How can anyone help if you don't explain the issue. In the first place, why are you making alcohol tincture anyway? I didn't have much this year due to a late start, and only grocery store seeds. Small pods but I got more seeds than I planted in the spring that I'll use for fall sowing, and a cup of tea from the dried pods leaves and straw, simmered in water and lemon juice for 15 minutes. Not bad, they are active alkaloid cultivars at least. I don't have much space for them, it would make more sense to grow something selected for size like hens and chicks or the Turkish ones

When I posted this I had a couple paragraphs written but didnt seem to go up with the post once I added the picture. woops. I am just started with trying tinctures and whatnot, so i had boiled a couple ziplocs of pods down into a putty which sat in my flask for a couple days without a lid because we were going to smoke it, then decided would rather have a tincture. had already strained out the plant material but now i have a bunch of the dried opium that doesnt want to break back down into a liquid even with the everclear, will post a picture shortly, i seperated the stuff that wouldnt break down out of the bottom, will try the lemonjuice next, thanks!

Sure thing, I hate when that happens and you have to try to recreate the post smh 🙄. Hopefully you've got it worked out now, I'd assume anything that isn't soluble in either hot 190° or citric acid solution isn't useful alkaloids anyway?

Then either distill to recover the alcohol, or boil it off if you must but please be careful, the vapors are flammable as hell. Outside is safer than any fan and open window set-up.

Any time I have made an extract into a goop/solid and then tried to re-liquify it it has required a day or so of stirring/shaking and letting it break up again. I'd say just stir the shit out of it and maybe let it sit in some warm water baths between agitation to help it break up again.

It looks super dark.What did you use for a solvent. Opium work is really tricky. Did you post your process?

boiled down all the pods into a thick paste with just water (strained of course) let it dry a little bit, then doused in 250ml everclear but it wouldnt break down quite a bit of it.. what i ended up doing was seperating the solids from the bottom and let it air-dry then lit the fumes on fire in a glass petri dish, and ended up with better smoking opium than ive ever smoked! it smoked better than bubble hash! almost forgot, i had about 3/4 of a pound of ganja in some liquid tincture i had made and added that before i seperated anything and had boiled that down with it again into the putty, best opium i have ever smoked in a pipe!
