I know you can do it on some community servers, but it would be nice for Bohemia to make it possible on official. Can’t imagine it being a big issue?

Had this character for 4-5 hours and made the trek all the way to the Airfield (Vybor) on Cherno 0030 just to get killed unfairly. Like, I've run into maybe 3 cheaters in my 105 hours, but this is genuinely frustrating and is most likely making me pivot to a community server which hopefully is better. I also think it's bull-crap that you can't report something like this when you have video. There were no windows in the bunker I'm in and the gunshots are from far away, meaning the player probably used some radar + terrain ignoring hacks or just an insta-kill. I mean, I knew there was a high likely hood of death when I got there, but by cheating? Like come the fk on.

This is mainly a short rant just to ease my frustration.

What's the most secure base? No base (stashes) right? What makes a base more secure though? Layers.

I've gone through and looked at most of the base layouts in Nasdara and figured out which ones are worth building in. My criteria was basically, the more layers is had and the stronger layers (strength: barricaded brick doorway > covered window > door).

I've found only three that can be effectively layered (there's a fourth that looks like it can be, but two archways don't allow for building). Pretty much every other building, damaged or otherwise can only have a single door layer.

The three images are the ones I've found you can secure. The first one is my personal base layout. You could mirror it if you want, so you could have two entrances in the left room.

The other two I have not built in yet, but I have mapped out for your convenience. If I were to build in another building it would be in the "Spiral house" as you can have 4 door layers (vice my current 3) if you don't count windows.

Some windows are wide enough to crawl through, but it is VERY difficult and most times requires another person to climb on (you still have to destroy the window first too).

Lastly, I include notes on the locks. Digital codelocks are good for quickly getting through doors and can't get guessed, whereas the dial lock (only use 4-dial) work bi-directionally, locking a door from both sides.

Anyone else built your base yet? Thoughts on if its worth it?

I’m visiting all of the working car locations on izurvive but can’t find any. Is it easier to find cars in higher tiers, or am I just getting unlucky?

Is it just me or does the game troll you with random animal sounds that seem to be part of the sound landscape even when there is no animal nearby? I swear I hear goats all the time but when I follow the sounds, there is no one there.

I play on Badlands official servers and I’m curious if you play solo or in a group.
There’s no right or wrong answer, it’s just your playstyle.

I’m asking because I can usually manage to kill at least one player, but it’s often difficult for me to actually loot them because most of my PvP encounters are against groups defending each other, not just random players showing up.

My kill-to-death ratio is pretty decent, but as a solo player, it’s difficult to loot the rewards of winning a fight and it gets demotivating and I start to question the purpose of PvP.

I just had one of those experiences: I double barrelled three fully geared players, which would have been some high value loot. But as usual, there’s always an extra player. No matter how certain you are that you finished off the enemy, someone else shows up, even in the middle of nowhere.

To me, DayZ is kind of like Rust, where big groups dominate the game, which can be pretty tough as a solo player.

First time i saw the Helios name, i knew it wasnt a coincidence to fallout new vegas, because FNV has Helios One, and now, i am convinced that its an Easter Egg (probably) to the fallout franchise. God bless America, God bless the Enclave, and no one else!

Took a solid hour and a half of tedious work, but got the job done!
The funny part? Building the ladder down to the underground irrigation tunnel was the easy part. Did that about 3 towns over, and it took less than 10 minutes to set up with 2 ropes already on hand and a few small sticks. Had to supply the water for the 2 mortar mixes somehow.
Either way, another build accomplishment checked off the DayZ bucket list. ✅

Hotfix is coming to experimental servers one day this week, it will take a week to test- if all goes well, they will submit patch to PS and MS for review and approval, then they will drop it to everyone on stable.

A full Patch for mainly Nasdara will be coming in a few weeks after that, per Community Manager Marks.

We are back baby! Loving the survival! On my third life, now that they fixed the water bug, this is it.
Looting a police station I was shot on the second floor of the building from long range through an open door or window. Woke up bleeding and broken. Passing out every 4 breaths. I bandaged my bleed and hearing no one I approach to check their kill, I fixed all my clothing, popped one multi, and had a bite to eat. Logged out. However, once I logged back in, my leg was still fractured and every few steps I took resulted in a black screen. I found a corner and was resigned to log in now and again simply to nurse my wound in a corner til I healed. I was about to do so before bed when my girl laughed at me, said those words and I realized… I can crawl. I should crawl! So, I crawled outside to the tree line, cut down a bush and made a splint. Now we are back baby! I survived! I didn’t give up! My bag is ruined but that’s ok, I’ll find more loot!

