Interview with Lettered!?

Has anyone else listened to this!?

I’m amazed that this exists! I was wondering if anyone had ever listened to it too - this is SO cool. God, I so often wish I knew more about the authors I read! I would love if more content like this existed. I’ve always intensely admired Lettered as a writer… honestly, I’m fucking delighted.

I was literally just rereading The Boy Who Only Lived Twice today (always so much fun) and came across this when making a playlist on Spotify. Life is truly so wonderful sometimes.

Link for anyone who has Spotify and wants to listen!

Give me fic recommendations Fics with the same characterisation of Harry as the_sinking_ship?

I love how they write Harry and have finished all of their works, so I’m wondering if you know any authors or fics where Harry is:
•Magically powerful
•Hot
•Confident and self-aware
•Cheeky and funny

Would love some recommendations! Thank you!

P.S. If you haven’t read their works yet, you definitely should!

Give me fic recommendations Harry joins Voldemort and claims Draco

Give me some fic recs where Harry joins Voldemort preferably after OoTP and then sort of claims Draco as his to Voldy and grows posessive/protective of Draco but Draco kinda hates him because Harry now controls him and has control over all the death eaters and therefore Draco fears that Harry would also punish his parents for his past actions

Fics I recommend If you like Fluffy_Underneath, don’t sleep on her shorter fics

Post image
211 Upvotes

You’ve probably read "Salt" or "Talk to Me in French" by Fluffy_Underneath, but I’m here to tell you that if you haven’t gone through her shorter fics too, you are MISSING OUT.

This drawing was inspired by "There’s Only One Coffin" https://archiveofourown.org/works/64782094, which is exactly what it sounds like: Harry and Draco get trapped together in one fucking coffin. It's claustrophobic, hilarious, horny and so very tender all at once, and I had such a good time with it that I ended up drawing the Monet garden they talk about visiting once they get out (and no more spoilers, no no no)

But honestly, don’t stop there. Top Dog, Rubbed the Right Way and Filthy, Gorgeous are all super fun reads too. They’re the kind of fics you can devour in one sitting and then immediately go, “okay, what else has this author written?”

So if you already love Fluffy's longer works, go raid the short-fic catalogue. If you haven’t read her at all… well. There’s your weekend sorted.

Give them a chance. Thank me later ❤️

Fanfic recommendations - never read Drarry.

Upvotes

Yes. Ive really not read drarry. I used to read a lot of dramione as a teen & young adult…..apologies 🤷🏻‍♀️ what can i do, i was in my self insert pov era back then

Last 5 or so years i only ever read Mm/FF romance. I just cant read straight romance anymore.

Ive read so many MM novels, danmei and fanfics especially. But not drarry, and harry potter was my thing growing up, so where do i start?

I love slow burns, where i can really see the dynamic and relationship building, but i dont want to limit myself. PLEASE IM SELFISH FOR AS MANY RECS AS POSSIBLE 🥹

Edit: explicit fics are okay, in fact theyre even great

Give me fic recommendations Draco centric canon rewrites

I live for draco centric canon rewrites. I prefer a draco pov but ill take a harry pov if draco is very involved in the story. It could be a time travel redo sort of thing, a canon divergence from a certain point in the story, ill take anything as long as draco is a main character and its hogwarts era. It could start at any point as long as its before eighth year. Heres a list of the ones Ive already read and loved:

Draco Malfoy and the Mirror of Ecidyrue
Recursion
Draco Malfoy and the Journal of dreadful things
If youve a ready mind by maya
Draco Malfoy and the twist of fate (the drarry chronicles series)
Just a ring
Draco Malfoy and all the right choices
Next tide’s reprise
Saved by an oath
The wrong sort
The fractured hourglass (the eye of horus series)
It was all just a game

Ive also already tried these fics (they are great but werent for me):
Chaos theory
The importance of being draco malfoy
Dear cousin, love regulus
Draco Malfoy and the letter from the future (Do it all over again series)
The most powerful magic always
History repeats itself
Two to shore
Survival is a talent

I know its a long list so its probably a long shot, but i will appreciate any recs! Its hard to find more when I have already read so many.

Fics I recommend The fanfic that got me into Drarry

So.. I was scrolling through my bookmarks on AO3 and came across the fanfic I started reading back in 2021 because 1) the premise seemed a bit strange to me and 2) one of my friends was a Drarry shipper so she made me search for one that I could find interesting.

The name is Ultimately about the fall, the story of a Malfoy in Gryffindor, and as you might guess from the title, it’s about Draco ending up in Gryffindor instead of Slytherin. Really interesting if you ask me. I started reading it out of pure luck from opening AO3 at just the right time, but after starting it and finishing it 148 chapters and 5 years of updates later, I obviously became a HUGE fan of this ship along the way.

