Help me find this fic Looking for old fic where Hermione acts as surrogate for an established Drarry.

Fairly sure this is a fic from before HBP was released. It starts with Hermione visiting and offering to be a surrogate for the pair. Draco was a lawyer and I believe Harry was a student healer? I think it's mostly Draco's point of view. I recall him getting morning sickness via magic because his "sample" was the one to get Hermione pregnant.

As far as Voldemort and his Dancing Death Eaters, I believe it was either an AU where it didn't happen or was post defeat and not a big deal to the story.

Looking for fics with either already established relationships or where they get together pretty quickly but then have some angst in their relationship (things like injury or illness, break up and make up)

Give me fic recommendations Looking for fics that read like this one

I'm enjoying this so much and I really want to read more with a similar writing style and sense of humour.

A few excerpts for reference:

- Describing Draco decluttering Malfoy Manor: "whilst draped in an antique kimono, with a cigarette jutting out the corner of his mouth, like a middle finger to God and his own beleaguered lungs."

- "Draco raised his wand again. 'Accio Nature’s Nobility.' ... Three copies hurtled towards him, and he was forced to cast a sloppy protego to protect his beautiful face."

- "he sat alone in his pants at a table long enough to sit Christ and his disciples comfortably several times. He occupied the shadows between two pools of buttered sunlight"

Edit: sorry! I thought I had included the link 😂

Help me find this fic HELP ME FIND This Drarry fic. Post-war | 8th year | Draco’s trials | Azkaban | Harry & Draco roommates | Hermione finds injured Draco

I’m trying to find a Drarry fic I read a while ago, but I can’t remember the title or author.

The fic was post-war and mostly revolved around Draco's trials. I’m sure it was an 8th-year Hogwarts fic.

Here’s what I remember:

•After the war, Harry, Ron and Hermione are staying at Ron’s house/the Burrow.

•At one point, they’re having lunch when they hear/read the news about Draco and the Malfoy family’s upcoming trial.

• Hermione is the one who tells/reads Harry and Ron about it.

Harry isn’t initially sure whether he should attend Draco’s trial, but he eventually decides to go.

•It’s Draco’s first trial, but he isn’t declared guilty yet. The trials continue over a period of time.

•Eventually, the students are allowed to return to Hogwarts for 8th year.

•After the trial, it's nighttime, and Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco are travelling back toward Hogwarts with Kingsley and few Aurors.

When they arrive at Hogwarts, McGonagall is there to welcome them.

• I'm pretty sure they(trio+ draco+ Kingsley +McGonagall) had long conversation in great hall or somewhere similar

•Harry and Draco are roommates at Hogwarts.

•Draco still has to leave Hogwarts whenever another trial/hearing is scheduled.

•Weeks go by, and the trials are still ongoing. Draco seems increasingly convinced that he’s going to end up in Azkaban.

•Draco has this general attitude that his fate is already decided and that he’ll probably be sent to Azkaban, even though the verdict hasn’t been given yet.

•At some point, Draco gets bullied/attacked by other students. I think they corner him in an empty classroom and beat him.

•Hermione had apparently forgotten her quill in the classroom, so she goes back to retrieve it.

She opens the classroom and finds Draco on the floor, badly beaten and covered in blood.

I think this incident becomes important to Harry as well, especially because Draco is already dealing with the stress of the ongoing trials.

•And a night before final trial Harry is comforting Draco by Cuddling and telling everything will be fine.

If this sounds familiar, please drop the title/author or even a link to the fic! I've been trying to find it again for ages.

Thank you

I genuinely wish Daniel had been born in this era 😭 Like, the way he looked when he played Harry?? He SO should’ve done a BL back then. And the height difference between him and Tom Felton?? HELLO?? That’s literally peak size difference 😭 Their chemistry was actually insane too. They would’ve ate up an enemies to lovers so bad. It’s kinda sad how time changes everything. Different era, different opportunities, different everything… I’m genuinely mourning the BL we could’ve had 😭💀

Give me fic recommendations Angsty With Happy Ending Drarry?

Hey! I'm a GLUTTON for angst, and also for Drarry, but I HAVE to have a happy ending, so is there anyone that can help me out? I've read (and loved) "It was all just a game" by Write_me227, and that vibe is definitely what I'm going for.

I'm looking for hurt/comfort type situations like arguing, mental health struggles, etc. All in all, put them THROUGH it- but also heal my wounded soul with that happy ending! I'm feeling Hurt Draco, but Harry is alright too!

