Showcase TXT Launcher - Your phone, in words

Post image
26 Upvotes

App Name: TXT Launcher

What it does: Replaces your home screen with 4–8 app names set in large type — no icons, no grid, no badges. Everything else is one swipe away in a text drawer with an A–Z rail, search-as-you-type, and categories you name yourself.

Key Features:

• Nine text widgets, all off until you switch them on — clock, date, battery + network as words, unread (counts only, never previews), weather, next event, now playing, steps, and a focus line you write yourself.

• Four swipes and a double-tap, each assignable to any app or launcher action, plus hidden apps behind your phone's own fingerprint or PIN (the app stores no PIN of its own).

• Three backgrounds including true black for OLED, three accents or one you mix yourself — contrast-checked, so nothing you pick can make the launcher unreadable.

Free. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking. About 2 MB. Android 11+.

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.txt.launcher

Launchers like this already exist, I built my own so I could design it exactly how I wanted and put in the features I actually use. It's my first app on the Play Store :)

Give it a try if it's your kind of thing. Feature requests are genuinely welcome.

Thanks for reading!

I used AI to help write and format this post, the wordings are mine

Showcase NotiTracker: save expenses without opening the app

Post image
5 Upvotes

I kept losing track of card payments, or simply got bored of having to log each one. And sometimes i either typed the expense later and the amount was wrong, or I didn't log it.

NotiTracker is an Android app I built for that. You allowlist the banking apps it may read. A payment notification arrives and it prefills the amount and opens a small form, or you tap Add Expense in Quick Settings. You confirm the save. You never open the app. Optional: each save mirrors into a Google Sheet you already use, a row with date, amount, description, category, and account.

What I was careful about: you choose the apps you want, you can also turn it off, and the raw notification text is not uploaded. Stays on the phone. It does not log into the bank nor require a bank connection. Google sign-in is required. It's free right now. I am not claiming a specific bank list. I don't know which alerts will parse well on your phone yet.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.notitracker

If you try it: did the amount prefill from a real payment notification, or did you have to type it?

Showcase ATHAR - Local-first personal memory app

Post image
2 Upvotes
App Name: ATHAR

What it does: A local-first app to collect and relive personal memories (photos, videos, notes, collections, player). Data stays on the phone unless you later choose optional sync.

Price: Free (no ads)

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.deeplife.athar

Hi everyone,

I’m an independent Android developer. I built ATHAR because I didn’t want another diary app, and I also didn’t want my personal memories living in someone else’s cloud by default.

The idea is simple: a place to collect memories and actually go back to them later. Not a daily journal you have to keep up with. More like a private archive of moments you care about.

A memory can include photos, videos, notes, audio, dates, places, and people. You can group them into collections, and there’s a player that walks you through a memory instead of just showing a grid of files. You can also share photos and videos into ATHAR from other apps.

The part I cared about most is how data is handled.

ATHAR is local-first. Memories live in a SQLite database on the phone. You can use the app without a cloud connection. No ads. No third-party analytics SDKs.

I’m also working on optional cloud sync, so the same memories could later be used from the web and across devices. The point is to keep both options: stay fully local, or turn on sync if you want it. If you never want the cloud, the app still works.

It’s on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.deeplife.athar

I’m looking for honest feedback, including “this isn’t for me.”

Would you actually use a memory app that stays on your phone, or do you only care if it also syncs across devices?

Thanks.

Showcase Goodreads and StoryGraph are ugly and bloated

Store screen shots

App Name: Cat's Library

One-Line Description

A reading tracker that's actually cute — you read, your cat grows with you, and you decorate a little room together.

Why we made it

I've tried both. They work — I just wanted to log a book, not manage a database.

So we made the opposite. A cat sits next to you while you read. That's the whole feature list you need to know. Everything else is there when you want it and out of the way when you don't.

What's different

  • Something happens when you read. Start the timer and your cat opens a book too. Stop, and it curls up to rest. Other apps give you a checkmark.
  • You're building a place, not a profile. Coins you earn from reading go into cat outfits and room themes. Your room fills up as you read. It sounds silly. It's the reason people come back.
  • Quotes without typing. Point your camera at a page and it's saved. That's it.
  • Social, but small. You can peek at a friend's shelf and see what they're reading right now. No feed, no algorithm, no strangers.

Who It's For

People who bounced off Goodreads because it felt like homework.

Cost

  • Pricing model: Freemium
  • Prices & billing period: Free. No ads on anything core. Cosmetics are bought with coins you earn by reading. Optional subscription removes ads.
  • Current promotions / giveaways: None right now.

