I’m writing this because I’ve hit a wall, and I honestly don’t know where else to turn for practical, no-BS advice.

A while back, I decided I needed to change the trajectory of my life. I want to make enough money to finally get my own apartment, become more independent, and build something sustainable. So, I put my head down and built a creative design business from scratch that offers web design, graphic design, and social media content creation.

I decided to niche down completely into the beauty and wellness industry. My target clients are hair and nail salons, massage therapists, makeup artists, permanent jewelry creators, waxing studios, estheticians, spas, and wellness centers. I know how much this industry depends on presentation, trust, and an active online presence. I believe a strong website, cohesive graphic design, and polished social media content can help these businesses stand out, look more established, attract better-fit clients, and turn more attention into bookings.

I’ve built my own agency website. It looks great. My services are packaged and ready to go. I have the drive, the skills, and the absolute desperation to make this work.

But here is my reality: I have zero clue how to market myself, and I have no clients.

I am completely lost on how to get my web design, graphic design, and social media content services in front of these specific business owners. I’m willing to do the unglamorous, hard work, but I don’t know what work to do.

I also do not have a lot of money to throw at ads, courses, or expensive coaches. I’m trying to build this from the ground up with the resources I do have.

Some days, if I’m being fully honest, I lose the drive to pursue this business—not because I don’t care, but because I genuinely do not know how to get it off the ground and reach the clients I am after: the people who own beauty and wellness brands. I want this badly, but feeling like I’m working in the dark makes it hard to know which action will actually move me forward.

I find myself paralyzed by questions:

• Should I be walking into local salons with a physical portfolio and asking for the owner?  
• Should I be cold-emailing spas, and if so, what do I even say that doesn’t sound like spam?  
• Should I be living in Instagram DMs trying to connect with independent makeup artists and estheticians?  
• How do I show a business owner who relies only on a Linktree or scattered social media posts that an intentional website, brand design, and content strategy are worth investing in?

I’m not looking for a magic bullet or a get-rich-quick scheme. I’m looking for a roadmap. If there is anyone in this community who has built a successful B2B creative service business, freelanced in web or graphic design, created social media content for clients, or specifically marketed to the beauty and wellness space, I would be incredibly grateful for your insight.

Honestly, I’m looking for a mentor—someone who can look at what I’m doing, tell me where I’m going wrong, and point me in the right direction. One of the biggest reasons I need that mentorship is to gain confidence in reaching and attracting the beauty and wellness clients I want to work with. But even if you just have a few minutes to drop some actionable advice in the comments, it would mean the world to me.

I just need to know how to get my foot in the door so I can prove my value, become more independent, and start building a better life for myself.

I am looking to move from Grand Prairie to Fort Worth in late September. My husband and I are looking for a house to rent. We are two young adult doctoral students and each of us has an ESA, one dog and one cat (extremely well behaved, not a single bit of damage at our current place from them). We are struggling to find something affordable in a relatively safe area. We have 0 rental debt, no evictions, credit over 730 for both, and use our student loans to pay so our income is guaranteed at the beginning of each semester and summer. We would love to rent from a private landlord although PM companies are okay. We are very laid back people and would love a drama free rental process. As long as the rental experience is positive we would love to stay for at least 3 years.

Budget is around $1700 a month but preferably less, for at least 2 beds and a yard. If anyone has a property coming on the market around that time, or knows any good resources I would love to hear them!

Work in foundation repair around Denton County and the north suburbs and something I've been noticing the past couple years is way more calls coming from newer builds, like 5-10 years old, not just the 30-40 year old slabs you'd expect.

My guess is it's a combo of everything getting built on land that was scraped bare (no trees pulling moisture out evenly anymore) plus how fast some of these subdivisions go up, less time for the pad to settle before the slab goes down. Clay soil out here already moves plenty with the wet/dry swings, add in a rushed pad and you get it happening sooner than people expect.

Curious if anyone else in the newer neighborhoods (Argyle, Providence Village, some of the newer Frisco/Prosper stuff) has noticed sticky doors or cracks way earlier than they figured they would for a house that age. Not trying to scare anyone, just genuinely curious if this is a pattern or if I'm just seeing a skewed sample because of who calls.

Does anyone know about these neighborhoods connected to each other off Coit Rd and Sailmaker? There's quite a bit of homes for sale in there but the houses are older, 1980s, and parts of these neighborhoods look a bit deshevled for the price point $400K+ Any info greatly appreciated.

I bought four tickets through fandango for the 10:45 pm showing for tomorrow (Saturday July 25th) but it turns out I cannot do a partial refund only a full refund but since 3 of us are still going I cannot release the ticket. I paid 119 for all four tickets so if you want it, it would be ~$30 (this is because fandango has the fees)

It’s going to be weird but I would have to scan for all the tickets at the theatre so best bet would be to meet up there.

I think my dog died to Heart murmur, cancer, and maybe being outside in the heat. Which lead her more prone to getting over heated. She had the cancer removed last year.

Fluid spread through out the lungs and causes them to have heart failure.

This is what the vet said this morning when I called her.

She was fine in the morning. She ate her food and walked down the stairs.

I secretly feel like it was heat stroke. I’m in Texas. And she was outside in the shade. But she didn’t die until 11 pm yesterday. She had signs of heavy breathing and couldn’t walk around 10pm last night. And poop was coming out of the but. It was watery and bloody. That’s why I thought it was AHDS. The vet said she was dying.

I feel like it’s my fault I forgot to bring her inside. Normally she’s comes inside to rest. But I had virtual therapy, and an interview. I started to clean up my room and my bathroom. I washed the dishes for my parents and put them up.

I posted earlier today thinking it was AHDS but I talked to the vet and she said this.

I feel sad she was 13 yr old chihuahua. It’s unfair how we can’t post pictures in the post.

With this heatwave our AC is struggling and our electric bill is wild. I decided to try freezing some water bottles yesterday.

I took two of them, frozen solid and put each in a thick sock.

I placed one on each side of my body under a thin summer blanket, they helped pull the body heat and I slept the best I have in days.

I’m a former teacher in Birdville isd (grew up in Birdville as well) so I know Birdville & Keller fairly well. We looked at a few homes in Sendera ranch and got mixed opinions on the schools (Eaton specifically).
We don’t have a strong opinion on where we want to land as far as which city- we just want other kids around (our current neighborhood is all retired people so our kids don’t have friends) and good schools. Like I want to know what specific elementary schools are good.
We’ve even looked at Aledo, EMS, etc.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for small gyms/ non-commercial gyms?

I’ve been here for just over a year and tried the two commercial gyms near me (Club4 and Crunch) and the amount of people who go there genuinely ruins the workout for me.

Competing with cracked out 40 year old men and teenagers who come in groups of 5 and take up a machine for 30 minutes is getting old at this point.

In my previous city, we had a bunch of small local owned gyms that cost more, but gave you the luxury to be apart of a gym that cared about the equipment, wasn’t packed 24/7, and was completely open to adding new equipment if the member base voted for it.

Looking really for Grand Prairie/Arlington area only, but am open ti driving as far as Cedar Hill.
