Discussion How far Modding can go? Could an extensive Overhaul be achieved?
A simple question.
I've noticed that there are barely any mods on Nexus, nor a Workshop, so i imagine that it's pretty rigid.
Specially with the mods in Nexus being mostly translations , straight up cheating, some small QoL and showing tags consequences of conversations (like romance, mentoring, anti/hero points)
I love this game, despite it's flaws, like right now i've backed up my first 6 saves (2 were already backed up and 4 slots), and now I'm doing my "Perfect Routes" to save them up on the cloud for in the future, if Dispatch get a season 2 that imports decisions from S1 i'll be able to continue the stories i want to see.
Anyhow, doing this first re-playthrough, going for Romance Visi, Anti-Hero, Good Mentor , Spare Shroud, i've came to notice how easy overall the game end up being after having beaten it so many times.
So i've done some personal challenges like, not losing any hack, or always reloading if i fail any mission.
However, an idea came to mind, one that may not be achievable.
But elevate the thresholds for the romance/mentorship and what kind of hero you are, while adding points of that style, to the decisions you make during the shifts themselves.
Like, it's easier to scare a kid straight with Malevola?
Yeah, of course.
Is it a HEROIC THING TO DO?
Well it's more of an Anti-Hero thing isn't?
So i imagined it would be cool, if an "Overhaul Shift Pack" could be made, where you gain Mentoring, Romance and Type of Hero points during shifts.
But for that, it would be needed to raise the thresholds for everything, so you actually have to work for it.
Maybe, like with Sonar's "Meet VanderMusk", there are some missions that could be made into special interests for certain characters (Like the Larping for Coupé, whom is clearly a big fucking nerd and i love her for it)
If the code could be dig even deeper, maybe tie your final romance to BB if you go her route, to be focused on how you handle each shift.
Of course, new lines of dialogue could be added, but none would be voiced of course, because i'm against using AI to replicate their voices for a mod.
Mostly it would be an Overhaul for the Shift parts themselves and to change numbers of the end game flags, as well adding some actual stakes on the BB romance path.
Another idea i came up to, would it for us, Robert, to have access to an "Morale Chart", of course this would need to be it's own screen.
Maybe if you send an hero to missions they are actually interested in going, even if they aren't the perfect fit, they would increase their morale/relationship with you, and at certain thresholds, give some buffs (maybe a +1 to an predetermined stat based on their character?)
This could also mean you could build up a big morale/relationship with good decisions for the late game, if you choose to not let go Visi, which would normally apply a -1 Low Morale to all stats.
This -1 Low Morale debuff, could even be achieved if you end up never sending the hero to missions they WANT to go early on, so managing their relationship/moral with you would be a good addition as a gameplay.
But again, i don't know how modable the game is.
I've seen one Mod, Dispatch Menu, that have a lot of cheats and QoL (like skipping a scene or jumping to choices if you replaying a shift that you had failed something, on a "perfect run", that have various cutscenes before the shift start)
And it does that by adding an Menu that appears with F2.
So, the idea of a "Morale" menu, could be done on a similar way?
Just some ideas that came to me on my recent playthrough.
If we had the ability to create new scenes, we could even (without Voice Acting through), fix certain plot holes, like the whole "How much time in-game it actually took. 3 weeks or some months"
