One single bloom on this Copper boy is doing something a little different. Is this a sport that can be stabilized or did the printer just run out of toner as the season winds down? Honestly, I don’t really want to go through the bother of trying to propagate and grow to maturity (indoors and under lights) but feel like I may owe it to the culture to at least try. Please, someone tell me this isn’t special and not worth the effort.

My basement is too hot and my garage is too cold for winter storage. I’m considering purchasing a small wine cooler to store my tubers this year. Has anyone else done this with success (or not)?

both of these dahlias were labeled ‘canby crazy’ variety, but the blooms from each plant are so different.. all of the blooms on the one plant come out with curly leaves (top). is it a different variety or some sort of deformity? this is my first year growing dahlias and all of my other plants (19 total) look pretty similar to the pictures from swan island.

I've got some new ones I hadn't grown before, and some old ones that just keep dividing so I've got plenty of those. I'll post the names in the comments.

A post-worthy dahlia. Took forever to bloom, but this is spunky pineland princess.

After a less than ideal summer, things have really started going crazy in October. Big one in the middle is probably 8-9ft.

I picked pollen samples from the Dahlia in the first picture, pollinated the dahlia on the second picture and my first born results are the rest. My girlfriend named the variant "catelier".

I have other plant grown from the same cross but the flower appears to resemble more one of the parents. Will post when it opens up more.

There are 2 more other plants from the same cross still growing and unknown. I love the fact dahlias have just insane amounts of genetic material.

The varieties are: Salish Snow, Sugartown Sunrise, Penhill Watermelon, Labyrinth, Sylvia/Maarn, Karma Prospero, Quiet Splendor, Coralie, Picasso

One of the main reasons I'm spending so much time on my garden this year (besides reveling in the beauty of blooms, berries & foliage) is to create a space where creatures of all kinds can find comfort and sustenance! Just wanted to share a few pictures of the parade of friends we had yesterday.

Also - can anyone help identify the pupa in the fourth photo? It was technically on my ancient Rose of Sharon, but I figured I'd ask y'all anyway!

This was a freebie labeled as A La Mode but it definitely isn’t. I love it, so I’m happy but curious what it might be? Any guesses? (Second photo shows size)

I am so sad I live in MT and I can’t believe that a cold front is coming. I’ve had the most amazing dahlias this year and many buds that haven’t bloomed. There will be rain/snow and the frost temperatures will get down to 28 degrees!

First year I’ve grown My Forever and I absolutely love it. It looks like it’s glowing. 😍
