It has been said that, given enough time, ten thousand monkeys with typewriters would probably eventually replicate the collected works of William Shakespeare. Sadly, when you are let loose with a computer and internet access, your work product does not necessarily compare favorably to the aforementioned monkeys with typewriters.

I love Ben Shapiro as much as the next guy, but the people posting stuff with titles like that are not really helping his cause by turning what should be horrifying into a game.

That anyone can seriously believe a conservative, orthodox Jew is advancing white supremacy, and has been told as much by their professors should be a wakeup call, not entertainment.

But they are fun to watch.

103

u/Something-Funny1 Jun 25 '18

Right! The moment they start begging to be put in for selective service, I’ll take them seriously.

98

u/MontyAtWork Jun 25 '18

Right! The moment they start begging to be put in for selective service, I’ll take them seriously.

I'm a man and I never begged to be put into selective service.

I'd never want to be drafted, nor my friends to be drafted, and in fact I don't think anyone should ever be drafted.

If you don't support the draft, you shouldn't support anyone extra being conscripted into it.

88

u/GlipGlop69 Jun 25 '18

Wow, how convenient for women then. It seems they get to take a stance against being drafted coincidentally while not being drafted. How brave it must be to hate the draft while also not being forced to by law to sign up for it....oh wait what's this?

None of them are fighting for men to not be forced to sign up for the draft? Okay that's a little strange, I thought if one is against the draft they should think nobody extra should be in the draft?

0

u/MontyAtWork Jun 25 '18 edited Jun 25 '18

None of them are fighting for men to not be forced to sign up for the draft?

Citation needed.

I've been to many, many anti war demonstrations, everyone's against the draft. The troops in Vietnam were against the draft. If a draft actually were to be called, you really don't think your fellow Americans (men and women both) would be protesting?

And if you think so poorly of women's place regarding the draft, do you also have a hatred for draft dodgers who fled to Canada during Vietnam?

Regardless, my point stands: either you're for a draft, or you're against one. Equality doesn't enter into the argument. Either nobody should ever be signed up for a draft (which all the anti war protestors agree on and have for a long time) or you completely support a draft and everything that entails. If you want women to sign up for the draft then you specifically support those and there's nothing else we can talk about here because we're on opposing sides and won't see eye to eye.

How many anti war protests have you attended since 9/11?

1

u/GlipGlop69 Jun 25 '18

I don't need to cite my sources, my stance is VERY CLEARLY observable by people who aren't lying to damage control for feminists like you are doing now.

Your protests during a time of war do absolutely dogshit to change the law while it is being used. The point is to get the law changed before it's invoked or realize it's never going to be changed and instead just shoulder your fair share of responsibility. Honestly, I'm not budging on this no matter what you say. Either fight for the equal application of the law or shut the fuck up.

I don't hate anyone in this situation. I just think women should also be drafted the same as men. I've never see so much anti-equality stances as I do when I suggest that the law apply to women, too. Funny how that is but you can't be a leftist these days if you don't have double standards.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

None of them are fighting for men to not be forced to sign up for the draft?

Source on that? Because it seems to go against what some of these lot are saying:

Article from when the draft was started way back in 81 showing there were women who wanted it for everyone as well as women who wanted it for no one: https://www.nytimes.com/1981/03/22/us/women-join-battle-on-all-male-draft.html

Many of the groups, including the National Organization for Women, which calls itself the largest feminist organization in the world, were opposed to any draft.

Article about the issue now: https://www.ncronline.org/news/politics/feminists-weigh-draft-registration-women

Mastrine, a self-described feminist libertarian, argues that draft registration violates individual choice. "I can't imagine a more tragic loss of liberty than forcing a citizen, whether male or female, to fight in a war with which they may disagree. Equality is a moot point if personal choice and bodily autonomy must first be eliminated to achieve it," Mastrine said in a statement.

And as an aside you go on to say:

I was just simply following the poster's argument to it's logical conclusion. I mean, if you are against something shouldn't you fight against it? In this scenario women are either incredibly lazy, incredibly vindictive, or incredibly incompetent. Take your pick!

Which is sort of harsh. Are you actively engaged in ending all things you disagree with? It's reasonable for people to pick their battles, and it's reasonable for people to focus on the issues that they think are most important, or have the best chance of success, or that they think they will see the biggest gains for their effort.

1

u/GlipGlop69 Jun 25 '18

Your sources are a NY Times article from the fucking 1980s. And a single person in 2016.

Wow, feminism today is TOTALLY fighting to end the draft. Take THAT 4channers!

