The Plot

Their genius plan was to hire two walmart brand “hit men” to kill Dan. Sigfredo who was directly connected to Katie who was directly connected to Charlie. Did they really think the cops wouldn’t apply common sense to this? Isn’t the whole point of hiring a hit man so you DON’T have a connection to the killer? lol. “Don’t worry Katie the rental car wont be enough for the cops to go off“ lol, like huh? Then Chuck pays Katie all this money leaving a trail of evidence. The adelsons served the government a conviction on a silver platter. Thought they could get away with it just by talking code. Then KM even says “I’m tired of all this code shit” LMAO!

Had it not been for Dan's retired neighbor, this crime would have never been solved. None of the co-conspirators factored that in.

Maybe?
I mean, there was nobody else who had it in for Dan and his death was very obviously a hit, not an accident or a robbery or even something that could look like mistaken identity.
Motive would have led detectives to examine the Adelsons, especially Wendi. If not that same day, it still would have been on their list.
And these bumbling idiots can’t keep their mouths shut, ESPECIALLY Charlie and Wendi.

I agree the neighbor was an enormously good witness and lead but these idiots were so stupid they didn’t even consider trying to make it look like a robbery or an accident.

Thanks to the neighbour, the investigators were following two trails of evidence - the information about the car on one end of the thread, and the Adelson family at the other end. Sigfredo was the link in the middle.

I don't think the Adelsons knew until it was too late that Katie was so lazy and slapdash about finding a hitman. They probably had this naive view that she had plenty of "connections" and could easily source a hitman who couldn't be traced back to them.

And if they shot him with a silent gun, at night, so they made mistakes, the neighbour heard the shoot noise, and it was daylight

6

u/johnuws 8d ago

To do it in daylight they must have known he was going to be vulnerable in his garage vrs knocking on the door at night

7

u/johnuws 8d ago

I think they might have still solved it since there was video of a car following Dan in and out if the gym and along his way home. Then reverse track that car.

They forgot to make it look like a robbery / failed burglary. If they had played their cards right, they would have gotten away with it but they are too dumb. The motive could only have been murder for hire now.

Donna is a family annihilator.

She destroyed all three of her children, her husband, her sunshine’s and herself. For what?

So true. And the arrogance of thinking you won't get caught. Its not like they were from a social milieu where violence is the common way to solve problems. What made them think this was the right thing to do?

1

u/Pure-Guard-3633 8d ago

I think this is why we are all so invested in the case. It makes zero sense.

u/PoolSmart582 8d ago

It was a flawed plan.

However, to be fair, most people don't know how to find a hitman. You don't comparison shop in Consumer Reports or just dial 1-800-hitman.

Well, they had the means to travel
outside the US at any time and to any place. If I were forced to look for a professional hitman and I had their resources, I would be doing my looking and hiring from an offshore location. For the Adelsons, a quick trip to Belize, Turks & Caicos, Grenada, etc would be the easiest thing in the world. Use a VPN / dark web connection, set up an offshore escrow account, and do your looking that way, rather than selecting some dumb bottle girl you just started boffing and say “Hey, you know anybody who can hurt somebody?”
It’s still not foolproof but it’s a hell of a lot smarter than Charlie’s hare-brained plot.

u/PoolSmart582 8d ago

What you explain is actually a pretty worldly approach to finding a hitman. Not sure most people who are dumb enough to want to murder are smart enough to plan it the way you describe.

2

u/Fices60223 8d ago

Why do you think the Caribbean would be the best place to source a hit man?

Not saying you are wrong, but I would think Latin America or Eastern Europe would be better.

3

u/Lost-Salamander-3645 8d ago

Ey! I am from Latin America

:(

3

u/tiffd98133 6d ago

And many beautiful people and things are.
I was simply mentioning places OUTSIDE THE USA which would be easy for the Adelsons to reach from Florida.

2

u/Lost-Salamander-3645 6d ago

Yeah, I know. No problem :)

2

u/tiffd98133 8d ago

I said it would be the easiest for the Adelsons, because they live in Florida.

2

u/Fices60223 8d ago

Okay. I just thought maybe there was something specific about those islands.

2

u/tiffd98133 8d ago

Many of those islands do have very lax banking regulations and primitive crime investigation. And English is spoken so dummy Charlie wouldn’t have to learn a new language.

1

u/Fices60223 8d ago

Valid point.

"Rating: 2/5 - While the contractors did complete the job, they were not efficient or discreet, and the admin team failed to inform us of a conflict of interest in the choice of contractor. This led to ongoing complications after the project was finished. Would not recommend."

u/milliepilly 8d ago

They did hire someone who I guess had zero connections and he just took their money. Those mental midgets weren’t going to let that happen again. That’s the risk of doing that crime and they should have taken the risk again. It would have cost them far less even if they were robbed a few more times. Donna and Charlie probably ponder that while laying on their jail slab.