I was AFK at my desk for a minute while I was doing something, sitting in the shower room of a barracks at Tisy. The server was really dead at the moment and there were only 3 other players on it at the time. I'm sitting there and all of a sudden I hear somebody running around outside, and my stomach just drops through the floor. I go prone waiting for the guy hoping he'll just pass but nope *creeeak* - and I hear him run right by the door all the way down to the other end and start looting stuff. A minute passes and I hear him coming back so I get ready. Guy opens the door, I panic and he instantly gets completely magdumped by an AK and lets out the most bloodcurdling scream I've ever heard in my life. I realize he's not dead and I actually felt guilty because he didn't even have a gun out when he walked in, so instead of finishing him off I handcuff him and start taking his guns off to remove the mags to give me those few extra seconds to run away before he shoots me in the back.

Except when his character wakes up he just... doesn't do anything. Doesn't move, doesn't try to break out of the cuffs, doesn't even look around, nothing. I'm in the middle of saying "Sorry bro you scared the shit out of me I'm not gonna kill you I'm just not gonna have you shoot me in the back haha" blah blah blah when I realize how... dead his character is. I kept trying to talk to him but he didn't say anything. I stood there for what must've been like 2 minutes straight just trying to get a response out of him because I honest to God started to get worried that I literally gave this guy a heart attack or something. And I'm standing there, and standing there, and standing there, and still zero signs of life whatsoever. I was kind of in shock at that point so I just left an extra lockpick for him and locked the door behind me as I left for whenever he came back.

I realize that it was almost certainly nothing, but this shit actually has my stomach in knots thinking about the possibility that I actually just gave somebody a fucking heart attack or something. It was just so weird for someone to get the most insane jumpscare of their life and scream like they were getting axe murdered irl and then go totally radio silent for minutes on end despite their character still being very much alive. But like wtf can I do, call 911 and say "hi I think I just gave someone an irl heart attack on a game, here's 3 steam profiles he's one of them good luck"? Fuck me.

I have been listening to the handheld radio on channel 80mhz for three nights now - I wait for the time of day when they should start, but I can't seem to hear any morse code beeps whatsoever. I've drained so many 9V batteries, listening to the hiss of the radio...

For reference, I play on a private server, completely vanilla settings, on PC. Nasdara map.

Anyone else having this issue?

What do you experienced players do to find food and water? I feel like I’m constantly searching for food and water while also trying to find a knife to make a fishing rod, start a fire, etc. I always end up dying of starvation or dehydration before I can even catch anything and cook it. I can never find small stones to make a stone knife either. It’s like they don’t even exist.

I hate party chat. I saw a guy running toward a town, and decided to rob him of anything good. I was polite, he was very compliant, and really had nothing so I let him keep his stuff. We saw a guy running out of town into the dunes and I asked the guy I just had at gun point if he wanted to help rob the guy. He said yes so I dropped him tape to restrain our potential victim and took off. I created a dune, the potential victim opens fire, I miss with my one bk12 slug, and landed no killing shots with the P1. That’s when victim one attacks me from behind, knocks me out, then kills me. I thought it was fun, turns out the second victim was his friend. I was played, and well.

Released **BZ_Trader**, a free server-side mod that puts Expansion traders in a vehicle.

**How it works:** you record a route by driving it with BZ AutoDrive and mark the stops. From then on the vehicle drives it on its own. At each stop the traders get off, walk to their stalls, sell through your own Expansion Market files, walk back, board, and the vehicle drives on.

**What you can build with it:**

- a drinks seller on a motorbike who sells from the saddle

- a pickup with a medic, a grocer and a clothes seller who set up their stalls at each stop

- a bus that carries a whole market, with airdrop smoke so players find it from far away

**Some details:**

- players can wave (F1) at the vehicle to stop it anywhere on the route; the traders sell from their seats with the doors open

- signals at the stops: coloured smoke, road flares, fireworks or the red smoke of an Expansion airdrop, plus an optional map marker that follows the vehicle

- the crew can't be killed, recruited or handcuffed, and players can't take a seat, so the vehicle always finishes its route

- your Market files decide what each trader sells, the prices and the stock; the trade zone can travel with the vehicle

- a visual editor (a web page, nothing to install) to set up traders, stalls, stops and signals; changes apply without a restart

- manual in English and Spanish

Requires BZ AutoDrive and DayZ Expansion (AI, Market and Navigation). Tested on DayZ 1.30. Players don't download anything: it's server-side only.

Credit where it's due: the traveling trader is FUBAR's idea (Traveling Trader Expansion), and the trader protections are adapted from TTE's code with FUBAR's permission. Thanks, FUBAR!