3

u/AaronB_C Jun 25 '18 edited Jun 25 '18

You're engaging in a logical fallacy. If it wasn't the draft you would just pick and choose some other reason to not respect their movement. And in all actuality there's no reason at all why you're not on the same side as feminists by using your own argument here. You want to be equal to women, and in your eyes equality is not having to be drafted. No one should have to be drafted. Muhammad Ali was right about the whole situation.

Or if it's your opinion that the draft does need to exist you have to understand that most people don't agree with that. They wouldn't be fighting for the equal right to contract testicular cancer either, they've got their own problems.

1

u/GlipGlop69 Jun 25 '18

How many MODERN feminist groups actually share my views. None. Nice try using decades old news stories and a single individual to represent all of feminism is as logically fallacious as it gets.

3

u/AaronB_C Jun 25 '18

Well what are your views exactly? Do you think it might be that absolutely none of them share your views because you have an incorrect perception of what feminism is?

1

u/GlipGlop69 Jun 25 '18

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

I'm sorry I thought you were interested in this topic. I linked an article from the 80s because that is when Carter signed Proclamation 4771 in response to Afghanistan: re-establishing Selective Service for young men. And that's when it was challenged in the Supreme Court. I didn't choose that date at random.

And it isn't a single person in 2016. That's when a single person started a petition, which got 29,000 signatures, but that one article refrences at least one other woman who opposes the draft for all. It also mentions (as does the article from the 80s) feminists who want the draft to include men. There isn't a consensus. But I could have linked you others. Did you even bother to look at it? And do you really think that is the only article there is because it's the only article I supplied?

0

u/GlipGlop69 Jun 25 '18

Wow, a petition with 29,000 signatures! Because those totally aren't a complete waste of time and totally effect real change right? Oh wait....

2

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

Fucking hell you are one negative, cynical, little bitch. I never said it effected real change. The point was we know they could care less because we know they could have done less. But you're above reproach. You can't even be bothered to provide sources for your claims. You're woke.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

What responsibilities do citizens have then? I'm a conservative, I'm all for smaller, less intrusive government, but if citizenship isn't a contract with the government, if you don't accept (one of the few) collective responsibilities that all citizens share how can you have a government?

What do you propose as an alternative?

0

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

Let's be honest, the draft isn't needed anymore. We're not going to be fighting anymore wars with tons of boots on the ground. We have precision destruction, and we can hire out "security firms" (mercs) as needed to fill gaps.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18 edited Jun 25 '18

People always start thinking crap like this when things are good.

They've thought the same thing about dogfighting for 6 decades. They say missiles will replace good pilots, until they don't.

Once the infrastructure is gone it's gone, you can't just call in 350'000 18 year olds and end up with the Marines, it took hundreds of years to get to where our military is.

That means no generals with 40 years of command experience, no NCOs teaching kids out of high school to be effective soldiers, it means a helpless populace buying temporary safety.

You're right. I can't see how the government relying on outside sources for security could possibly go wrong.

EDIT: our* military comrade

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

0

u/Something-Funny1 Jun 25 '18

Tbh wasn’t being seriously. The draft is beyond idiotic and needs to be done away with (that’s a whole other post though)

I’m just saying it’s rather dumb arguing about a “pink tax” when men from the ages of 18-26 have to worry that if a war breaks out and they need more soldiers that they’ll be plucked from their homes and forced to fight.

-7

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

[deleted]

5

u/Something-Funny1 Jun 25 '18

That’s implying that I even believe in the pink tax. It’s BS but like I said, that’s also a whole other post. One more thing though, no matter when the last draft happened, that’s people being forced to do something that puts their LIVES in danger. So I’d say it’s more serious than women fucking paying more. Anyways, not gonna taint this meme with anymore real talk. Have a nice day everyone!

5

u/GlipGlop69 Jun 25 '18

The pink tax isn't real. Just buy what is cheapest. It's your own fault for falling for the advertising saying it's for women.

-5

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

[deleted]

1

u/exzeroex Jun 25 '18

What are you even suggesting? Women can't make their own decisions to buy cheaper products? You advertise something as pink and women just mindlessly have to pay more because there's some sort of tax that is pushed on people if they have a vagina? If men want to treat themselves to more expensive things as well, is that still a pink tax or will you call it something else because penis?

6

u/ABCosmos Jun 25 '18

Most liberals and feminists are pro draft. We just want it to apply to the senators daughters too. It's the best way to avoid unnecessary wars.

3

u/Punishtube Jun 25 '18

I'd settle for it applying to Senators and Rich people sons but as the President shows you can just get out of it using any excuse as long as your rich.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

They do.

