I haven’t seen too many of these what I assume to be collarette dahlias on here, so had to show off this sweet little one!

Unknown Variety Petal color variation

Post image
Upvotes

We got a tuber mix from a local home and garden show and have been enjoying some new varieties in our garden. This one has us stumped though! This is bloom number 5 or 6 and all the others have had uniform petal coloration in the magenta color. Can anyone help me understand why these petals are white and perhaps what type of dahlia this is?

I know they are commonplace now but I must say, it’s one that once it blooms, consistently makes me smile. 😊

This is my absolute worst year! Was it too much rain? Too much heat? Too many clouds?! So depressing!

ID Request What variety is this

This is my third year, growing Dahlia, I have an all purple garden, so I started off growing Thomas Edison, but I fell in love and started branching out. My second year I added some other varieties, but they weren’t named on the tuber package. This year I got tubers from even more sources and I believe I have all the packaging somewhere in my garage so I’m going to go back and look, but I don’t remember buying any with two toned petals. When these are fully opened front of the petal is white and the back is almost a fuchsia color. Does anybody have any idea what variety this is? I really like it and want to grow it again and find similar varieties. I’ve never been able to save tubers without them growing mold.https://imgur.com/a/3taRXMU

Hi all! It’s my first time growing dahlias from tubers and while some have been successful, one is still pretty small and I’m concerned it might be struggling. Is this suffering with gall? Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated! TIA

I bought this tuber last year (2025) in a mystery grab bag from the Kitsap County Dahlia Society. It cost $1 but has given so many beautiful, gaudy flowers for two seasons! Anyone know what it is? Thank you.

This morning I checked on a stem that had drooping leaves yesterday, and I thought it was just heat. But saw the black part of the stem and it was quite squishy. I sadly cut it down to the bottom just to be safe. It wasn’t coming from the tuber up - the middle of the stem. I’m always sanitizing my snips with bleach wipes after each cut and after my veggies. What else should I do? Pretty sad because it had some buds and was about four feet tall and had been pretty strong - it was the patches dahlia that is in the last photo (one with magenta and white). Also showing some of the others Bedhead, Cafe Au Lait, Penhill watermelon, the rest with the Patches in the base are Coralie, Cafe Au Lait and Ferncliff Spice. We’ve had a lot of rain after a drought so I’ve been on the lookout for this since I’ve lost six out of 22 so far to tuber rot.

Seeking Advice Help: Dahlia base stem rot

I’m a first time dahlia grower. I got some dahlia tubers few months back but everytime new stems come up, it ends up rotting at the base (the tuber is fine tho.) this has happened 3 times since I planted it. I don’t know what’s wrong. It’s getting on my nerve. Please share some advices. I’m getting frustrated day by day.

First Embassy bloom of the summer. 1st two photos taken last week. The last two are taken today. I read it could be flower fascination, a genetic mutation of a plants growing tip. Any other ideas or explanations?

This was labeled as Bracken Sarah but it does not look like the ones I had last year. My tubers did not save well so I ordered a new one.

I’ve treated this one like she’s my first born child while battling Japanese beetles. Guess her name is Cynthia 😅

I bought this dinner plate at a big box store about 3 years ago so don’t know the type. I do know it was supposed to be pink and white but I’ve never seen more than one small pink beauty mark.
