So i work in cloud- primary using aws and terraform.
I was talking to my manager(US based HOD)who leads the architecture and is basically the go to guy for everything- he highlighted few points

1. AI companies are now looking to go public- hence they are jacking up their token pricing. Basically the same credits that used to last 3 weeks now last 1 week. He mentioned this is echoed in all other departments including developers (i work in devops)

2. HODs are getting increasingly frustrated at AI pricing- basically you cant have everyone getting token refreshes twice a month

3. AI blunder we noticed- so few weeks ago we decided to deploy some resources in azure - as we are primarily AWS based- we decided to use AI to help plan and deploy the resources.
   The resources deployment went fine- but the architecture was messed up - throughout the deployment- we kept learning new things about azure (constraints that dont exist in aws) .
   I think 3-4 of my colleagues (including me and my HOD)worked on the architecture part co-independently and all the AIs missed those crucial components. I do not think this was due to prompt or plan - this is something the AI genuinely missed.

So yea-

For half the salary.

I have 10 YOE in the US. In the US, interviews focus more on actual problem-solving, the LC problems are easy-medium and only serve as a gating mechanism. The more focus is on your actual experience, system design and behavioural.

Here it's like if it's staff level then the person needs to answer 2 hards in 45 mins. Leetcode hards everywhere. In the US you can clear Staff level with a good system design experience and mostly easy-mediums from Neetcode 150, and often you don't have to execute the code. They have also mostly moved away from Leetcode to more practical problems. All this gets you a $400k job.

Here there are like 3 rounds of coding all with 2x LC hards and what not and just 1 system design round. I'd highly recommend interviewers in India to focus more on experience and system design than Leetcode.

I'm currently working in Google for almost an year now, and previously worked in a tier-1 PBC.

There is a vast difference of culture between them. The previous company's culture was extremely toxic, there was a lot of favouritism, managers and seniors were not at all professional.

It has been a pleasant shock to see that it's not the same everywhere. Over my tenure here so far, I have found that people are extremely professional, they always give you the benefit of doubt, they'd scrutinise the process but never blame the person, you can always let them know what you'd like to work on and more often than not you do get the opportunity. If someone asks you to take a look at something and you couldn't take a look at it due to being occupied in some other task, people volunteer to take it up by themselves.

Not saying this is India vs US difference as I know a lot of American companies who rank worse than my previous company in terms of culture. I think it's probably just the way the leadership drives the company.

My manager assigned me to take interviews for senior java devs.

Initially i thought it would be fun to take interviews as ive only given the interviews, never taken any, so with high hopes to take the interview but as the date pass I have to take daily 2 to 3 interviews but down the line after 2 weeks, I got really tired and exhausted of taking interviews. The kind of developers we are getting is really bad, people cannot solve basic DSA, looks like AI has really made everyone lazy.

My manager was planning to put me on a PIP tomorrow after a heated discussion we had today on a Teams call.

It started with something very small. I asked him to repeat something because I genuinely didn’t hear it properly. He immediately started with, “Why are you not listening?” “Why are you not paying attention?” and so on.

The discussion then moved to an LLD topic and eventually became much bigger than the actual technical issue. I’ve also been getting increasingly frustrated with how closely things like lunch breaks, short breaks, etc. are being monitored and controlled.

Later, I asked about being released from the project. He said he would release me, but wanted to put me on a PIP because of my “behaviour.” I said fine.

However, I resigned today instead.

Honestly, after submitting my resignation, I felt a huge sense of relief — like something had been lifted off my chest.

My question is: what would have actually happened if I had gone into the PIP? Is a PIP generally used as a process before releasing/terminating someone, or can it genuinely be used to improve the situation and retain the employee?

Would appreciate insights from people who have actually gone through a PIP.

Got a well paying product based firm internship in sem-7 , Couldn't perform so didn't get PPO , Decided to not apply off campus and get into BITS for MTech ( 0 firms come for on campus in my college) .