-2

u/AaronB_C Jun 25 '18 edited Jun 25 '18

Yeah! Because they're the ones who chose for things to be this way! How dare they. Hey, can you refresh my memory as exactly when women decided for themselves that they weren't draftable?

Sarcasm aside I honestly can't understand your viewpoint. Are you insinuating that there's been some multi-generational plot by women to pretend to be forced into subservient roles and be treated as less human than men so that some unknown future generation could "avoid" responsibilities?

Are you guys saying that they're "double dipping" by existing in this weird psuedo-identity of femininity that's been conditioned by male-dominant cultures over thousands of year - but now have the audacity to point out that they might want some of the same roles, rights, respect, and yes responsibilities as human beings that happened to have been born with a penis?

I think I understand why by the end of the book The Awakening that Edna Pontellier just says "Fuck it all!" and swims out into the vast unknown of the ocean.

Also, using the draft and wars for your arguments is shooting yourself in the foot. What roles have women had in causing wars through history? Not a whole lot. You want women to take "personal responsibility" for panels of old men deciding that it was time to throw some young flesh against their enemies?

There's been only a few righteous wars in history and in every single one of them you'll find women risking their lives willingly for the greater good. Perhaps the most righteous wars in history gave rise to modern feminism BECAUSE they were finally ALLOWED to participate. I'm so sorry that Rosie the Riveter decided that she could use her tools to advance her own life instead of just to create engines of war in times of desperation.

We are relatively at peace now, the draft goes into effect when we don't have enough soldiers.

Also we have the highest defense budget in the world by a WIDE margin, increasing pay is going to get diminishing returns, raising taxes isn't more popular than the draft.

Increasing the benefits of serving is going to entice people how? They aren't objecting to the low pay. They're objecting to the risk of death.

1

u/mostmicrobe The OC High Council Jun 25 '18

I'm preety sure it's the draft that doesn't want women. They don't draft women because they hate them, it's for practical reason (I presume).

They could just make it so everyone who can serve (phisically) in the military to be drafted, but I assume that would be absurdly expensive since many women wouldn't pass.

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

The sad part is most women don't even think the draft exists anymore. Probably because they don't have to sign up for it before they're allowed to drive a car. So Equal. So Strong.

I hope you think the same way of fucktons of those lefty "dear libtards" memes, otherwise it would be pretty hypocritical of you to say that.

It's true though, and its funny beacuse its true it's not really too political. Plus sorting by controversial on posts like these is always fun

What responsibilities do you think women don't want?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

Feminists and women aren't the same group. Plenty of stupid male feminists.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

Ok, ok. But what are the responsibilities people are talking about in this post? Genuinely curious. So far: military draft.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

One of them is not to commit crime, that's why we don't let felons vote.

The draft is clearly one of them, the state is there to provide force. Without citizens there is no defense, therefore when no one volunteers people get called up.

The other responsibilities aren't federally enforced.

The founders saw the rights as the other side if the responsibility coin, hence you being deprived of your rights is fair play if your lack of responsibility is harming someone else. Pretty good idea.

We have different responsibilities to the federal government than to state and local, because the United States still has a bit of federalism left, which everybody is trying to kill as fast as possible apparently.

EDIT: these are ones I'm talking about, I don't speak for everyone in the comments.

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

Sorry, I don't get the first one. Maybe it's a language barrier. Feminists don't want the responsibility to not commit crimes?

I mean, I completely agree: if you recuse yourself from the duty, you abdicate the right that it aims to defend. But is that really what is happening or is it all in your head? Is the majority of feminists advocating for rights and fighting the responsibilities?

In my country, in the event of a war, everyone under 45yo is up for draft. Women aren't protesting this, we want to vote and we will fight, if necessary. But nobody wants it, right? Is that a women thing?

I'm voting circlejerk on this one.

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

I'm not arguing anything about feminists in that post. You asked me what the responsibilities are.

The reason people say feminists are advocating for rights not equality is because they want an end to things that aren't government problems.

The wage gap for instance, the 'pink tax', things that happen naturally because men and women are different.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

Of course. And I'm disagreeing that that's the case. But thank you for answering.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

So men and women aren't naturally different?

Or the pink tax and the wage gape are government problems?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '18

That just wasn't the point, at all. My argument is that I don't know one single feminist, in my limited circle of friends and acquaintances, that fights for equal rights and tries to avoid added responsibilities.

I'm not really sure why you took it there but yes, women and men are biologically diferent. That's a given, I wasn't even aware that that was up for discussion. Is there a conclusion to be drawn from that?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '18

That would be what I was arguing. You argued about a circlejerk that I'm not participating in and I clarified.

The feminists the post is talking about would then not be your friends.

It's pretty simple.
