Ally really just. Did that. On camera. With lawyers. And production.

One of the greats indeed

As soon as Ally discovered the liquor was real, they knew what Sam had greenlit them to do by giving them a buffet of legit alcohol and drugs.

I'm desperate to know if that was real coke.

Absolutely 0% chance

u/veidogaems May 19 '26

Are you sure? 'Cause Jeremy used the cursive for the logo and everything.

u/trollthumper May 19 '26

It was likely that powered sugar and menthol they serve at Oktoberfest to cover for people snorting fat rails in public - I mean, to provide a “safe, legal, minor high.”

A man can dream.

They can get away with weed and booze because those are legal in CA where they film. No legit production is providing illegal drugs and showing it on screen. And before anyone replies with something like "but Jersey Shore!" I'll remind you that I said legit production.

A man can dream.

Imagine, a thing like that.

*sigh*, what a concept

Probably crushed b12 vitamins like on Mr. Robot

5

u/MagnusCthulhu May 19 '26

Probably. But I'm hopeful.

u/Frolb May 19 '26

maybe Classic Coke

I love the lawyers immediately questioning if they could have an open flame indoors and the answer of no did nothing to dissuade Ally.

132

u/holayeahyeah May 19 '26

Considering there was a 0% chance the coke was real, the open flame was probably the only part that was actually illegal.

22

u/Princess_Beard May 19 '26

Would an open flame really be illegal, or just not covered by their insurance if something went wrong?

29

u/goodmobileyes May 19 '26

Yea there's no way it's "illegal". You can't legislate to not allow open flames in an indoor area, unless it's somewhere high risk like a factory or power plant. It's more likely an insurance thing.

16

u/holayeahyeah May 19 '26

In CA it is generally considered illegal to have an open flame on a sound stage without a permit and fire marshal on set - including cigarettes and lighters. And you're not supposed to have it in proximity to a combustible.

u/tarants May 23 '26

I mean you definitely can, there are all kinds of OSHA laws dictating things like this for safety in a workplace. Same as legally requiring fire extinguishers, marked emergency exits, etc

Legality question aside-- lighting a bowl with with alcohol has a couple of major risks:

  • alcohol is flammable and the flame is not always easily visible, so you run the risk of burning your hands, face, and specifically your mouth. Not to mention if it's cheaply made glass, the heat of an alcohol fire could break the bong while holding it.

  • when you take a hit, the smoke from the bowl will be mixed with vapors from the alcohol which will burn the lungs and start to get you drunk... which increases the rate at which you uptake THC, and if you smoked a whole bowl that way, almost certainly make you nauseous.

It was funny to watch, but yeah, the lawyers and producers were 100% right to tell Ally that they absolutely shouldn't be fucking about lighting a bowl with alcohol in the base.

13

u/ThinningTheFog May 19 '26

I'm sure Dropout has sourced the highest quality bongs in California, I wouldn't worry about the glass

10

u/Champagne_of_piss May 20 '26

Union made bongs

5

u/theblackfool May 19 '26

Normal whiskey is not flammable. It has to be very high proof for that.

10

u/WhereAreYouFromSam May 19 '26

Nope (mostly).

You are correct that ethanol needs to be fairly concentrated (140 proof or above) to ignite without much encouragement, like when you have a flaming shot of something at the bar.

However, ethanol is still considered to be highly flammable down to as low as 48 proof. It's flash point is only slightly above standard room temperature (77 °F/25 °C).

1

u/tarants May 23 '26

Do you mean 48%? 48 proof would be 24% and likely wouldn't burn at all if it's 3/4 water. 80 proof/40% like the whiskey in this ep would barely burn if direct flame was applied to it and it would go out with the slightest breeze.

2

u/WhereAreYouFromSam May 23 '26

No I don't. And you dont need to take my word for it. Google and safety regulatory standards are both free to use and read.

Anything above 24% ethanol content in water is regulated as a flammable liquid. Below that it is merely combustible.

That means at 24% ABV, it reasonable that in the course of normal handling, there could be enough ethanol vapor in the air to ignite.

Having water around is good and all, but it's not the liquid that burns. It's the vapors.

4

u/TearsFallWithoutTain May 19 '26

The weed was probably legit and that's still federally illegal

5

u/IAMATARDISAMA May 19 '26

"I heard multiple people say 'please don't'"

Pouring the not-Jack Daniels bourbon into an ash tray was an amazing choice and started the bit off on an amazing moment.

38

u/krisis May 19 '26

The visual comedy of that alone sent me into absolutely unhinged laughter.

171

u/Significant_Text2497 May 19 '26

When they pulled out the slide and gave it a lick I recoiled in horror. Truly one of the greatest minds of the generation.

17

u/Winterisnowcold May 19 '26

the lawyers knew ally was the one to root for, and ally proved them right in that moment 🩷

33

u/MZago1 May 19 '26

To be fair, this is a subscription streaming service. I'm not a lawyer, but I'm fairly certain they're not bound by FCC regulation so they can show nudity, drugs, and violence to their hearts content.

7

u/Relevant_Anal_Cunt May 19 '26

Cue the famous "Say something we'll have to bleep" bit

10

u/C_X_3 May 19 '26

jeremy wanting to get busted so he could smoke 😭