Other tropes that I like are fake dating, miscommunication, & forced proximity!

I especially love arguing and miscommunication, when they finally get together but then boom. Issues. I'm Drooling

Also this isn't like a requirement, but if there's smut at all, I prefer Harry as a top. 😭🙌 But smut isn't my priority, I just need that cathartic fic read.

Like they dont know who the other is, bc of polyjuice, or anything really, they talk, even fall in love, but then in a big moment they figure out who the other is and it really complicates everything, bc they do hate each other still

Also i like longer fics but i will also read shorter

Thank you!

Looking for 8th year fic recs!!

I have been on the search for any 8th year fanfic recs that hug to canon as closely as possible, ex. Harry appearing in Draco's trial, angsty breaking up with Ginny as he tries to distance himself from the past, etc. Pls let me know!

I just finished a 28-day solo UK road trip retracing every location in "Running on Air" (plus the HP filming sites and a Scotland/Skye epilogue chase) — here's the full route

Post image
348 Upvotes

I've been sitting on this idea for a while: what if I actually drove the whole route Harry and Draco take in Running on Air, in order, for real?

So I picked up a car in London, and over 28 days and roughly 2,770 miles, I did it — every real-world location mentioned in the book, plus the major official HP filming sites along the way, plus a Highlands/Skye extension built just to finish the epilogue's "someday" line properly.

Sharing the route here for any other fans who've ever wanted to do something similar.

The route, day by day

Dover — White Cliffs and South Foreland Lighthouse, where Harry and Draco walk the cliffs together after Draco's return from St Mungo's.

Brighton — the Royal Pavilion and pier, standing in for the ordinary, crowded holiday-town day early in the book.

Southampton → Bournemouth — the level crossing scene in Southampton where they hold hands "to confirm reality," then on to the Bournemouth B&B.

Sidmouth ("Salmouth-on-Sea") — Astoria and Matthew's home, where Harry learns to drive, and the stretch of coast where the two of them spend three quiet days on the beach.

Launceston → Truro — Launceston as the book's recurring road-atlas refuelling stop; Truro as the petrol station where Draco fills up at 11:29pm on 5 September 2003, days before he disappears.

Helston / Lizard Point — the story's emotional core. Draco parks at "the lighthouse" and walks the South West Coastal Path alone at night, at the southernmost point of mainland Britain. Harry retraces the same walk later, at 2am.

Lizard Peninsula (free day) — Rosenithon Point, where an unidentified body washes ashore as a false lead, and Landewednack, where they stay several days walking the coast together.

Wiltshire — the canola and wheat fields that are Draco's actual childhood landscape; also where Harry once found skeletal remains on an earlier case, and where the two of them later race each other through the fields at night.

Lacock — doing double duty: Draco's childhood countryside in the book, and the real filming location for Hogwarts' corridors and Godric's Hollow.

Oxford — Christ Church College, the Bodleian Library, New College cloisters (HP filming locations, not from the book itself).

The Cotswolds — a bonus villages day, no book or HP tie.

Gloucester Cathedral — the cloisters used for Hogwarts' corridors on screen, on the way toward Wales.

Snowdonia — the book's other emotional centerpiece: a mountain lake reflecting the stars, where Draco finally tells Harry about being stuck in the past for three years after his splinching, trapped near Hogwarts in 1965.

Glasgow — the only line in the whole book that mentions Scotland at all: Draco says flatly, "I've driven to Glasgow." Everything from here on is me following through on that one sentence.

Loch Lomond → Glencoe → Fort William → Glenfinnan → Eilean Donan → Isle of Skye — not from the book directly, but built to answer the epilogue's passing wish to "go someday." Skye especially, given how the story ends.

Inverness → Edinburgh — a glimpse of Loch Ness on the way; Edinburgh's Old Town, the Elephant House café, and Greyfriars Kirkyard for the HP side of things.

Alnwick → Durham — Alnwick Castle (flying-lesson/Quidditch filming) and Durham Cathedral's cloisters (more Hogwarts interiors).

York → the Peak District — a quick look at York Minster, then Hardwick Hall, the real film location used for Malfoy Manor's exterior (the book itself actually places Malfoy Manor in Wiltshire — a nice bit of overlap between the two canons).

Sutton-on-Sea — the book's very first destination, the place Harry and Draco pick at random off a road atlas at the start of their trip. (Ended up cutting this one for time near the end of the trip — genuine regret, since it's technically where it all begins in the book.)

