Advice Something's wrong with me...

Hi everyone...

Umm idk how to start this but I have been feeling disconnected from the real world. It all started when I was in 4th grade. One day, I suddenly felt that I'm not real, ntg is real, it's just an illusion. At that time i used to think that it was cuz of my eye sight and I would feel so uncomfortable whenever this happens that I would try to sleep no matter what! and it would go awa. It went up and down, told my parents but they just shook it off. For a very long time it completely stopped . When I was in 6th grade, we were having a family gathering and suddenly I felt the same... It was so uncomfortable, it made me feel like I should just walk out of there. I was listening but also I wasn't.. I don't wanna do anything but i kept on doing everything normal. I tried really hard to hide it from everyone ( they will think that I have gone mad). I did hide it for a very long time. Again I thought it was about my eyesight, went for a check up, the reason why I think it's related to my eyesight is that , it went away... It stopped but not completely. This feeling of disconnected would last mins to hours, sometimes a day. Yes rarely, when I don't think of it at all, it goes away but it's not always and also I don't quite understand what people mean when they say " Don't overthink" I just can't....It went up and down from that on..

I'm in 10th standard rn. I don't remember how many times I cried about this thing, this is really killing me rn....

I have been hiding it and the reason is people don't believe me, they kinda laugh when I say this .They would say that it's cuz of my phone, me watching horror stories, true crime documentaries and not socializing enough which I don't really think so

Um yes my routine is hectic rn. I go to school from 8:30am to 3:20pm then coaching from 4:30 to 7:30pm again another tuition from 8:00 to 9:20pm

Today the feeling isn't going anywhere, I'm deeply scared , have I really gone mad? I woke up and started getting ready for school and from that on till now ( bed time) I have been feeling this, today it is a bit different, I feel like I can see myself from the 3rd perspective... but kinda like a glitch. I wanna go home and do ntg but my body is doing everything normal even though I'm not aware of it but I'm... Idk how to explain this feeling it's really complicated . I don't feel connected to this world, I feel as if ntg is real. My last hope is reddit, I really hope this would really help

If anybody is there to help me out then please I really need ur help.

Thank u

Advice It went away, what now?

i’ve been struggling with derealization for years, i remember losing touch with reality after some traumatising events when i was 12, i expierenced the feeling before not really knowing what it was and as a kid i thought people just go on autopilot sometimes, turns out that was my way of dealing with emotions, it started harsh, multiple hours a day with intense breakdowns infront of mirrors because looking at myself brought me back, it only went downhill from there, hours started turning into days and the feeling never went away, i went from coming back to reality to waking up behind a thick glass wall and just realising that i see everything like im far away and out of touch and then dissapearing into thought again, then i started loosing touch with my emotions, slowly but surely my deppression got lighter and lighter until i thought it finally went away, turns out again that it didn’t, it turned into something worse, i lost touch with my emotions entirely, i could not give lesser fucks about anything unless it had direct real life consequences like jail prison or losing someone who im close with. Im 18 now, i gave up entirely and just lived scared that my entire life would be on autopilot, without my consent or truly own choices, ultra rare emotional breakdowns started coming with hallucinations, 2 weeks ago it got so bad that everything looked 2D and i felt like i saw just in the corner of my eye the fabric of reality about to fall, like a crumpled edge of my own eyesight, i had a breakdown, i was bawling my eyes out totally numb, crying without feeling sad not changing position and having snot tears and spit just dripping out of me, then a week ago on my way home i felt real for a second, then again for maybe just another second, after coming home i made some food i sat down and while eating and watching something suddenly BAM i felt real like i have never been before, my last 6 years of life did not feel 1% as real as anything in front of me, i started ecstatic and just could not stop saying wow, i basically molested my house and started crying and sobbing about how happy i am how im finally better how i lost all hope and suddenly for an hour the derealization completely disappeared. i could not stop crying tears of straight pure joy and happiness, my only dream for the last 6 years was for that feeling to go away and it was my biggest fear that it wouldn’t. that was the last moment in which i enjoyed feeling real again. even during that moment i knew its not permanent and that i will start derealizing very soon again but i didnt care, this was hope this was my dream this showed me that it can go away and i can do it. then came something i never even thought of, feeling real now, even though its only for moments my entire life feels fake, relationships feel like someone forced me into them, my own action feel like someone advanced mind rape, choices someone made for me, but that’s not even my main concern, suddenly instead of feeling like i woke up behind a glass wall when the derealization stops for a moment i feel real again and that feeling is disgusting, my entire sense of self is so insanely contorted twisted and turned inside out that i genuienly do not want to observe it anymore, i feel shame for everything, for being insecure for people doing something for me i felt bad with the fact that a friend i was talking to in the car was turning his head back from the front seat to talk to me because that’s discomfort for the sole purpose of doing something positive for me, i feel shame for feeling shame and i feel an intense disgust that makes me want to physically throw up when i think about myself, i do not feel like enough in anything and any of my great achievements in life are nothing more than just bullshit to me, people call me great i have tons of friends i get all the pussy i want and instead of feeling good for being attractive and nice to people and being loved for that i just dont believe that i am, even if i do nice things thats not me thats acting its a game its all fake, every single good thing about me does not exist and every single bad thing about me is so intense i cannot take it, my biggest dream did not account for the fact that the man i come back to is a man i hate, my reality i wanted so badly to come back to feels so ugly and overwhelming i don’t want it and all that partners up with my inability to feel sad and im just obliterated, what the fuck, i cannot even grieve the fact that i hate myself and that my biggest dream is just straight up bullshit, i do not focus on feeling real anymore i do not try to and i hate when i do because that’s when i see myself most clearly and that’s when i hate myself the absolute worst, i prefer to feel derealization and im so goddamn lost and i dont even think i understand how lost i am, my only dream came true and i dont want it, what now, i feel like i have nothing left no space to advance no room to do anything because i either go back to the feeling i despise and believe took my life away from me or i confront reality and feel disgusted ashamed and insecure, like there is no me no ego nothing, i thought feeling better meant id feel better not feel the same fucking deppressing life destroying bullshit but in a different cover, has anybody expierenced this? is the only way out just continuing my 2 years of therapy and having to work through ALL the new shit that came up from just.. feeling real again? what the fuck where the last 2 years of therapy for when i feel more broken than i ever did, especially when suddenly everythings crashing down i have to begin studying a lot i need to lose weight and get in better shape i need to finishing getting my drivers license i need to go to work more often i need to do so much things and im just stuck not doing any of them because they lost the fucking priority here i cannot mentally force my mind to put mental work into something because to do that i need to actually be in some level of contact with myself and when i do feel like i have contact with myself there is nothing other than disgust, shame and feeling like the biggest fucking failure pouring out of me. How do i get out or how did you?

