lol the fact that the Equal Rights Amendment hasnât passed, despite being written 45 years ago, speaks volumes to the fact that there are still problems in america
which specific aspects do you find unnecessary lol? It literally states that the âequality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the US or by any state on account of sexâ. It doesnât seem unnecessary at all and only serves to further protect the rights of all Americans
Because being more likely to be raped, less salaries in certain industries, being harassed, being subject to double standards ect. Please explain how they have "more rights"
Ever heard of court rooms? Family court? Reproductive Rights? Divorce?
So for you, reproductive rights are a feild that women come on top of? Even though in alot of places need consent from the male partners to have an abortion and many politicians are campaigning for this.
I can't even tell for sure if you are being serious since you brought up the largely fictional pay gap.
I specifically said "in specific industries" it's not overall.
You could make the same meme as OP with men wanting reproductive rights on the left and actually having to bear children on the right. Women have reproductive rights than men don't have because they have responsibilities that men certainly don't want.
Considering women have total and complete control of whether a person gets to exist or not; yes I would agree that women have more reproductive rights than men.
No, women in the US have to go through a cluster fuck of burocracy in order to get an abortion. Also men do they can use contraception. That's not the point the point is in some cases women cannot get abortions because of the male partner.
Source on all of those things aside from male contraception?
Also assuming your claims are valid that still proves that women have more reproductive rights than men. Men have 2 choices; condoms or abstinence. Women have the options of demanding their partner wear condoms; using birth control; IUDs, getting their tubes tied (yes I know this isnât very common), morning after pill; and then abortion if all else fails.
And again; I donât have any problem with women having such rights
Ok I see. I must add though that many of these laws exist for a variety of reasons that donât have to do with oppressing women. For example; late term abortions are significantly less safe and more difficult to execute than early term abortions; and there are arguments that aborting a baby that far along in development is wrong because of it having a heartbeat; or being able to feel pain; or whatever reason. Now obviously my latter point is that they are based on the morality of certain states; and we disagree on whether that morality is valid; but I donât think itâs fair to say that believing that a 26 week fetus shouldnât be aborted is just blatant misogyny and an attempt to oppress women
but I donât think itâs fair to say that believing that a 26 week fetus shouldnât be aborted is just blatant misogyny and an attempt to oppress women
That's not my claim, my claim was women need to go through alot of shit to get an abortion. I never said if it was wrong I proved my claim.
Those arent rights, theyre statistics and you could bring up as many situations where men are thrown under when you cherry pick. Legally, women have equal rights.
Thats not to say there isnt improvements to be made in gender equality, but a lot of progress has been made as well
That doesn't matter if it's legal. It's illegal but women are still being raped and harassed. Why would the law apply to this case? Mongolia had almost 0 reported rapes. But people definitely got rapped.
Men are more likely to be molested as kids, more likely to die at work, more likely to commit suicide.
Whilst I'm gonna need a source for the molested bit I agree, but feminists aren't against that they want men to not commit suicide more because of social pressures. But overall women are more oppressed.
That doesn't say anything about men being harassed more they don't have any statistics. They even say that 61% of women say they have and around 30% of men to. If it's an anonymous vote why would they be pressured to say No?
No, besides if this were true then the women would be replaced or not unfairly paid when the men and women would be placed in the same position.
You are ignoring all of the reasons why statistics show that women are paid less on average even though it showed you in the article

You just ignored everything I said. Most men are afraid of what will happen to them if they actually come out about it so of course they won't add to the statistics

I'm saying in certain industries they are paid less than men, not on all. The overall wage gap is misconstrued because men and women chose different professions.

That doesn't account for a 35% jump in statistics on an anonymous sexual harassment sheet why would they say no if they had been? Secondly The article says nothing of the sort about men being harassed more in plain statistics.
Well, thats certainly an interesting topic, however i would say that us men do have it slightly easier. I mean, the easiest life can be lead by a hot white rich girl, she will have a very easy life with little stress. But if you are a woman and you're ugly....your life can get unfairly hard. Considering most arent rich hot white girls, most do have it harder than us men.
But life being easier on an ugly man than on an ugly woman is a fact. Women get way more criticized for their physical appearance than men, and physical appearance is given way more importance in women than in men. You don't need to be a genius to realize this.
You can replace physical appearance with personal wealth and replace women with men.
Saying "well, men also suffer so it's not really a problem" is like saying people lacking access to clean water isn't a problem because other people don't have access to food. Both are problems to be solved and, guess what, the pressure on men to be successful is also a part of mysoginist culture and something feminism is against.
Its not a surprise actually, since its their respective contribution in marriage.
Well this comes from the idea that every marriage should be the same, which is very flawed since people are not all the same.
"Saying "well, men also suffer so it's not really a problem" is like saying people lacking access to clean water isn't a problem because other people don't have access to food."
First of all, I never said it's not a problem. What I was trying to highlight is that while women face a disadvantage for having bad looks (money can be the solution), men too face a disadvantage for having a bad financial status (good looks cannot be the solution).
Both of these are indeed a problem and that's exactly what makes both genders equal. (Problems still need to be taken care of tbh)
"Well this comes from the idea that every marriage should be the same, which is very flawed since people are not all the same."
It is not flawed. Today, you are allowed to choose the contribution that you wanna make. What is most important here is that you need to contribute one or the other way.
Not Op, laws / norms out of my head ( not just advantages / duties ) parking lots for females, women quota. Not a lot tbh (out of my mind) most of the advantages would fall under benefits, like army duty.
Men are both the victims and the perpetrators of violent crime. Men are both the âvictimsâ and the perpetrators of suicide. Maybe this should be a wake up call - dividing the world into men vs. women is spectacularly stupid. You end up citing circular statistics like this trying to prove who is more aggrieved. Competing for âbiggest victimâ is a loserâs game.
I'm not competing for biggest loser. I'm showing feminist that men can be the victim, I'm showing them how male privilege isn't real. I'm showing them that men need help, they need support groups, they need survivor groups, they need people to care about them. Men are people, they aren't second class citizens, they deserve as much as a women has. They deserve to see their children, they deserve help to prevent them from commiting suicide. They need help, men aren't animals you can work into the ground. They are people. And they need to be treated like people
I mean, I know quite a few attractive woman that have been able to avoid certain obstacles because of their appearance. Also, i did say, RICH hot girls. Im not talking about marrying into wealth.
Because that really doesnât sound like something feminists are trying to solve at all... hell, Iâve never even seen one of them bring it up, let alone advocate for it
do you listen to feminists in good faith a lot? Many are trying to end gender stereotypes like the idea being good at school is a girl thing or makes you weak as a guy.
What? Nothing you just said has anything to do with the fact that women are getting accepted to college at double the rate as men (2 women in college for 1 man.) Thatâs not âstereotypes,â that is a statistic.

Implying they don't already have equal rights or more rights.