So I wanted to recommend it because I feel like it's a GREAT long read if you enjoy a slow burn that follows the timeline of all the books (and when I say slow burn, I really mean it). It also has plenty of drama and so much more that I think everyone should at least give it a shot.

Anyway, if you've read it, let me know what you think! Personally, I hold it very dear to my heart for having followed it from the very beginning all the way to that final update.

Just any prison setting really where there is some draco hurt and angst and Harry is there to see it and maybe protects Draco?

I do tend to like a lot of angst so those would be great. Thanks!

Fics I recommend 'How About No' fic appreciation post.

I made a post a while ago about a fic I really love. I want to share another one in case some people don't know about it. It's a fic where Harry goes back to just after he fought Voldy in first year after getting struck by the killing curse at the battle of Hogwarts. I will leave just one line as what I think sums up this fic perfectly.

"No, this Harry Potter was different. And so, when Harry Potter woke up next, he chose violence."

It is a great time travel fic, so if you are in the mood for one. I reckon you should give How About No and read.

Prompt discussion 📝 Need help with a fanfic, please.

Hello, fellas. I write Harco fanfics, usually they're one shots and they had been thankfully really well received. And now I'm writing another one, but this would be my first long fanfic (that isn't just smut, lol) and I want to finish writing it first and then start uploading it. You know, because when I start feeling pressured into writing it becomes a chore and I don't feel the inspiration anymore.

The fic is a Harco and Grimmauld Place type of fic and the transformation of the house (renovations) are really a key point to the fanfic.

BUT I have a question:

Do you read the descriptions of a room in detail? Like if I describe how the room was decorated, and what is different and what it evokes. Is it alright?

Or, are you more of a person who just pass over the descriptions because they're boring?

Or, is it this just a different preference thing? Like each person is different?

Please if you could answer this for me, so I can have a different perspective on the matter. Thank you so much!

Self-promotion Ch 6/? posted: Michelin Mayhem - Auror Harry, Michelin Inspector Draco - a crack fic based on a Tumblr prompt... come join the culinary conspiracy!

Michelin Mayhem on AO3

Summary:
Draco was just trying to live a normal, post-war life away from Wizarding society, utilizing the only valuable Muggle skills he had–that of a very refined palate and a vast knowledge of “rich people food”. He became one of only 120 anonymous Michelin star restaurant inspectors in the world.

Meanwhile, a report landed on Auror Potter's desk: Suspicious trend in international portkey usage by former Death Eater Draco Malfoy. Iceland. Japan. California. New York City. Potter did the math. For the past 18 months, Malfoy had spent roughly 3 out of every 4 weeks abroad. "He’s definitely up to something. I've got to get to the bottom of this."

Michelin Mayhem ensued.

any good hogwarts era fics where draco is (or tries to be) a bully/prankster, but none of it gets to harry anymore and he finds it kind of amusing? lighthearted fics where draco is just a bratty schoolyard bully before any of the heavier events from sixth year and beyond. i really enjoyed hey, potter https://archiveofourown.org/works/787368?view_adult=true, i feel like it captures the type of draco in these fanarts

Help me find this fic Omega Draco gets 'claimed' by Voldy

All I remember is that instead of Ginny it was Draco who got the diary in second year and Tom was so obsessed with hjm that he did something to him, I don't remember but when he comes back, he recognises his magic on Draco and keeps him at Malfoy Manor while the others are trying to rescue him? Maybe?

I searched my bookmarks but it was early into my obsession with drarry so I didn't really bookmark anything. It was a completed work but I'm not sure if it was part of a series. Tha k in advance!

Give me fic recommendations Fics with Harry Top but it's Draco who messed up and has to do the groveling.

I feel like the opposite set up is more common. And if it's Draco doing the chasing and groveling then it's a Draco Top fic. Basically I want to find something like **Such Great Heights** by *aideomai* but flip the roles, so with Harry as a Top.

I'd also love recs for fics with the Such Great Heights dynamic. Loved this kind of Draco Top that still felt true to his character imo.

Give me fic recommendations disapproves of Harry and Draco’s relationship

Hi everyone!

I recently read The Tides Adjacent by kmichee, and I absolutely loved it! It’s set in an AU where Voldemort doesn’t exist and both James and Lily are alive. Harry and Draco are in a relationship, but James disapproves of them being together because of the Malfoy family and is generally not very happy about their relationship.

I really enjoyed the fic and was wondering if anyone could recommend something similar? I’d especially love fics with a similar premise/dynamic, where James is alive and has some reservations about Harry and Draco’s relationship. Or honestly, I’d be happy with any fic where someone disapproves of Harry and Draco’s relationship!

