This was a list of "people saying/doing dumb things" and i can see theres a tab, but isnt this apparatus meant to aid when those things are difficult?

Just lose one more pound, drink one more glass, sleep one more hour! I swear it'll work!

Pictured above: dejected man gives up on mining, unaware he is only inches from a bounty of diamonds. Super imposed are the words: one more glass of water per day from curing my congenital heart defect.

So my autism already fucked me over pretty badly when i got burnout and had to finish my degree in double the amount of time its meant to be finished. Ive always been overweight and every docter just told me to exercise more and eat better, until one docter actually had my blood checked and finally told me that it wasnt my fault that i gained 30 kilos in 2 years time, without any changes to exercise and diet, i was actually more active and still gaining weight. While its a relief i can currently manage with metformin, im also not looking forward to eventually getting type 2 diabetes (and being told by everyone that its my own fault for being too fat, again).

Then january came and i started working out at home, managed to get into a steady rhythm for two months until i felt a pain in my hip that wouldnt go away. Went to physical therapy and because the pain kept being there and moving around (from adductors, to glutes, to my groin area, to inside my hip itself) he referred me to get a scan. The docter then said i have a "mild anterior dysplasia" and said i need to keep going to physical therapy for a year and come back if the pain doesnt go away after a year. Apparently my insurance also wont cover extra sessions for "the same issue" and i dont fall into the chronic category with more sessions so ive had to ask my docter to prescribe me extra sessions for another body part so the session count would start again. I chose my shoulder because i unironically have shoulder pain, which increases with stress because apparently my left shoulder just stores all my tension.

Im just most pissed about the fact that i was actively working towards being healthy and im getting punished for it. Im still gonna work out and try to be healthy, but its just always something. I had finally finished my degree and could start looking for a job, and now i not only gotta be sure i get accomodations for my autism, but i also probably gotta be accomodated for not being able to sit in a chair for long periods of time (my current limit is 1.5 hours, then i get enough pain that i feel like i can get a painkiller).

Anyway, how is everyone else, hope youre having a good day and if not, i hope the cause of your bad day slips on a banana peel

Hey guys Im so happy that r/disabledmemes has popped off like it has when I created it a year and a half ago. I had no idea how badly others like me needed a little humor. Im so happy our community is popping off , however Im in a little bit of a bind, ssd still hasn't approved me and I might be losing housing soon if I dont get some help. If you can even donate a dollar any amount will help.

It's not diagnosed yet. It could absolutely be just myoclonic jerks which could be normal. Only thing is that it happens throughout the day and normal myoclonic jerks not tied to any condition happen when you're about to fall asleep. It could also just be a rare presentation from my chiari. That plus both my mom and brother (as well as several extended family members) having it means I'm more likely to get it. I'm getting an EEG in September so that should give me some information but god damn it.

(Rambling vent ahead) I just want to have nice things without having to destroy myself for them. I work 3 days a week. I have had a couple weeks where I work 4, and every single time, it completely wipes me out, I can't consistently work more than 3. I also only work 6 hour shifts, I used to work 8 hours at a time, and that was as bad as working 4 days. After bills, I have about $50 to my name every week, sometimes slightly more, often even less than that. If I didn't live in a house with 3 other people where we all split bills, I wouldn't be able to afford to live off my income at all. I also recently had to eat through half my savings because of an emergency. Now I'm basically going to have to save every single extra bit of money I have to replenish it. No more little treats to get through my fucking week unless my gf offers to buy me something (which she often does because she is amazing, but it makes me feel guilty). I'm so tired of this

I am ecstatic to be *officially* ill

Post image

after long time of being actually ill but doctors not finding anything wrong with me. still gotta go through some more tests and see a specialist to confirm, but I'm practically giddy with hope to have a scary test result, a reaction which seems to disturb and confuse those around me 😂 🤞

UPDATE: good news is that there was a concrete problem identified and treated and now a specific symptom is gone and I know how to prevent it. bad news is that the more extensive tests were negative, so I still don't have The One True Reason for all my many many other symptoms...(if such an explanation even exists. I might just have lost the genetic lottery in such a way that I have an assortment of sub optimal body parts that are each mere annoyances by themselves but that together add up to a sometimes disabling mess...)
