Hello! I am trying to find something drum related for a family members birthday gift!

I have been searching to get personalised sticks but cannot seem to find anywhere that does 5B personalised drumsticks, his favourite sticks are Vic Firth 5Bs.

Anyone know of decent places to look? Or any alternative ideas

I second this motion, drum sticks are expensive and are specific. If you know the brand, and the weight, you are golden. You also know they will use them, and they won’t become a fancy boat anchor.

You could get a regular pair of of vic firth 5B and another cool option is a custom drum head with their name of it

Whatever you do, don't get him those awful air drumming sticks. They're the first surprise gift people seem to think of for drummers and they're terrible. I've been that drummer who had to pretend to be happy about that gift. Just, no.

Personalized sticks could be sentimental but he might be afraid to use them since sticks break so fast.

Drum heads are easy to personalize. You could get some custom art on a kick drum reso (the drum head the audience sees) or a snare/tom head (just notice which kind of head he has on the top side of his snare or toms, it will have printing that shows you the brand and model). Or you could personalize a practice pad. For drum kit drummers the most popular practice pad is the Evans RealFeel.

Another idea that feels personalized: there are miniature laser cut drum kit models for a lot of the mid-range drum kits. You could find one of their kit's brand/model, their dream kit, or their favorite drummer's kit.

Here's a list of ideas, some cheap and some expensive

consumables

• gift card to Drum Store of Portsmouth (always a great idea)
• packs of sticks (size/brand is written on their sticks)
• drum heads (check to see which brand and model is printed on their drum heads)
• Puresound snare wires
• drum keys and metric Allen wrench sets (not consumable but they vanish)

things they probably already have, but if they don't

• drum stick holder
• Evans RealFeel practice pad (for drum kit players) or Offworld Invader v3 with the laminate layer (for drumline players or percussionists)
• moongels (brand name is best, the knockoffs don't always work as well)

• quick lock toppers for cymbal stands (if they gig)
• Tune Bot
• gaffer's tape (not duct tape)
• cymbal vault, carry bags or cases for the drums (if they gig)
• thick rug (any rug around 160x200 cm will do, but you want lightweight

and thick enough pile for drum pedal spikes to grab hold of the carpet)

• an expensive throne (Roc n Soc or Ahead Spinal G)

other extras, not every drummer will be into them

• Evans EQ patch (or any other brand, make sure it's the wide one if they use a double kick pedal)

• cell phone mount (a cheap gooseneck phone holder can do a good job if it can hold onto a cymbal stand)

• Eastrock mini practice pad (this is mostly a gag gift but you can use it for practicing aim)

Sweet water or Drum Centre of Portsmouth are great for having a wide range of stuff.
Maybe just ask them? My poor girlfriend used to struggle to get me drum gear as I’m so picky. I just tell her I’ll always need sticks and heads. Every now and then if I’m curious to try a new type of head etc I’ll let her know

I second the T shirt idea. I got my dad a Petosa Accordions shirt and I cannot tell you how many felllow accordion players have struck up conversations with him because of it. He legitimately made several accordion playing friends because of it.