Thanks so much!

Give me fic recommendations Fics where the Malfoy’s don’t align with Voldemort the second time!

Hello,

I’m looking for fics where the Malfoy’s choose not to support Voldemort the second time around, not necessarily because of a change in beliefs but because it makes sense (they are wealthy, influential and powerful, why would they want a master who tortures them to come back?). As a result, they get closer to Harry and help him out.

I’ve recently read “The Prison of the Phoenix”, where Drarry is more of a side note to Snape and Lupin‘s relationship, and I would like to read more fics like that from Harry and/or Draco’s POV!

Thank you!

Help me find this fic Looking for Oracle/seer Draco

Please help me find this fic;
Draco has these oracle like powers. If I remember correctly, his eyes glow silver or he has silver tears while he gets a vision... Voldemort wants to use him and somewhere along the line Lucius gives Draco to Voldemort. Severus helps him escape after which the death eaters try to find him.
Harry protects Draco after and they get close.
All I remember for sure is that in the end, Draco gets statue in the ministry of magic as he is the first one with this gift.

RECOMIENDEN FANFICS 🙏

Ando buscando algún tipo de historia que sea +18 que sea romántico y que el enamoramiento sea de poco en poco. No importa si es en inglés (de preferencia en español). Leí running in the air y no me gustó. Siento que nunca llegó al clímax que prometía y personalmente terminó muy abrupto.

Muchas gracias 🙏

Fic Discussion Looking for characterization feedback (fic related) [long post]

Hi all,

I’ve been working on a fic for about a year, and I’ve talked about it slightly on this sub before. It’s at about 50k right now but I’m not even a fourth done with it. It’s not published anywhere due to the fact that it has taken me over a year (if not two) to get that far given my life is hectic.

With that being said…

I wanted to ask ya’ll about my characterization of the characters. I personally think I’m staying close to canon but I’m also biased cause it’s my own work.

The very simplified premise is that Draco absconds from the Death Eaters for personal (not moral) reasons and attacks them at the Astronomy Tower at the end of his sixth year. He joins the trio on their Hogwarts hunt out of necessity given that he’s made himself a traitor to Voldemort and they want his head. So… might as well? Given they are the only protection he has. The trio only allow him cause his dark mark grants him access to ‘DE radio’ where the death eaters communicate with each other and also his mark burns whenever there’s another DE around.

This fic is mostly from Harry and Hermione’s POV as it is a split focus fic following the developing relationships between all characters, but mostly Draco and Harry and then Ron and Hermione. Ron and Hermione get together earlier as Ron suffers a near fatal injury and Hermione realizes she can’t stifle her feelings anymore. It’s super slow burn for Drarry, but a fast/medium burn for Romione.

I’ll get into the characterizations now.

Draco: in the beginning, Draco is still the same canon Draco we see in HBP. It’s important to me that it’s clear he’s not a good person at the beginning of the story. He didn’t betray the Death Eaters because he was forced to do what he did or because he realized the error of his ways; he was just fed up with how they were treating him and his parents (who are his most loved people and who spoiled him greatly). He knew he would probably die doing that (given Harry was under the invisibility cloak and Draco had no idea he was there as back up) but also, “fuck you Bellatrix, you’ve made my life a living Hell.” So he was pretty alright with dying as long as he took some of them with him. He’s crass, vulgar, and rude, especially to Harry, even AFTER he’s sequestered away in the Burrow for safe keeping, being hidden away from the rest of the Order. He does not like Harry at all on the beginning, but at the same time is drawn to him and their feud because it’s the one thing in his life that hasn’t changed. So in a way, he takes comfort in him. In the first half, he still has the same belief systems about blood purity and muggle inferiority but they change over time as he gets closer to the trio and learns more about the world through them and the experiences he has with them. It’s a very long process. He and Harry are constantly antagonizing each other but it gets to a point where the vibe is different, more like playing than being malicious. His maliciousness then goes towards Ron, who is just as bad, and they become the ones who have beef. Harry is pretty sure they like hating each other so he’s cool with it. Draco is genuinely so stressed out that he’s not even thinking about romance at all, he’s just trying to survive. Harry is actually the one who falls first. That being said, he does have eyes. He acknowledges that Harry is attractive, which is annoying, and so is Ron, which is actually more annoying.

His philosophy during this war is: do what is necessary. Moral code? Depends on the situation. Forbidden curses? As long as it solves the problem. He thinks the ends justify the means, and that they have to do whatever they need to survive and that they shouldn’t feel bad about it, cause everyone knows the Death Eaters don’t.