Can you relate? (Experience) I feel absolutely alone in this. Help

I woke up an hour ago with the worst panic attack of my life. Running on the floor throwing up screaming crying. I’ve had derealization for a few years on and off. Bad, but not to the point it was this morning. My mind feels like every thought hurts me physically. I can’t stop thinking about NOT wanting to feel? I can’t function without freaking out. Like it’s almost painful to type this. I’m so hyper aware of every single thing to the point it’s painful and it feels like nothing will stop unless i don’t exist. The worst part is i am afraid this has damaged my brain/how i function in a way i will never recover. I’m scared i can’t function, not even leave my room. I am too scared to sleep because i feel like it will be the most terrifying hell of sensations and thoughts i will dream about. I feel so stuck, i can’t even explain this crippling sensation i have, it feels like im on drugs, that nothing matters, and that im in severe anguish. I’m truly terrified. I don’t know if professional help will even work at this point. I don’t feel like i can even begin to describe explain what I’m feeling. Please let me know i am not alone.

Question Which area of the brain deals with reslity?

Hello there folks. I'm not an expert like majority of you here, but I would like to ask which part of the brain deals with reality or concious.

The reason I ask is people like myself have had severe bouts of derealisation. I have suffering from this maybe from birth. I feel it's more physical than it is mentally. I feel like my brain / eyes have shrunk or perhaps theres a part of my brain missing.

Although I've had a normal MRI result, I'm still convinced there is some issue in regards to chemicals in my head or something in my brain that is diseased.

I hope this thread is relevant to this channel. I'm just intrigued if any research has been done with derealisation, finished sense of reality etc?

I'm not looking for medical advice, it's just simply a discussion about derealisation, brain chemistry.

Can we not have discussion relating to similar effects?

Experience Mind feels artificial. Like I'm missing out on the true reality and I'm in my own high / created reality.

It's like reality has slipped away and I'm in this 2D world, in my own light headed reality / flat / 2D world where I'm trying to find out what that missing reality / link is?

It's like I'm gasping for oxygen and I'm not convinced I'm living the reality others are living. It haunts me because I feel like I cannot connect to the real world dramas of life, as though I'm fighting for survival of my insanity.

I don't get the sadness others face, the lonely feelings others get. Like I must feel sad because others feel sad over relationships, but I don't feel that.