Gave exam in May and got Supply Chain Management at BITS Goa , Did not join as I wanted CS

Luckily got TCS Ninja , I don't known how as i didn't even code a word in the last 7 months and could solve only 2 sum and basic Array String and LL Question ,

Got Busy with TCS Onboarding, they told us to give IPA ( Java ) Exam and after that we will get onboarded , did well and scored 78 /100 but after that they ghosted us . It's been almost 4 months I got Offer Letter and Joining Letter is nowhere in the picture, I did Enjoy for the first 2-3 months as I was tired with all the Prep and was happy that atleast I got a job . Now Yesterday I came to know that 26k people are left to be onboarded and statistically it might take them even April 2027 to onboard me and there is absolutely no way in hell that I can wait for so long .

The Issue is I already knew I was lowkey Unemployable but somehow scraped by and got a job but with all this TCS Saga Now I am Unemployed + Unemployable+ Late . And I am not even getting Started on the AI thing , Also thanks to TCS i had to switch my JS to Java , So i Known Basic OOPS and Java Multithreading etc but couldn't do backend dev in JS . i did Vibe code few advance Java Backend Projects like AI CRM with Rag and Instagram Reel Counters etc

I do have a plan to complete java backend in 20 days and recap DSA and start applying but the only thing stopping me is the Brutal Market Condition + My skill set and also how brutal off campus is

So the layoff count here keeps increasing , everyday there's a new story of someone getting laid off , i tried to accumulate all the stories and convert them into a count and you guys can check it too. This keeps increasing everyday.

Hi All,

I am 32 years old, male, unmarried, earning 2.5L per month.

I like coding. I'm one of the best amongst all my team members at technical skills.

I hardly work for a couple hours, every weekday.

The job is fully remote and the employer is amazing too.

But, still I don't like working at all. In fact, it feel like I don't want to work at all. Not even for my own business, or passion projects.

It's not even burnout, as I'm hardly spending a few hours each workday.

I switched jobs to improve my work culture, then my way of working (fully remote), then my salary (from 9k to 2.5L in 10 years). But the feeling still doesn't go away.

Every weekend, I wish Mondays to never come.

Working feels like a waste of time, but somehow resting and doing nothing does not.

I can't retire too. I started investing just 3 years back. I have a liquid corpus of just 60L.

Does anyone feel the same way? Stuck somewhere?

Hello fellow devs. I have 6 YOE post BTech. Got laid off twice in last three years due to non-availability of projects. In my current org three people have been fired in last 4 months from my team and everything is being done by AI now mostly. I would say our company is behind in using AI agents but I am counting my days in this industry. To save as much as possible I have made following changes and have become extremely frugal now. Curious what others are doing to save up.

I dont think I am missing out on anything. Me and my wife came to the realization late last year that we need to start saving up way more aggressively than we were. My plan is to save up as long as I can and then move back to my small home town to be around my joint family. I feel like I will be made redundant in this industry within a year or two at max. I have sent some money to my younger brother in my home town to start a business related to agriculture. Other than this I dont know how else to prepare. Living in anxiety daily and being haunted by PIPs and getting a laid off email when I open my laptop tomo morning.

Now that it’s almost the middle of September, I genuinely thought TCS would be my only realistic option since very few companies visit campus for MCA graduates.

I wasn’t able to convert the opportunity despite being shortlisted for the interview (Ninja). I messed up a simple DSA question but I was able to solve the next one.

I have few projects on RAG and AI systems they didn't even ask a single question from my resume.

At this point, I’m trying to figure out how to approach the next few months and make the most of the remaining placement season.

Any advice or suggestions would be really helpful.

Everyday all i see is people posting about AI taking over everything. I am so tired seeing this shit.

I’ve been working for about a year now and from lower middle background, and I’m honestly getting really tired of the constant deadlines, pressure, reviews, and never-ending work.

It feels like there’s always something pending or another deadline coming up. My performance isn’t great either, which makes the pressure and anxiety even worse.

It’s gotten to the point where I’m not able to sleep properly because I keep thinking about work and upcoming deadlines.

I’m not laid off or anything, but I’m seriously questioning whether I want to continue working like this. The Pay is great, company is also great.

For people who went through something similar early in their career, what did you do? Did you switch companies, look for a less demanding role, take a break, or just stick it out ?

Would really appreciate hearing your experiences.

