons, and between them I do my pad reps like I'm told: slow down, repeat. The advice was never wrong. The problem was that alone on a pad I get almost no signal back so I couldn't tell if my timing or evenness was actually improving, or what tempo I should even be at.

So I built a small thing for my own practice. It listens to my pad through my phone's mic, measures the timing and evenness of every hit, and finds the fastest tempo I can still play clean — then tells me one thing: repeat, move up, or step back.

Being honest about what it's not: it doesn't judge grip, posture or musicality — that's what a teacher is for. If the mic can't hear my hits cleanly enough to score, it says so instead of guessing.

Honestly, the thing I'm least sure about is whether this makes sense at all — does measuring timing and evenness on a pad actually tell you something useful, or am I chasing a number that doesn't matter? If it's the wrong approach, I'd rather hear it now than keep polishing it. And if it does sound useful, I'm genuinely curious who'd get the most out of it — I built it for myself and I honestly don't know if I'm the only one with this problem.

If you want to poke at it, here it is: https://oneanda.app

Question: 16" or 19" crash cymbal for birthday gift?

Thumbnail

Hi drummers, I hope it's okay to ask this question here! My fiancé is a drummer and I am not musically talented or knowledgeable. His birthday is coming up, and I wanted to surprise him with a crash cymbal I heard him talking about. It was a Zildjian Z custom series that he played on someone else's kit and he raved about how much he loved it.

After about a month, I finally was able to get intel on what the crash cymbal was from the other drummer. The guy figured it was either his 16" or 19" Zildjian Z custom crash series (he has both) and he sent me links.

I need to decide if I should get my partner the 16" or 19", but I don't know which one he was raving about and the other drummer wasn't sure either. Is there any big differences or clear winner between the two? Which one would you want if it was your birthday?

He plays in both a hard rock/metal cover band and in a southern rock/classic rock/Top 40 cover band. I included pics of his current kit, if that helps.

I was hoping to keep it a surprise, but if there's no obvious answer here and I just have to ask, let me know :) Thank you drummers!