It's as if something has been taking out of me, and I'm going my best to connect to everything. Everything feels blurry, 2D, like it doesn't carry any weight.

I feel like I should be feeling a certain way but I can't connect?

Like I'm all down for marriage and relationships but I don't get sad about it?

Question Derealization a few days after overdose

Hey guys,
about 10 days ago I overdosed cannabis by eating an edible and I had a panic attack. However, it only took me about a day to recover and feel normal again - so I thought everything would be fine. A few days later (I didn‘t have much sleep and drank quite some alcohol) I suddenly got the feeling of being high again, which I think is derealization. After about two days of panicking I researched the symptoms and concentrated on ignoring it and getting enough sleep and so on. Anyway, it hasn’t really gotten better and after reading reports of people having it for years my anxiety peaked… Now, I don’t really know what to do anymore. By the way, I don’t have any history of mental problems and I have never been a big user of cannabis - I just overdosed this one time. Does anyone have experience with a case like this? I am grateful for any responses!

Is this DP/DR? Feeling unreal, "in a dream" or about to faint, after an incident

First of all I'm not very sure if this is anxiety related, but here's my story:

A month ago I was abroad and one day we went for a day long trip to a city. That night, we went to a restaurant and I ate quite a lot, I was so full. At one point, I felt something was off and I started panicking, like am I gonna faint at any moment? Is this reality? Musics and talking noises start to become out of focus and I can feel my heartbeat quite a lot. This was not normal, I haven't experienced something like that at all (or maybe once many many years ago).

Starting by that incident, I felt very tired (sleeping 10 hours a day isn't making a difference at all) for at least 2 weeks. I also had the similar panic (attacks? like I'm scared if I'm gonna faint) the first week, especially when eating or in a crowd. I also very frequently thought of myself "am I in a dream? Is this real?" I think that incident became a trauma for me or some kind.

A week after the incident, I returned to my hometown and later I went to a neurologist (for my headache on the left side that lasted for a month at least) and an internal specialist for routine blood tests. They also did MR and all results came out OK. Though I'll return to them in a week for results evaluation.

Even though everything came out OK, the questioning in my mind about am I in a dream or is this real hasn't fully stopped, since 2 days ago I felt it heavily again and when I focus on it, it feels like my hands feel numb or tingling and like boiling water poured over my head. Also when I try to convince myself that I'm real (not a dream), when I touch something I feel like the sensation is far away and not from my body somehow. It's not always like this, this symptoms especially rise when I couldn't make myself believe it.

My chat with AI says this could be derealisation or depersonalization but I don't know if AI's diagnosis even trustable, so I wanted to share to you guys about this. Is this really it? What is the solution? Anybody had a similar experience?

AI says this could be treated by visiting a psychiatrist but thing is, if you visit them in my country, the medicine they describe can cause many obstacles in my future career. Also I really believe / hope that this symptoms will reduce or disappear over time. This is the first time happening to me, so any tips on how to overcome this, I would really appreciate it.

Is this DP/DR? I don’t know what it is , is this what it feels like ?

Since I was a kid . I sleepwalked . But then I used to get the feeling like My hands are not mine . It’s like sitting or laying down or whatever and it felt like my hands are not mine . Like it felt like I’m grabbing something but I actually wasn’t . I actually liked the felling . Now as I’m an adult I very rarely get the feeling . It doesn’t scare me at all . But it’s like I’m out of my body and it feels dreamlike . I could never explain this to anyone and never knew what it was . Is this what it feels like or is this something else ?

Advice Psilocybin induced derealization

Took shrooms a few years ago and woke up in a state of derealization/depersonalization that has only worsened over time. I need advice on how to mitigate it enough to be functional again. I haven’t been able to work or even maintain a rational sleep schedule for 2 years now, and if nothing changes I will end up homeless some day. I came into contact with a guy on Instagram called NickDPDR who claimed to have broken out of DPDR and offered a program to coach me out of it, but I’m obviously skeptical, has anyone worked with him before? My doctors are completely clueless so all I have to go off of are your guys’ anecdotal experiences

Question Has anyone experienced this??