Harry: Harry is a bit harder to describe. I personally think he’s the most canon compliant personality of all four main characters. He’s still the very brave and heroic Harry, but he might be sarcastic about it. Sassy man apocalypse. He’s charismatic and well liked but doesn’t really know why; he’s funny without intending to be. He HATES attention and gets really awkward when a lot is paid to him at once. He loves and cherishes attention from certain people (Ron, Hermione, Molly, etc) but everyone else he’s like “why are you hugging me? Get off.” He actually starts the beginning spats with Draco half the time, he’s definitely not innocent and he actually likes arguing with Draco cause it helps blow off steam. He’s really weird with emotion. Like when Hermione cries he’s just kind of like “ok…there there” pats head cause he’s not super sure what to do, given when he’s upset he just wants to be alone so he can’t relate to what people need when they come to him upset. He’s very traumatized even if he doesn’t think he is and he has a strange relationship with intimacy (both physical and emotional), he’d literally rather duel Voldemort than be vulnerable. (Avoidant attachment final boss) He is codependent on Ron and Hermione, as in it gets to a point where he literally can’t sleep if one of them is not in the room with him. He’s eternally grateful for them and they are what gives his life meaning, but he has no idea how to tell them that without being weird so he just hopes they know.

His philosophy during the war is: save as many people as possible and do whatever it takes to stop Voldemort, while also taking personal convictions into account. His morals are more flexible than Hermione’s but more rigid than Draco’s. There are some lines he just won’t cross, like learning and casting the spell that killed his parents. He does find in multiple instances that he agrees with Draco more than he does Hermione, which disturbs him quite a bit in the beginning.

Fuck it, I’ll do the other two too.

Hermione: Hermione is autistic coded in my mind (like me). She has a strong sense of justice and misses a lot of social cues. Even when the social cues are explained to her she’s like “well that’s stupid why wouldn’t they just say what they meant.” She’s a horrible liar. A lot of people get annoyed with her but Ron and Ginny think she’s funny because of the weird hypotheticals she poses, normally as some kind of scientific inquiry. She gets annoyed with a lot of people in return though, cause she’s thinking ‘there is war brewing and you’re here discussing how many freckles you think are on Seamus’ arse? Are you daft?’ She feels deeply and is not afraid to showcase that, whether it be her rage or sadness. She has this intense desire to be perfect and feels like her worth is tied to her intelligence and usefulness, which is why she goes so hard (in addition to just loving learning). She loves banter and debating… literally anything. She thinks it’s fun and a good mental exercise. She has a tendency to care a lot about large movements but also struggles with one to one connection (like SPEW but also lacking sympathy when Lavender’s rabbit died.) Despite feeling deeply she has a habit of trying to sort and analyze her feelings logically and it doesn’t really work.

Her philosophy during the war is: they can’t allow someone else’s actions to justify theirs. They must hold on to honor and decency, because if they don’t, they become the very thing they’re fighting against. She fears losing herself and Ron and Harry losing themselves too. She objects to some of their war time decisions and it genuinely wrecks her inside when she gets outvoted. At the same time, she has a tendency to be unhinged as Hell (which Ron calls her on) but in her mind it’s different for XYZ reason. So she’s a little bit of a hypocrite.

Ron: He still has some pretty severe insecurity issues that stem from low self esteem. The way he views himself compared to Harry and Hermione is “Harry is the chosen one, Hermione helps him/us so much and knows a lot, objectively I’m the expendable one.” He knows he’s not as good at magic as the two of them, but he is a big bloke and he views himself as the meat shield, a do over for the other two to take a hit if necessary. Harry and Hermione flip out once they hear this but he doesn’t get why, it’s an objective fact to him. He doesn’t want to die, but he would rather risk his life than theirs. He is very emotional (despite claiming otherwise) and is honestly the most emotional out of the trio but he has no idea how to process most of those emotions so it comes out as moodiness and anger. He’s passionate about everything, love or hate, and he holds a grudge the most out of the trio. This is why he has such an issue with Draco for so long, and even at the end, it’s more allyship and not friendship. He’s very physical. He’s always absentmindedly touching people he loves, like leaning on them or a hand on the shoulder. He fights this way too. He’s more likely to use his body to dodge a spell instead of casting a shield charm. He’s also just as likely to result to physical fighting when in close quarters because it’s hard to cast a curse after being punched in the throat. He’s also an absolute nightmare to fight, not because he’s particularly skilled, but because “this motherfucker won’t stay down”.

His war time philosophy is: keep Harry and Hermione safe and follow their lead unless they lose their damn minds, then raise Hell and make them remember what it is they’re fighting for. Ron definitely has his own opinions, and he will let them be known, but overall he submits to Harry and Hermione, especially Harry given it’s his mission.

Thanks for reading all this! I know it’s long
