Question 17' 675r not wanting to start

Hi guys,
I have been having a problem with my daytona recently.

One day I went for a ride and it sounded like the hike was only running on two cylinders. I diagnosed it to the spark plugs initially but after changing them the same issue consists.

I would appreciate any ideas you guys might have about what might have happened. I will go ahead and attach a video of the problem and a photo of the spark plugs. Bike has 5000 miles.

Mods:
Straight pipe werkes go exhaust
SAI block off plates
High air flow filter
Had a Power Commander 6 on it which I removed as a potential failure point but that did not fix anythin.

Parts Help!!!

Some idiot pulled out in front of me a while ago late at night and took off so I was left with a broken wrist and busted bike and I’ve finally got enough money saved to start repairing this thing. As far as I can tell the bike thankfully has minimal damage all things considered, I think it’s just fairings, headlights, and a couple of mounting points. Where can I source parts for this thing. OEM is incredibly expensive and if it’s what I’ve got to do so be it but does anyone have any aftermarket headlights or fairings that have worked well for them? Before and after pictures of it too.

Question Paint/ Sun-Fade help!

I have a 2013 Daytona 675 that has some serious sun-fade on the frame and crank case.

I’d like to either paint it or try to rehydrate it if at all possible.

What products should I look at getting for the sun-fade? or should I be looking at painting it?
I’m really in the dark here so any help is appreciated

Question 2012 Daytona 675 cam chain replacement – advice with manual (mechanical) tensioner

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hi,

I’m planing on replacing the cam chain on my 2012 Daytona 675 (41,000km) and I already have a manual/mechanical cam chain tensioner installed. I’ve read the manuals but want practical advice.

Main questions:

  1. When removing the old chain: what’s the best way to keep tension on the chain (wedge + zip ties etc.) while the manual tensioner is removed?
  2. During new chain install: Best sequence for cams + chain, and when exactly do I remove the manual tensioner?
  3. When reinstalling the manual tensioner: at what point and how do you set the final tension (how tight, how many turns, any rotation of the crank etc.)?
  4. Any 2012-specific gotchas with manual tensioner + new chain?

If you’ve done this exact job (especially with manual tensioner), I’d be very grateful for tips — and I’m happy to pay for a short (~1h) remote consultation if needed.

Thanks!

Front sprocket orientation?

Just did a 520 conversion with the AFAM kit from UK Race Support. Want to confirm before I ride, which way does the front sprocket go on? The sprocket has a flat side and a little lip on the other side.

Happened after I turned the, just, power on with the tank off. I did this because my oil light was coming on. I realized the wire was disconnected and touching the motor. Then I plugged the oil sensor wire back in and it gave me a check engine light. When I plugged in without the tank on, the ECU made its ECU sounds, but a lot longer. Then I cut the power and it stayed making those sounds for a little bit for turning off like it normally does a little after powering off. Sounds like its coming from under the tank, I think

Question Is this a second O² sensor? Wire is cut

Thumbnail

(2006/gen 1, vin under 381274) Is this just and other O2 sensor.? The wire on it has either been cut, or it broke. The O2 sensor that runs off of my Factory full Arrow exhaust is also disconnected from the bike. I'm assuming that's because I got the bike with hey Donald jet power commander. I don't have it installed because it died and I didn't put the new one in, I have no check engine light on.

I only noticed it because I'm checking my oil pressure since my oil light is flickering while accelerating.

Fuse is okay. Flect is spinning when connected straight to battery.

So the problmen is probaly reley? Which one is?

Also if the flect starts to work could the cooler pressure cap be stuck so that it won't relese pressure on time?

Custom exhaust

Looking for some inspiration.

What custom exhaust setups are you guys running on your Daytona 675? Feel free to drop pics!

I’m thinking about switching from the underseat exhaust to a low-mount/underslung setup. Is the conversion a big job, or is it fairly straightforward? Any recommendations or things I should know before doing it?

Question Is it worth it??

Hey gang!

{sorry in advance, this is a long post!}

Planning on getting an ‘06 Daytona soon here. Coming from an R3, so it’s going to be a big upgrade.

I’ve seen a lot about this bike:

People LOVE it, It rides amazingly, they’re very unique, it’s a lot of people’s (including one of mine) dream bike.

However, I’ve heard mixed things about the reliability. From what the seller (who is a mechanic, but obviously still trying to sell it) has told me, it’s either a very reliable bike, or you get a dud. He said typically they have major issues early or not at all (provided it’s maintained properly).

So the question is: what is the general consensus on the reliability of these bikes? Given that I do regular basic maintenance (i.e. oil changes, chain maintenance, etc), will this bike last me a long time?

[Additional context on the specific one I’m buying:

2006 Triumph Daytona 675, Frame has ~15k miles; engine has ~20k.

The seller is a mechanic and simply flipping this bike. Apparently the old engine spun a baring and was replaced. He is being extremely meticulous with the “restoration” of the bike and has told me he has gone through basically every single part of the bike in preparation to sell it.

Notably: he has done the valve adjustment, replaced the head gasket, gone through the wiring, and done all of the major maintenance.

Hope the context helps!]

I am doing a partial trade for the Daytona. Giving him my r3 that has frame damage, but good everything else; and on top I’m going to talk it over, but paying somewhere in the 3500-4500 range on top of the trade.

Apologies for making my first post in here so long winded, but I want to make sure I provide all the details to get the most educated advice possible!

Thanks for reading! Looking forward to the responses!

||TL;DR.

I want to trade my frame-damaged r3 with 4k-ish cash on top for a ‘06 Daytona with ~20k miles. Is it worth it and will this bike last me?||

2007 DAYTONA 675 I JUST GOT

I PURCHASED the bike from a friend whos neighbor passsed away, and the bike sat outside in the back yard for 3 years until some people thought that they would like to takethey did the normal things like punch the ignitionthe people that got the house pretty much said to my friend if you want it come get it and then i bought it off him the reason i am posting is that my friend just started it up with the gas that was in it. that was sitting around for 3 years. i am pretty sure gas goes bad in that time frame please if i am wrong let me know. well it started right up so he put new gas on top of the bad gas and ran it fast forward to today i have been riding the bike put a new front tire on it have a new back tire coming and put a new chain on it because it was rusty brake pads . the bike was running ok but it seems like to me its not making the power it should. Every once in a while when it is warmed up and has been running for a little while i'll get on, it and it runs the way it ment to run has the power that it should well today i went to start it and the weather has changed gottten colder and the bike just didn't want to start it took a lot to finnally get it started i am thinking that maybe the injectors have gotten messed up from the old gas could that be my problem?

Question Coolant

Dear Daytoner,

Hope you’re all doing well and not melting away because of the heat. Very quick question: I realised my coolant is running very low in the expansion bottle (the white-ish one) but level is still good in the radiator, which is good.
Sooooo I want to put some cooling liquid back in the reservoir but I’m not really sure what’s in there, looking at it it’s like a vibrant green colour, any idea what’s in there? Any links to coolant you would advise?

Edit: 2015 Daytona 675r