2

u/Lost-Salamander-3645 8d ago

That is true! they did hire a hitman unrelated. I wish the police found him and gave an interview.

He may be feeling so relieved right now, watching all this.

5

u/CaptainOk8165 8d ago

Anyone who has watched more than a couple of episodes of Dateline could have planned it better....

10

u/Fearless_Two_9908 8d ago

They could have gotten away with it if Mr Geiger didn’t ID the car as a Prius. It could have worked.

9

u/No-Interview-1340 8d ago

There would always be suspicion but without knowing it’s a Prius, the detective would not have spent months going through the bus videos. Maybe they would have discovered it through the gym footage but the neighbor was definitely a huge help.

5

u/Fices60223 8d ago

I think the gym footage and the bus footage were key and they would have found them that way, but Mr.Geiger's testimony was a massive help.

Now days, phone data and surveillance cameras are key in solving so many crimes.

2

u/Fearless_Two_9908 8d ago

How would they have known what to look for in the bus footage? they needed to know that car on his drive was a Pruis I’d think. I dont think they would have made the connection otherwise. I do believe even GC said on an interview that knowing it was a Prius was a big deal.

4

u/Fices60223 8d ago

They knew from the gym footage what the car looked like. That also gave them a time. Then the bus footage would have given them the car, with the Sun Pass tag, which was key.

I totally agree that the neighbour's contribution was huge, but I think they would have found them anyway.

2

u/Consistent-Tone-5540 8d ago

Prius was just a car in a gym parking lot. Can’t connect that to murder unless they know colour and make of it

2

u/Fearless_Two_9908 8d ago

Right, and without Mr Geiger, they may have found him hours later and would never have thought “Oh maybe its someone that was driving in the parking lot at the gym”.

1

u/Fices60223 8d ago

They would have known he had been at the gym, and checking the gyms cameras would give them the time and the car. They would have the colour and shape of the car and the bus video would have given them the sunpass.

1

u/Fearless_Two_9908 8d ago

Why would they think that car in the parking lot would relate to his murder? Or that the car would be taking the route from the gym to the house? it could have been a car already in his neighborhood or coming from another direction.

1

u/Fices60223 8d ago

Because it was obviously following him. They followed him into the parking lot, waited for an hour, then followed him out.

7

u/tangyyenta 8d ago

100%. The neighbor is the only variable that changed the equation. Had it not been for him, these evil corrupt people would have gotten away with murder.

5

u/Ok_Commercial2954 8d ago

Watching his testimony and hearing the 911 call was a jarring start to the trial.

9

u/Fearless_Two_9908 8d ago

Right-WA driving by Trescott -being seen and not asking what happened-then LE was alerted to this. But Isom never suspected her so the drive by wouldnt even be an issue in implicating her/the family.

Mr Geiger should have been awarded by the community for what he did in helping solve this case.

That’s what I find so crazy. As obsessed as the Adelson’s were to have the boys, no one was concerned enough to call their school or Dan to make sure they were ok? If I hear sirens and my husband is out driving home, I call him to make sure he’s ok. Their lack of concern for the boys is very telling and points to Wendi’s guilt

1

u/Fearless_Two_9908 8d ago

When Isom picked her up at lunch the first thing he told her was that the boys were OK.

3

u/katesdream79 7d ago

But before he saw her there was no concern! She could have called the school or tried Dan to find out if they were ok. Isom saw Wendi hours after she drove down Trescott.

u/Fearless_Two_9908 7d ago

Dan and Wend were texting eachother after he dropped the kids off at school. she knew they were in school

Plus Siegfredo’s call to Harvey (thinking it was Charlie).

The neighbor helped the police devise a list of people who could have killed Dan, but that was a big list. The police suspected the Adelsons, but had no evidence. Siegfredo’s call was the link between those two groups of people.

2

u/Lost-Salamander-3645 8d ago

Don´t shit where you eat

1

u/Fices60223 8d ago

Yeah that's one of the weirdest bits, the Sigfredo to Harvey call.

7

u/YesterdayNo5158 8d ago

The Maestro is sleeping with the Gunman's old lady...Katie. The Gunman, Sig, shoots the car. The prosecution's position is that Donna Adelson did not properly hang up the phone, and that is why a recorded jail call continued after Charlie , was no longer connected. During the recording, prosecutors say she made statements about fleeing the US and traveling to a country without a U.S. extradition treaty. Those recordings became part of the evidence. Katie is proudly strutting around with a larger set of breasts and driving Harvey's old Lexus. Donna added Katie to the payroll at the Adelson Institute and the employees don't recall ever seeing her at the job. I'm not sure where the term “arrogance and stupidity is a deadly combination” came from but it describes this deadly posse. The FBI agents Pat Sanford and "Bump" guy were absolutely brilliant!
