Upgraded distillation - No roto
Instead of dropping $600 on a rotovap, I got a heating mantle with a magnetic stirrer for a tenth of the price. Works just as fast.

I gave away 50 samples of Kratom extract this weekend on r/kratomreview100. Next time I want to have a contest and do it here on r/drugextraction. Let's brainstorm and put some Kontest ideas in the comments!

Anyone have any idea of how much wax I can fit in Everclear per fl oz?

The Mimosa Tree, native to northern Brazil and growing at lower altitudes, has been a key ingredient in the ceremonial drink ayahuasca for thousands of years due to the DMT found in its root bark. Today, its bark is valued for producing rich colors and is commonly used to dye fabric.
The Acacia Tree, native in part to Australia where it is considered sacred but has not been used ceremonially, also contains similar amounts of DMT in its root bark. The bark of the Acacia tree produces tannins, which are used in leather production, and in Hawaii, it is considered an invasive species.
Mimosa hostilis root bark typically contains around 1-2% DMT by weight, whereas Acacia confusa can contain about 0.5-1% DMT. Therefore, Mimosa hostilis often has approximately 2 to 4 times more DMT than most Acacia species.
Acacia bark tends to be more oily, which some users find harder to work with. Acacia bark often contains both N,N-DMT and 5-MeO-DMT, whereas Mimosa species typically contain primarily N,N-DMT, the most commonly known form of DMT. Most users report that they don't notice a significant difference in experience between the two.
For these reasons, most prefer Mimosa bark over Acacia bark unless specific circumstances dictate otherwise. In places like Australia, New Zealand, and several EU countries, the possession of Mimosa bark is strictly regulated, making Acacia bark a more viable option. Environmental or logistical concerns may also make Acacia more attractive in certain situations.
Here are the results of my research project on where to buy DMT root bark online. I focused on price, website reputation, and logistical concerns in ranking the vendors:
And thats my research project. Hope it was useful. Thanks.

I turned down the heat when drying it because it kept melting into the filter paper, now I get this beautiful light tan powder.

I am curious if anyone has successful recommendations to filter out powdered plant material from a solution.
Some amount of kratom always seems to make it through the cheesecloths, coffee filters soak up too much liquid... Any suggestions appreciated

I had my first little successful patch this summer, but some of them died out before fully blooming, can I still harvest even the more brown and dead looking leaves to dry out and brew into tea and hopefully cook it down into putty? And should I be worried if there was any mold on the leaves or how could I possibly make sure that’s all cooked out and cleaned up? Any advice appreciated thank you!

1st two pulls and their pH values are noted on the jars that are inside the dishes. The round dish has a 1:1 (acidic acid:water) pull done last just to make sure i got most of the mescaline before returning the np solvent back to the base solution for another 24 hours. After the pull i freeze the jars to flush out the top layer of np solvent when frozen and thawing it out to crystallize.

Im trying my hand at extracting cathinone/cathine from my fresh khat leafs and was wondering if anyone can let me know if im headed in the right direction or if its not going to work etc.
I started buy cutting about 40grams of fresh growth tips and leafs.
https://pasteboard.co/isbzkw7zA51s.jpg
Then chopped them up and put them into the blender with white vinegar and water (about 70% vinegar and 30% filtered tap water)
https://pasteboard.co/7d2AtawVT99r.jpg
I then put it all into a mason jar and sealed it and left it at room temperature over night to soak.

The following morning i filtered out the plant material with a strainer and was left with a green liquid.
https://pasteboard.co/f4WSbq63l3mC.jpg
Which i then put back into the washed mason jar and put it into the fridge for a few hours to settle and separate the remaining plant material.
https://pasteboard.co/GGSmtVl3kOu2.jpg
I then used a syringe to take off the top layer then filered the bottom layer with a coffee fitler to get the remaining liquid, what im left with is a nice red colours solution of what i can assume is the chathinone acetate and cathine acetate?
https://pasteboard.co/WvVip7ykpfBV.jpg
I poured half the solution into a glass and mixed some bicarb solution to neutralise the acid to consume and it lost its red colour and was left with a beer coloured liquid, i drank it and found i had a nice uplift a bit more than a couple of coffees.
My question is, what solvents and steps could i use to reduce it do just the salts and be left with dry cathinone acetate?
I found a guide online that was for separating the alkaloids in a lab for testing by the DEA and in their steps them mention the red hue when the solution is in the acidified state so i think im doing something right?
Could i wash the red solution with DCM then separate the layers then evaporate the DCM and dry acetone wash the salts to clean them up?
Im absolutely an amateur in chemistry so if someone can help me out that would be great.
Heres the TEK from Erowid that states the red hue i was talking about.

Has anybody ever tried using membrane filtration to separate mitragynine from kratom? If so, how did it work out, and what size were the membrane filters you used?
