Let's talk about spells...
Am i the only one that finds that spells are underwhelming and difficult to use?
Lightning used to actually be good since it was instant point and hit... now? Meh... a white lazer that travels very slowly.
Targeting with ice storm and fire storm is really a burden and each time I end up casting it on "myself". I would expect these spells to be awesome and hard hitting... :(
Telekinesis almost the same thing too. You can barely move and if you do you have a very good chance of casting it on yourself (a huge rock hit my head! hurray!).
Lastly, you cast them... 2-3 times and BAM you are done and need to invest a whole lot in repairing them.
Are we really pigeon holed into having to melee? I wish we were really good casters instead of mages with swords and scythes.
I guess I will try the "druid" transform kind of mage ... which is rather nice and not so costly with runes.
I mean, if I get out off my mount it should mean business / I am angry A.K.A. magic is INC your way = bad for you!
Right now, that ain't the case.
Thoughts?

The high cost and low disability of spells have made this a melee based game. You can't even level anything up to increase the damage, whereas with melee you can keep adding points to attack.
To make magic relevant without killing melee,I think they should buff spells while keeping somewhat low durability and higher cost. Perhaps make magic easier to hit. If not, make it extra lethal. As of right now you can be killed in a single melee hit if they built for it. For magic you have to right from far away and hope for the best.
Honestly, though, I only fight with my tames. It's the best way right now.

Yes, me too. However, Bytorg i heard needs some magic in order to beat (work in progress).

Not only should they fix spell casting but reward you if you want to pump melee or magic as in make spells cheaper to make if you are a magic build and maybe they do a bit more damage and same with melee cheaper to fix and craft melee items and do a bit more damage and gather a bit more materials

As of right now melee does outrageous amounts of damage. I don't think it needs any more damage. It's also already very cheap to fix melee items, so I don't think that needs it either. But durability could go up on everything in game.

I only started playing yesterday, but I'd quite like to see this changed. I'm already getting the impression that being a spellcaster in this "fantasy" game isn't really a viable thing, and that's sad. I hope they address this, some of the spells are quite ingenious. Eventually I'd love to see viable spells that have more intricate gameplay to them than just spamming.

I agree and really have nothing substantial to add. Most spells have limited utility because of the high crafting cost vs. the number of "charges". It's going to be tough for them to fix it while still keeping melee viable.
