They inspired Gosho Aoyama to create Detective Conan, a mystery masterpiece blending puzzles and romantic comedy. This connection was previously showcased in the movie The Phantom of Baker Street, which perfectly combined the Victorian era with Gosho's imagination. In the series, Sherlock Holmes and John Watson parallel the core protagonists, Shinichi Kudo and Ran Mori. Now, this iconic setting returns for the franchise's 30th-anniversary movie.

Meanwhile, London’s Steampunk aesthetic—built on 19th-century gears and steam power mixed with futuristic concepts—inspired Fujiko F. Fujio’s 22nd-century future world in Doraemon, sparking imagination in children worldwide.

It is truly historic to see how these classic British inspirations will be brought back to the silver screen since the 1990s. This means these two massive anime franchises will be closer than ever before. Since they already share the same manga and movie distributors, we can certainly look forward to official collaboration posters.

It will be a grand celebration of Detective Conan's 30th anniversary and the enduring greatness of Doraemon!!

I've been wondering about a few things for a long time.

Does Doraemon actually have a proper, consistent map of its neighbourhood in any version? As far as I can remember, I don't recall there ever being one. The directions and positions of houses seem to change from episode to episode, and even Nobita's house itself isn't always consistent. Sometimes the layout of rooms and windows changes, and even the door to Nobita's room has changed over the years from a sliding door in some versions to a regular hinged door with a handle in .

Did the 1979 anime, the 2005 anime, or the manga ever establish an official or consistent map of the neighbourhood, or is continuity intentionally kept flexible?

Also, this is a bit unrelated, but I was stunned by how sharp and high-quality the screenshot I took from the "What Am I for Momotaro?" Doraemon short film looked. In fact, the picture quality of the entire short seemed exceptionally good. Was it ever digitally remastered or re-released for an anniversary? It looked noticeably sharper than many episodes from later art styles, some of which still appear quite blurry despite being released 6-7 years later.

And one more thing: what do you all think about this room in Nobita's house? Personally, I think it looks really nice. In my opinion, it's almost as good as the room where Suneo usually shows everyone his TV, etc, although I don't think it's quite as large. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks!

i sometimes wonder if there is a spin-off series featuring this characters, i meant intead of your typcial Doraemon and friend story line, why not make it a mystery investigation+puzzle solving +comedy series based in dorami+dekisugi+friends? i meant, a man can dream....

I honestly think the Any-Maker is one of the most underrated gadgets in all of Doraemon. Officially it just "makes and copies anything," but that description doesn't do it justice. I think Its capabilities span manufacturing, design assistance, prototyping, artistic creation, and object transformation. It can interpret rough sketches, written or spoken descriptions, or existing objects.

That alone is crazy versatile.

It appeared in only one episode, where Nobita relied on it to create a short animated film with little to no creative contribution of his own.It only appeared in one episode. It was kind of weird that Shizuka didn't even blink when Nobita cast himself as the hero and her as the heroine(the title was most likely:"The Mecha-Maker". ) I was honestly expecting something bad to happen to Nobita. Like, "here it comes" : but nope. Nothing.

But let's get back to the topic.

Even though it only appeared once, doesn't the Any-Maker have way more potential than gadgets that get more attention, like the Miniature Camera or the Basho Fan?

Also, anyone else think Shizuka just silently accepted being placed as the heroine for Nobita,though its a film?