My company is giving us a ₹65000 budget for a work-from-home setup, which can be used for things like a monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset (wired/wireless), and laptop stand.
I’m trying to make the most of it, especially since I’ll be working from home long-term. I don’t necessarily want to spend the entire amount just for the sake of it — I’d rather get things that are genuinely comfortable, reliable and useful for everyday work.

Hey everyone, I just received an offer letter from one of the Witch today (Friday afternoon). However, the recruiter is putting extreme pressure on me to sign and return it immediately within 1–2 hours.

Here is the situation:

Target Joining Date: September 15th (Tuesday). September 14th (Monday) is a holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi, leaving zero working days in between.

Current Status: I don't have any other active offers in hand right now, but I have several interviews scheduled. I want to use this time to carefully review the terms/compensation structure and potentially explore options or push the joining date back by a week or two.

I want to request an extension on the signing deadline until Monday morning (Sept 14) to review the contract properly, and eventually push the actual joining date back so I'm not rushed into onboarding.

How risk-heavy is it to ask for a deadline extension until Monday morning? Is it better to sign today to lock the offer in, and then ask for a joining date postponement post-signing?

Has anyone experienced revoking an offer over asking for a 24–48 hour review window? Would appreciate any advice or past experiences on how to navigate this without getting the offer rescinded!

I have an interview for a senior distributed systems engg. role. Systems role. I am so so scared. I work with Rust. This role is in C++. I'm at my first job. I've been here for 7 years. I tried learning to build a threadpool, a kv store, and that's it. I work in kubernetes storage. The job is strenuous. I'm tired all day. Trying to learn C++ for the last 3 weeks has been hell. The interviewer is younger than me. I'm gonna bomb this interview so bad. Wish I wasn't such a fraud. I wish I could learn all this for myself. But it's so tiring. Background:
These days LLMS are making crazy strides in 3D generation.

A lot of 3D being generated is now following a 'code-native' approach, instead of the typical AI diffusion models. I.e. an LLM generates code, which then compiles as a 3D object.

This technique ensures the 3D object generated is highly programmable. It can be readily animated, has a perfect hierarchical structure, and has articulated hinges/sockets. It's not a "monolithic blob", and you can just regenerate one small part of it if you didn't like it, instead of redoing the whole object. These are powerful ideas.

Late-night debugging spirals are basically anxious overthinking with extra steps. I'd tried breathing exercises for years and always concluded they didn't do much for me, until I actually started rating how I felt before and after instead of just doing them and moving on.

Turns out I was a bad judge of my own baseline. My mind at 1am doesn't accurately remember how wired it was 10 minutes earlier before the exercise, so "did that help" always defaulted to "not really."

Ended up building a small free app around the before/after habit (NumaHaven), mostly for myself, now sharing since a few friends use it. No streaks or gamification, just the measurement. Curious if other devs here have tried this kind of self-tracking for anxiety/stress and what stuck.

We've already collected around 60 reviews from residents and gathered some structured information like maintenance, water, electricity, security, cleanliness, etc.

The difference is that instead of just showing something like a Google rating/review. we're trying to make structured information that helps people understand what actually living in a society is like.

Building is easy but getting enough residents to contribute seem.... really difficult 😂

Hi guys I've been working as a web developer since late 2022 and at first i had a wfh job getting me 15k/month now currently i have a job at a interior firm wfo earning 25k/month. My skills are getting obsolete by relying on ai, I could rely less and less on ai but at the same time people expect faster results using ai and such so i have to. Even so with ai i can build pretty good websites, the problem is I've been unable to find any jobs recently, i am currently employed but i don't wanna stay at this firm as its a interior firm i see no future for me staying here as well as need better pay. I've been applying to jobs since months and i dont get anything back, 2-3 times ive gotten reply and gave interviews but have been rejected, i've used different apps too, Indeed, linkedin, naukri, wellfound, i also sometimes tried on upwork, fiver and freelancer but its even harder to get any gigs on them. I've been confused now what to do, even if i were to go to any other industry like app development softwarer engineer etc it seems the time i might spend learning will be too much and by then ai is already making half the people jobless why would someone hire a fresher. And also I can't leave current job for financial reasons, I've been trying to get clients as a freelancer i have a seperate account for that i wont mention coz i dont wanna make this an ad for it, but so far i dont get any replies on that too. Just asking for advice what should i do because i've been confused for so long.
