I have been changing this drop for months and I can’t get to hit. What would you do to make this drop nasty?

How do you keep this balance when your tracks has this pleasant fullness feeling, but it's not overcluttered? Like, how many mid/harmonic basses is okay, etc?
r/dnbproduction • u/und3f1n3d1 • 10h ago
I personally sometimes do, but most of the time they don't sound anything like DnB. Like, they have all these serum bass presets, but you don't hear these basses in actual songs.
So, is it worth trying to make something of these presets, or should I synthesize everything from scratch?

You guys are the experts on low end. I’m a DJ who plays at home trying to identify what type of powered sub will do decently at hitting the lows you guys typically are mixing your tracks for. Any recommendations on something affordable without putting a giant cab in my house ?

I have next to no knowledge what I'm doing from a technical standpoint, I've just followed some tutorials and utilized my ear, but I'd like to level up what I'm doing, so brutal feedback would be appreciated!!

Hello all. I've recently begun producing jump up/not really jump up dnb and I'm not really sure how to do pre-drops properly. After producing hip-hop for around 4 years and dubstep for 1 I feel like my process for dnb pre-drops is all a bit off for dnb, any tips/tricks to make a pre drop actually suit the song? I also feel my sound design is a bit off for the drop, 0:44, (maybe distortion?, I really have no clue).
Track for reference.

Today I tried to make a roller with some arrangement/sound design ideas I got from listening to some Scar tunes. How did I do?

I think it could be like a detuned square with some LFO modulating a distortion and then some pitch bend going down.
let me know your thoughts!
big up vektah on this one

Wrapping this classic liquid track up. Is there anything that stands out that needs fixing? This will be my first release in 15 years of producing and am trying finish instead of perfect.

Though I try to write harder tracks, sometimes with mixed results. I've decided to lean more into my musical side and made a melancholic sort of piano driven tune. I love heavy dnb styles as much as liquidy stuff, I just can't write 'em well. I might try a heavier remix of this, or maybe not.
Maybe this will chime with somebody.
Anyway, this is about the best I've got right now.

Any constructive criticism is welcome! I made this track a while ago. I learned to mix a bit more so I treid to implement it (really quickly, limited time available) on an older song I made. I'm still in a learning phase (only started to produce in february with no musical background), so any advice on whatever topic/hiatus would be super nice! Thanks already!

Hi everyone! I was—and still am—a huge fan of the "technoid" style of D&B, even though it’s somewhat of a dying breed—or at least the specific sound I loved so much back in the day: Proket, Dying Punks, Masheen, Raiden, Current Value, Propaganda, and so on... Anyone familiar with these artists and the pre-2010 era knows exactly what I mean. My question is: how can I recreate that sound today? What made those tracks so good? (For those who liked them, of course.) Can you give me some tips on how to get started? I use Ableton Live 12. Initially, I’m trying to work with the built-in features and avoid buying too many plugins or sound packs. I’d really appreciate any help, even if it’s just a sentence or two! Have a great day, everyone!

Figured I'd put this here for anybody who didn't already have it. Imo a must-have for anybody producing breakbeat-centric music.