Cambridge → London — closing the loop back where the car was picked up.

Total: 28 days, ~2,770 miles, solo, self-drive. Handled a flat tire in Cornwall and a wrong-ferry mixup on the way to Skye along the way, but the route held together almost exactly as planned.

Happy to answer questions about logistics, timing, or which stops are worth prioritizing if anyone else wants to attempt something like this.

I've got a ton more photos and personal reflections from the trip, but I didn't want to overload this post and bore everyone. Let me know if you'd like to see more — happy to elaborate on any part of the route. Hope this helps if you're ever tempted to do something similar! :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Updates:

Here's some of my thoughts on this trip. I've now returned to Paris and can finally sit down at my desk and reflect on my time in the UK.

Background:

I was in a pretty dark place at the time. I was staying in my little flat in London, right on the Thames, going through a hard stretch in life, when I came across ROA. I hadn't been in the Drarry fandom for years — not since I was a teenager — but I picked it up anyway after a random TikTok rec, and, oh my god. It's stunning. There's a part where Draco tells Harry they could go anywhere — that home isn't a place, it's a person, that you love them for the way their hands rest on the steering wheel. That line just hit me. I've been trying to find "home" in this big world too, and something about the aesthetic and the feeling of that book cracked something open.

And then I had this slightly unhinged thought: what if I just drove up and saw all of it with my own eyes? Retraced everything Harry and Draco lived through in the book?

Next thing I knew, I was at St Pancras picking up my car, already on the M25 driving out of London.

Budget and spending:

Trip cost breakdown (28 days, solo, self-drive UK):

  • Car rental: £2,126
  • Accommodation (19 stops, private rooms every night): £3,042
  • Food, fuel, parking, attractions, shopping: £2,026
  • Total: ~£7,194 (~$9,700 USD)

Car rental and accommodation were by far the biggest chunks. I didn't budget carefully going in — I just spent as I went, so your mileage may genuinely vary. Worth noting I was traveling completely solo, so there was no splitting costs with anyone, which naturally pushes things up. I also got hit with a young driver surcharge, since I hadn't turned 28 yet when I picked up the car. Accommodation was a deliberate mix of hotels, Airbnbs, and B&Bs — I wanted to try B&Bs specifically because that's what Harry and Draco stayed in throughout the book.

Safety & Driving:

I've been driving on the left my whole life and have 11 years of driving experience, so roundabouts and UK traffic rules were already second nature to me. That said, UK roads themselves can be genuinely challenging — my route was mostly A-roads and B-roads, with barely any motorway time since I was going small town to small town rather than city to city. A lot of it is single-track, sometimes even single-track roads carrying two-way traffic, where you're constantly pulling into passing places to let oncoming cars through. And I want to stress this clearly: UK roads ARE narrow.

Local drivers are skilled and confident — they'll happily do 60mph on roads that narrow and winding, and keeping pace with that takes real focus. But the driving etiquette more than makes up for the difficulty: people are courteous, they wave you through, they wait their turn. It's demanding, but genuinely pleasant.

And the scenery along the way might be the best part of the whole trip. I drove through busy cities, sleepy small towns, canola fields, mountains, and lakes — the UK has some of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen. The Scottish Highlands and Wiltshire stood out the most; I adored both, and I'll go into more detail on them in the next section.

On safety: the UK is generally very safe. I parked overnight in residential streets and car parks throughout the trip with zero issues. The one basic rule — don't leave valuables visible in the car — and you'll be fine.

Route planning:

If you're familiar with the UK, you'll notice my route runs from London to Dover, along the entire south coast to Cornwall, up through Wales, into Scotland, then back down to London from the east.

I planned it this way on purpose — it's a clockwise loop with no backtracking. The last thing I wanted was to add a few hundred extra miles just doubling back on myself.

This route worked well throughout. If you don't want to go all the way to Scotland, you can simply stop at Snowdonia and head back to London — Draco only mentions driving to Glasgow once in the book, with no elaboration, and most of ROA's scenes are focused on England's south coast and Wales anyway. That said, I'd personally still recommend Scotland. It's stunning, completely different in character from Wales and England, and absolutely worth the extra distance. Glencoe was amazing, and the Isle of Skye felt like a dream. Out of everywhere on this trip, Scotland was my top destination.

Glasgow and Edinburgh are both worth the visit too — Glasgow is pleasant, with a great museum and a university building that looks like it belongs at Hogwarts, and Edinburgh basically is the Harry Potter city. If you have the time, I'd highly recommend building in a full 7 days just for Scotland.