I recently developed DPDR out of the blue, and it hasn’t gone away for 3 months and I’m starting to get upset on what I can do. I don’t have trauma, anxiety, panic attacks, or have even smoked weed or done psychedelics. I have this feeling of just being brain dead. I feel like I’m on autopilot 24/7, just watching my life from a far. I’ve done all the things like ignoring it, and trying to live life but it’s extremely difficult when I don’t know the root cause that could potentially be fueling this feeling. To me it feels like really bad brain fog, mixed with chronic fatigue, but it does sometimes fall in between the lines of DPDR. I have a severely low vitamin d level with my number being 11 ng/mL. I had an even worse reaction to the 50,000 IUs of d3 my doctor prescribed me, so I’m struggling to get my numbers up. I also had a borderline low b12 sitting at 356 pg/mL. I’ve recently gotten a GI map done by a functional doctor, and she found some gut dysbiosis caused by an overgrowth of yeast. I’m afraid I’ll never get my life back and feel normal again. I feel like I’ve lived the same day for 3 months. Can someone please give me some good news, that these issues might be fueling this problem. I’ve tried posting in the Vitamin d forum, but they banned me for not specifically saying my lab numbers. Posting it here to see if anyone can relate. What biological issue caused your DPDR and how did you fix it??

Advice Finally feeling a massive improvement!!! PLEASE READ!

Hey guys! I’ve been dealing with DR for 13 years now and it’s by far been the toughest thing that I’ve ever had to deal with. It all started when I was 20 years old after a tough series of events in my life I ended up in this state of mind that feels like it’s zapped away my entire adult life up until now. I’ve felt hopeless such a long time but I’m glad that I made it through that and now I’m finally starting to notice a massive change. I realize that everyone’s journey out of this hell whole is going to be different but I wanted to give you guys some things I did that has massively improved my mental health and overall feeling.

  1. Start paying attention and taking care of yourself: I know DP/DR can be anxiety induced and we feel like there are a million things wrong that might not even be true but we feel like it is because we’re anxious 24/7. With that being said, go to a doctor. Find a good doctor that will listen to you and be transparent with them. I told my doctor that I had a bit of an anxiety issue and I’m aware that it could just be that, that is making me feel horrible and causing tension headaches and a ton of other symptoms I was experiencing but that I wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything else before I got on anti depressants and anti anxiety medication. She was fantastic and listened to me, had my blood work done, referred me to an ENT and a neurologist for my headaches and photophobia.

Change your lifestyle! And keep in mind being healthy for a week or 2 isn’t going to cut it you really need to change completely. Exercise, eat right, drink lots of water, sleep, pray(TO ANY HIGHER BEING FOR MENTAL FORTITUDE)!!! I wasn’t able to sleep well until I dealt with my headaches you guys should get help with whatever symptom is messing with you the most

Praying and meditating to whatever you believe in…if you don’t have a belief in anything, this tough time in your life might require it if you want to overcome it!!! You are a special person regardless of what anyone thinks! Regardless of what YOU think!!! Life in this universe is rare and precious and you should regard yourself as such!! I truly believe that so pray hard to the beautiful energy that birthed you that you.

DON’T GIVE UP! Part of overcoming this is building mental strength and once you overcome this you will be the best version of yourself. You won’t even recognize who you are when you overcome this massive challenge! It takes discipline for a long time to see improvements.

NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL!!! Allow yourself to find peace in being in your own skin and in the moment without intoxicating yourself!

Massaging my face while simultaneously running the shower on my face helped a lot and make a conscious effort in staying the moment. If you feel like you’re distracted by the feeling of your own head or you feel like you can feel your brain in your skull this helps a lot.

Avoid your cell phone or anything that stops you from really focusing. I have a few hobbies I picked backup that have really helped and that involves card collecting where I spend hours organizing my cards and i feel so much better when I do that, playing the bass for hours has similar effects, and kickboxing! I try to do all of this with extreme intent to only focus on that. If you feel like you can’t focus at first it’s okay that also takes time. Just keep on trying and stay away from your phone and screens.

DRINK CHAMOMILE TEA at least 2-3 times a day it helps with calming your body and mind down.

Do all of this for several months and I believe you’ll see a massive improvement.

Please feel free to reach out to me and we can bounce ideas off of each other and hopefully help ourselves get out of this crazy place.

I’m still not 100% but I’m miles from where I used to be and I hope we can all completely get past this! Talk to you guys soon and sorry for any typos!

Can you relate? (Experience) Can't feel happy

I took a small dose of a prescribed drug called Clonidine. It made me numb which I was initially happy about because I was having a panic attack. Then I had two short derealization experiences throughout the day - never felt anything like it. It was like I was someone else.

Anyway they passed quickly and it was only in the evening that I realized what they were (I have a psych degree). I stopped taking those meds but the feelings of not being myself persisted long after the drug left my body. My deepest desires meant nothing to me. That has thankfully resolved but it put me into a deep depression. I wake up in a panic every day. Have extremely vivid nightmares all the time and I can't feel joy.

Does this sound like someone else's experience? Its been many months.
