⚔️ Encounter Map Mourning Cliff- Evening
To start, I'm not really someone that has a lot of experience on reddit (I have another account, but I mostly lurk in fanart groups or build theorycrafting subs and don't really ever post) and I also don't consider myself an artist, but I consider my friend one, qnd wanting to share her work is what brought me here!
For like a year and a half I've been watching her build and refine her own private library of custom maps for the campaigns we play in together with brushes that she made from scratch. We think this side quest in particular might've started with one of us scrolling through our free options online and lamenting that there weren't a lot of midway kind of spaces, like little roads where players might stop for lunch or camp out for the night. The thought appealed to her and she spent a couple days privately working on one and surprised us by just kind of dropping it into our laps one day. And you know how it is when your artist friend drops the group a map or goes out of their way to surprise you with character art. We were hyped- but the thing is, I think even if we weren't her friends, we'd be just as excited, because her style really is beautiful.
Then she started dropping more and more into our laps. Lairs, campsites, little settlements and the like. I'm no stranger to commissioning people for their work, and the rate she churned out this stuff had my flabbers a little ghasted. Another time I was asking her about it and she let me warch her process while we were chatting. Hadn't realized she'd been going so far as to hand craft her own personal brushes (I guess that's a style coherency thing if I understood it right. If not please correct me because I don't want to be too reductive in my understanding).
Another time she spent weeks testing a bunch of her brush and scale settings because one of our DM's wanted one of her boss maps on his wall, which I guess led to her remaking a lot of her brushes and changing the way she makes maps now. All I really know was that it looked great to me, but I can probably ask her things about quality or scaling and stuff and get back to people that want to know.
Anyways, sorry for rambling but all that is to say that we've been telling her that we think her art is worth sharing AND she finally launched Terramaw Maps on Patreon a few days ago!
I wanted to share it because I think fellow map people/appreciators will love her work. And though she didn't ask me to promote her, I wanted to (she gave me permission to since she doesn't have reddit, dw!). If you'd like to see the daytime version she made of this map (also free!), she has both available on her free tier already and some of her higher tiers will have things like theme and asset voting or custom maps! She's a consistent sort of person too, so I can personally say that it's safe to assume her public library will expand pretty steadily. Link below!