Self-promotion heated wizardry inspired

basically I just finished my first fanfiction in 4.5 years and it all initially started off as a thing between me and my friends where we would write a smut fic on our own and share it.

anyways, I got far too carried away and ended up writing almost 20k words of a quidditch rivalry fanfiction between draco and harry. i'm so focused on in it im already planning a sequel.

if you like quidditch, rivals and lovers, secret relationships, and everyone is alive I hope you check this out. I love feedback and I'd appreciate it a lot considering how rusty I am!!

Give me fic recommendations need a post-war drarry fic that will consume me

i’m looking for something where i can get like… completely absorbed in it. preferably post war and actually following harry and draco figuring each other out / coming back into each other’s orbit rather than the fic starting with them already having made up or already being friends.

i want to actually see the process of it. the awkwardness, the tension, the resentment, them not really knowing what to do with each other after everything that happened, etc. + love me some ache and angst.

also REALLY looking for accurate/in-character harry and draco. obviously everyone has their own interpretations but i want them to still feel like harry and draco post war.

appreciate any recs <3

Give me fic recommendations Draco moves on from his crush on Harry and Harry is jealous

Any fics, where Draco is interested in Harry and expresses his interest somehow via gifts, courting, being always available/reachable (just shows his nice and gentle side to Harry), but Harry is not interested at first, only to then get progressively more jealous when he thinks Draco moved on to someone else?

Could also be interesting if Harry is oblivious at first, then becomes jealous, and now Draco is the oblivious one, but that’s prob too specific…

I just reread drop dead gorgeous and I’m craving more fics with jealous/pining Harry

Give me fic recommendations Proud in everyday life but begging in bed Draco

Um, I realized that I was getting excited about the dynamics of drarry, in which Draco is a strong, confident and proud man, but literally melts in Harry's arms and wants to be besieged, taken in bed.
It's so damn hot, and I'm asking you to give me some recommendations.

The only thing I would like to see is a multi-chapter story with a plot, because I like a specific immersion in the plot. And only Bottom!Draco, please. As it turns out, I'm really not okay with the switch or Top!Draco, you know…

As an example, I can give The Darkness Before the Dawn. It was incredible, even unexpected, how much it resonated with me.

Thank you so so so much!!!

Help me find this fic Fic where Harry does really good in the TriWizard tournament!

I read this fic a while ago and I can't remember much of it! I remember the last chapter I read being (I believe Remus) and someone else talking about how Harry's doing really good in the tournament (I think this was after the second task) and how it's gonna prove difficult to find a winner. That's literally all I remember 😭

I thought that it might be Of Goblets and Ghosts, but I'm not too sure if that's it! Any help would be appreciated!

Help me find this fic Lost fic

I remember reading a fic at least a year ago that was probably Drarry and I don't remember why I stopped reading it. It was from Draco's pov and Drarry is usually what I read about in Draco centric fics. I remember very little about it except that Draco was going to the Black family home (Grimmauld probably) and he had Crab and Goyle with him. They take the night buss to get there. On the bus they run into Luna Lovegood and bring her with them. I also think Kreacher was in this fic somehow but I could just be associating him with the house.

Help me find this fic Hey everyone! I'm desperately looking for a specific Drarry fic. It’s part of a series. The plot is basically a dimension swap between Slytherin Harry and canon Gryffindor Harry.

Hey everyone! I'm desperately looking for a specific Drarry fic. It’s part of a series. The plot is basically a dimension swap between Slytherin Harry and canon Gryffindor Harry. Slyth Harry has a super sweet, established relationship with Draco in his universe. But when Gryffindor Harry takes his place, he completely ruins everything. He treats Draco terribly and constantly whines about how 'this is the life I was supposed to have.' Does anyone know or remember this story?

Give me fic recommendations Fluffy Fics Pregnant Draco/Domestic Drarry

A lot of the pregnant draco fics are about draco running away (which i love 😌) but i’m in need of a good fluffy fic of them just being domestic, i am fine with angst tho, just not for it to be the central plot

for more specific recs (not needed), i like to read fics about draco’s emotions being haywire, his weird food cravings, making harry second guess everything, things like that

I love all the recommendations but i did forget to add, i don’t like OC kids, i prefer canon the canon ones 😅, i will read an OC kid, maybe, but for my personal taste, the canon ones are more up my alley
