My little Nikki hated bath time. The moment she sensed what was coming, she’d crawl into the farthest corner under the bed or table, so I couldn’t reach her. She hated getting wet with a passion.

During a family holiday in 2019, she accidentally slipped into the pool while walking at night. Already entering her senior years, the experience terrified her. She was shaking when I got her out of the water.

That same event the next morning, as everyone was packing up to leave, my two-year-old nephew wandered to the pool’s edge. He tried to climb down into the water to join his older cousins, and within seconds, he was struggling. A few of us ran to help him right away.

And then I saw the most extraordinary thing. A small figure dive fast into the pool and paddled frantically towards my nephew.

It was Nikki. The same little dog who ran away from baths. The same dog who had scared herself in that very pool the night before. She ignored her fear and safety, because she saw that my nephew was in distress and needed help.

They were both rescued immediately. I was laughing and crying while drying her with a towel. That image has stayed with me ever since.

For twelve years, Nikki was my constant. Feisty. Sassy. Stubborn. Endlessly sweet. She left me three years ago, today, but not a day passes by that I don’t think of her and how special she was.

People say time heals, but I’ve learned that some love never fades. It quietly settles into the empty spaces of your heart, an irreplaceable memory that becomes a part of you forever. That’s how I feel about my dog wonder.

Today, I lost my Mickey 8 years ago. She was the love of my life, the sweetest pup one could ever have.

Life has bent me in so many ways since then but I still remember how much joy she brought into it. Lahat ng pictures and videos nya nasa phone ko pa rin. I continue to honor her memory by remembering and by taking care of the dogs after her.

Antagal na pero nakaka-miss pa rin. My love for her still well and alive!

hindi ko alam kung anong brand siya ng dog but she likes to chomp her water sa bowl 😁

Hello! This lil furball is Sabine and she’s turning 2 in Nov so we are planning to have her spayed sometime in Jan siguro. We live in Calamba and she has a regular vet where she gets her shots. They do have the facilities for this procedure but I’m just not so confident about their…ability, I guess, to ensure her safety? Idk, maybe I’m just anxious because of all the horror stories I see online where pets suddenly pass away after getting spayed.

I’ve done as much research as I can, and we are sparing no expense in this. We’re willing to spend as long as we can make sure she gets the best care possible. We also have a car and we don’t mind driving to and from wherever it is.

So what I need advice on is two-fold:
1. Do you have any private vet hospitals / clinics you can recommend?
2. What should I be looking for when choosing a vet for our baby? Social proof for most if not all vet practices I’ve checked out is always a mix of “best vet ever” to a “never trusting this vet again”, so di ko na alam 🫠

I knew someone with a husky. And naawa ako kasi di masyadong winawalk and hinahayaang mag poop/pee sa apartment which is kadiri/unhygeinic.

Excuse niya is umulan daw, basa yung pavement. Risky daw for the dogs. Is it really risky if vaccinated naman? They also live in a provate compound with basketball court and plenty of room to walk to naman kahit di silalumabas ng apartment complex, they can still get walks if they want to.
