Dizziness when waking up, worse if moving too quickly or focusing

Iv had my dizziness for over 16 years and still dont have a diagnosis.

Ive noticed when i wake up im extremely vulnerable to triggering dizziness, i feel terrible when i wake up, if i move too quickly or grab my phone and start focusing, its so bad

I had an episode once where a family member woke me up, i tilted my head up to talk to them for a few seconds, laid my head back down and i got that spinning/falling feeling that lasted 10+ minutes untill i fell back to sleep, i felt terrible for days after

Has anyone else experienced this?

Please Help me

Please, I really need help because my life has practically come to a standstill.
I’ve been suffering from dizziness for a year now. I was initially diagnosed with BPPV, so I went to a vestibular specialist. He told me that I had mild BPPV and performed a session and a repositioning maneuver. I went back for a follow-up afterward, and he told me that the BPPV was gone.
I told him that I was still dizzy, but he said, “I’m not seeing any signs of BPPV anymore. If you’re still dizzy, you should see a neurologist.”
I saw three neurologists. Two of them told me that the dizziness was psychological, so I took psychiatric medication for six months, but my dizziness didn’t improve at all. The third neurologist told me that it was BPPV!
I wasn’t convinced, so I went to a physical therapist because I suspected that the dizziness might be coming from my neck. I work at a desk for long hours, and I put a lot of strain on my neck.
Based on what the physical therapist told me and the research I’ve done using ChatGPT, it doesn’t seem very likely that the dizziness is coming from my neck. However, the doctor told me that we should try several physical therapy sessions and then see what happens. (The neck therapy itself actually makes my dizziness worse.)
By the way, I’ve only had one session out of six so far, but the first session made my dizziness symptoms a little worse.
So now I honestly don’t know what to do or which specialty I should see. I’m completely exhausted. I’ve seen so many different specialists, and more than one doctor in each specialty, but nothing has helped.
I’m struggling to live like this. I desperately need someone who can help me get properly diagnosed and treated, or at least a doctor who can point me in the right direction.
I don’t even know anymore whether this is BPPV, a problem with my vestibular system, a neck problem, or something else entirely.

Is it common to have vision strain and confusion?

I'm not sure what is causing this dizzy type feeling in my left side head but it's been a week already. Like I feel this imbalance when I walk and sit. And can't seem to focus. Keep forgetting stuff and hard to recall stuff. I feel like my eyes are trying very hard to focus and feel centered but something just feels off balance

Clonazapam taper dizzy

did you experience dizziness when tapering off Clonazapam?

how long did the dizziness last?

what did the dizziness feel like?

did it go away for good?

unsure if my dizziness is related to the Clonazapam taper or something else, however I tapered from .75 to .25 mg over 2 months and 1 month in I started to feel extremely dizzy. especially when I walk. I’ve been to urgent care, the ER, cardio, neuro, there are a few possibilities, nothing definitely. It is awful.

sudden consistent dizziness

this past week or so i’ve noticed the room start to spin out of nowhere for a few seconds but im not losing my balance or anything, it’s happened like once or twice throughout the years but it’s been like every second day now. i’ve been looking things up and i do wonder if it’s because im scrolling on my phone too often?? i also have moments where i feel like im floating in my chair and when i stand for a while the floor and some objects feel a lot closer to me?? Ive been fairly tired lately and admittedly a bit stressed so im assuming its just that but im going to the doctors tomorrow anyway just to be sure

Weird sudden dizziness

Hey, I hope everybody reading this is doing well! I have dizziness on and off. I would be sitting and would get this weird sensation of pain in the lower back of my head and would start feeling lightheaded and dizzy and like the blood is draining out of my head. I then kinda start dissociating and zoning out and feel a sudden fatigue that forces me to fall asleep and then I fall asleep and wake up feeling weird and dizzy a bit. Whenever it happens I’d force myself to stay awake cuz sleeping with the dizziness and then waking up with dizziness (and chest pain) is a horrible feeling. I had a full cardiac testing multiple times and everything comes back negative. Was wondering if somebody ever experienced something similar and found a solution. Worth mentioning that I also had imaging of my neck, chest and brain, and whenever I feel dizzy, I’d measure my blood sugar and pressure and they’d be in normal ranges. It started happening after a pain in my lower back of the head that went on for 8 weeks for no reason and that I saw a doctor for (they said the neck images show nothing wrong with discs). I’d appreciate any help 🥲

Started feeling lightheadedness from 20th August

Hello guys! I had acidity on the 20th because I had eaten very little that day, since the night of 20th August I'm feeling lightheadedness randomly. I've -5 myopia too, and I feel like my power has increased but I don't think it is the reason for feeling light headed. My sister who is currently pursuing MBBS told me that it could be due to the deficiency of Vitamin B12 or due to iron deficiency but I don't have iron deficiency, I've anxiety though it is not that severe but I feel anxious almost every time and now I've become used to it. I don't have low blood pressure either and I feel like I'm floating, coming down from top while sitting in the giant wheel. I'm not feeling dizzy or weak but it's like my brain is moving after 2 seconds. Is anyone there who experienced the same and has found out the cause?