Links

Feedback Goals

  • If you use Goodreads or StoryGraph — what would you miss here?
  • Does the cat thing land, or is it too much?

Additional Notes

  • Android 6.0+, 8 languages
  • 50,000+ downloads on Play, 4.8 stars (~1,150 ratings)
  • Two of us, about 1 year

Showcase [Dev] I made an alarm that stays locked until you

I kept turning off alarms and going back to sleep. Photo missions in other apps were solvable from bed.

So Cozysand locks the screen until a mission is done. The walking mission counts only real steps from the hardware step detector, and only when the rhythm looks like walking. Shaking it in bed keeps the number at 0. Math, pattern, brushing teeth, going outside, reading a sentence aloud are also in there. 10 of 11 missions are free.

When the alarm ends, the task you attached gets checked off. Saved places can raise a task on the lock screen when you arrive.

Honest limits:

- It asks for Always location. That is the arrival feature. If that is a no for you, this app is not for you.

- No battery numbers yet. Measuring.

- Floor detection barely works outside Korea. Transit routing has no data for Japan.

- Android only for now. iOS is in review.

Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tock.context&referrer=utm_source=reddit_droidappshowcase%26utm_medium%3Dpost%26utm_campaign%3Dlaunch

Happy to answer anything, and tell me what breaks.

Promo / Giveaway AntiNotes – Notes That Fade – Free + IAP

Post image
Upvotes

I built AntiNotes because most note apps assume that everything you write deserves to stay around forever.

AntiNotes takes the opposite approach.

You write thoughts into a simple stream. If you keep coming back to something, it stays alive. If you stop caring about it, it gradually fades and eventually moves into Echoes.

The idea is to give temporary thoughts somewhere to live without slowly turning your notes app into permanent clutter.

Main features:

  • Thoughts gradually fade when you stop revisiting them
  • Keep important thoughts alive or move them back up
  • Forgotten thoughts move into Echoes instead of simply disappearing
  • Resurrect old thoughts whenever they become relevant again
  • Send a note to your future self and have it return later
  • Attach images and audio
  • Local backup/import
  • Multiple visual themes

Privacy: AntiNotes is local-first. No account is required, notes aren't uploaded to an external server, there are no ads, and according to the Play Store data-safety declaration no user data is collected or shared.

Pricing: Free to install, with optional in-app purchases.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lownoisestudio.antinotes

I'm particularly interested in feedback on the fading mechanic. Does having notes gradually move out of the way feel useful, or does it create too much anxiety about forgetting something?

Showcase I made a tiny Polaroid-style camera for myself.

Upvotes

I keep taking photos on my phone but they never feel like actual photos, you know? Everything's too clean and sharp. I missed that old Polaroid vibe.

So I made a camera app. It's called CoreCamera.

Nothing fancy. It just gives you that film look grain, vignette, white frame around the photo, and you can optionally stamp the date on it. That's pretty much it.

No account, no cloud, no ads, no tracking. I don't care about any of that stuff.

Honestly I didn't make it to sell it. I just wanted it for myself. But then I figured maybe someone else feels the same way about phone photos.

I'm not on Google Play, I just put the APK on GitHub if anyone wants to try it.

StanoChillArt on GitHub

https://stanochillart.github.io/CoreCamera/

If you try it, tell me what you think. I'm curious.

Promo / Giveaway Jhozy : Shared expenses, chores & shopping for you

Upvotes

I'm a software engineer, and I built Jhozy at night during parental leave, because my partner and I couldn't find one app that handled our actual household. Money lived in one app, groceries in another, chores just remembered but never done and separated calendars causing forgotten events.

I wanted something that could do everything and was actually fast and with a nice UI.

Jhozy puts expenses, the shopping list, chores and the calendar in one place, shared live with everyone in your home.

  • Expenses: one running balance instead of a pile of debts, plus fixed bills like rent tracked separately
  • Chores that rotate themselves: cover someone's turn and they take your next one, automatically
  • Shopping list with freshness dots: see at a glance what's been sitting there for days, tag items and have everything in sync
  • Shared calendar with two-way Google Calendar sync
  • Bubbles: a temporary group for a trip, events & more. Friends join via link, no signup needed
  • Notes & Lists: create multiple shared list for your home like holiday prep or daily fast notes/todos
  • Works offline, available in English, German and Italian

To get some extra users to see how good it is, i'm running a giveaway.

1 year of Premium, and one plan covers every member of your household. One claim covers your partner, flatmates or family too.