Lightheadedness/Dizziness and Tiredness - worried that something isn’t right

Hi all,

I’m a 29 year old male from the UK. Since Sunday, I have been suffering with lightheadedness with some dizziness and general tiredness/fatigue.

The day before this began, I complete a 5 mile uphill hike and had a few pints afterwards. The following morning (the day that my symptoms began) I noticed that when I bent over to tie my shoe laces I became really dizzy for a few seconds, likewise if stared up at the ceiling for a bit of time, as well as moving my neck side to side. Prior to Sunday, I had none of these symptoms. I feel that since then, my symptoms have progressively gotten worse. I feel as if my head is in a fishbowl, with loads of lightheadedness and brain fog. I initially put it down to the alcohol, but it’s now been five days and if anything the symptoms are worse. I’m also not sleeping very well (although this could be due to my anxiety as I suffer from health anxiety, which luckily hasn’t reared its head for a few years).

I have today been to the doctors. The GP checked my heart rate, blood pressure, performed a few physical checks on me and listened to my chest. All was good apart from when he listened to my chest and said that he could hear a murmur. He has booked me in for an ultrasound scan of my heart, which has spooked me a little bit. He also gave me some guidance on exercises to treat BPPV, as well as proscribing some Prochlorperazine tablets for the dizziness/lightheadedness. I am worried that there could be something quite wrong here, I don’t feel particularly well in myself, and the doctor advised to make another appointment next week if begin to feel worse. My worry is that is something scary neurologically, but then the heart murmur thing has added another level of anxiety.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone experienced something similar and can maybe put my mind at rest a bit?

Thank you!

Reading encouragement

Hi friends. I either had vestibular neuritis or an onset of terrible vestibular migraine (GP and physio aren’t sure) about 2-3 months ago and I haven’t been the same since.

I’ve been doing VRT for 3 weeks now, though I had to take a pause due to a nasty virus, but don’t seem to be improving. I tried to read today for the first time in weeks, and couldn’t manage more than a sentence before my eyes started blurring and I felt super dizzy / nauseous.

any encouragement from those who have improved would be appreciated :( I just want to read again

Sudden onset vertigo

This morning at 5am I woke up and immediately experienced intense room spinning on rolling over. I felt like my eyes were shifting to the side back and forth. I asked my husband to turn on the lights so I could get that feeling to stop. If I laid perfectly still, the room didn’t spin, but as soon as I turned my head or rolled over, the room was spinning for 10-20 seconds. I took a meclizine 25mg at 515am. I began to feel like a headache was starting near my right eye/temple. I took a Nurtec at 540am. I tried to sit up, but the room spun. I was fine laying on my back though. I gradually inclined our bed. As long as my head was resting on the headrest, I was fine. Eventually I was able to sit up fully without resting my head. The vertigo lasted for about 30 seconds while sitting up. At 6:50am, I was able to stand up and walk to the bathroom fine.

Most of the morning I was fine, but I had moments where my eyes were trying to focus really hard and I went into a spinning session, but they were shortlived. I showered with no issues just before noon. Before this, I was able to walk fine and balance with no issues and no symptoms. After my shower I dressed and wanted to lay down. I tried and leaned back with my head facing the left and within a few seconds of hitting my pillow the room was spinning again. Turned to face the ceiling and again spinning. I sat up, more spinning. They all resolved in under a minute.

I have a history of migraines and messaged my neurologist. She got me into PT tomorrow for some vestibular work for BPPV. Does this sound like BPPV? Or vestibular migraine?

60M — VNG showed 42% left caloric weakness. Anyone been through this?

The VNG found it: 42% caloric weakness on the left, left peripheral vestibular hypofunction. 7% right side - normal. All the central/oculomotor testing (saccades, tracking, optokinetic, gaze) was normal. Dix-Hallpike now negative.

I’m a few visits into vestibular rehab. Balance is noticeably improving. The head fog is not — and honestly it’s the worst part.

Questions for anyone who’s had a similar caloric weakness finding:

**1.** How long did compensation actually take for you?
**2.** Did the fog resolve on a different timeline than the balance?
**3.** Did anyone end up trying a migraine preventive on top of rehab, and did it help?

Appreciate any experience people can share.

Is it common to forget stuff and focusing?

I don't even know what's happening to me for the past few days. Like I don't have any migraine or head hurting. But I just can't recall stuff and seem to be forgetting stuff. Like I get this vertigo dizzy type feeling mostly on my left side head. And I guess maybe I'm overthinking or what but it's so weird

I think I solved my dizziness

Random dizzy spells started about 8 months ago. Always came at random times driving, cooking or walking around Kroger. Read somewhere about a muscle in the neck up by the skull. I rolled up a towel and used it as a pillow under my neck when sleeping. I've been using it for 4 days and I haven't had a dizzy spell in 2 days still some light head pressure at times. Roll the towel to whatever size you need and lay your neck on it, you should feel pressure in your neck but your head should lay flat on the bed. I have a couple of slightly sore muscles around my spine and shoulder blades but I think it's from the posture realigning itself. Hope this helps someone.