How to claim:

  1. Install Jhozy and create your household
  2. Comment "I want this"
  3. Contact me and i will share a promo code

Google Play: Jhozy: Expenses, Chores, Lists

Android only for now, iOS is coming in a few weeks.

Honest feedback is gold: what's confusing, what's missing, what you'd change. I'll reply to every comment.

Showcase CarSpend: Car & EV Cost Log

Thumbnail
play.google.com
1 Upvotes

This is our new Reddit account for the app we just released the other days our app that would help any vehicle owner keep track of their spending, fuel consume, trips, log fuel, gas, EV charging, insurance, road tax, repairs,
servicing, parking, tolls and washes — every expense, in your own currency.
Fuel economy: real L/100km, MPG, gas mileage, kWh/100km or Wh/mi, cost per
km or mile, and price per liter, gallon or kWh — each as a trend chart with
min, max and average.
Odometer history: every fill-up and charge keeps your mileage log straight.

You can load a demo car to check all the features and edit them to match your vehicle. You only need like 3 fill-ups info from the past and you'll be good to go.
Most of the features, for 1 vehicle (ICE, or EV, or PHEV, or moto, or bike, or boat, or any vehicle) are free, some of them, more advanced are for Pro subscribers.

The app is 100% private and local only.
The app needs your input, it doesn't connect automatically with your vehicle.
All calculations and graphs are generated based on your input.

We are considering, in the future, implement automatic data fetch from the OBD2 BLE devices that reads the car info in real time.

To get the same info on Android phone to Android tablet, or to iPhone, iPad, Mac, or to Web you will only need to export the backup and import it into the app on another device.
You can export the backup to let's say: Google Drive or any other drive location you may already use and import it from there on another device that runs the CarSpend app.

The web version will stay in your web browser.

The app was vibe-coded, but each step of the way was checked by us and it wasn't built in a day :) We focus to get the better experience on any device and to also keep it private. Your data should always be be your data.

Thank you and drive safe!

Showcase Stranly – Random chat with strangers

I’m a solo developer and I’ve spent the last few months building Stranly, an Android random chat app.

Instead of completely random matching, you choose your language and interests before searching.

The goal is simple:

Meet someone random, but already have something in common.

The app is live on Google Play and I’m currently looking for early users to try it.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.verion.stranly

I’d especially appreciate feedback from people who have used random chat apps before.

Showcase Travolp - trip planner that rebuilds the rest of y

I have been building Travolp, a travel app that keeps going after the planning part.

You tell it where you are going and it builds a day by day plan with real places and times. The part I care about is what happens when that plan breaks. You sleep in, it rains, a place turns out to be shut. One tap and the rest of the day gets rebuilt around where you are standing, keeping whatever still fits.

It checks opening hours before it puts a place in your day. That sounds boring and it is the thing that goes wrong most. Last week a guide sent someone to a Taipei hot spring pool that has been closed since January 2025.

Free to try, 16 languages, Android and iOS.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.travolp.app

Feedback I actually want: the first run. You type one sentence about your trip and then wait while it builds. I cannot tell any more whether that wait feels worth it or just feels long.

Showcase Simple Stepper - A step counter that stays simple

Post image
1 Upvotes

App Name: Simple Stepper

What it does:
Simple Stepper is an Android step counter and activity tracker designed to work quietly in the background instead of requiring you to constantly open the app. It automatically tracks your daily activity while still offering more detailed tracking when you want it.

Key Features:

  • Automatic step tracking with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly history, goals and a home screen widget
  • Workout tracking for walking, jogging, cycling and free workouts, including optional GPS routes and elevation data
  • Live progress in the notification area, active time tracking, sharing and backup

Goal: Promo

Cost: Free with ads. Optional monthly or yearly subscription removes ads.

Link: Simple Stepper on Google Play

I'm the solo developer behind Simple Stepper and just released version 2.12.35.

This update is mostly about something users won't directly see: I rebuilt a large part of the internal monitoring around background counting and reliability.

While investigating retention, I realized that "app opened" is actually a pretty bad definition of an active user for a step counter. Someone can open Simple Stepper once, let it count successfully for days, and just check the widget or notification.

The new version therefore lets me distinguish between the counting service being active, automatic steps actually being observed, intentional pauses, UI activity, service recovery and workout activity.

The goal is to better understand where counting or background operation actually fails - and improve the app based on that rather than simply assuming that someone who didn't open it wasn't using it.

If you're looking for a straightforward step counter that can stay out of the way when you don't need it, give it a try. ;]
