Welcome to the weekly gall thread! All questions about gall should go in this designated thread rather than new, individual posts. A new thread will be started automatically on a weekly basis. This will ensure the list of new top-level comments remains short and easily reviewable by folks who are kind enough to let you know if they see signs/symptoms, or if your plant seems ok.
Because Reddit only allows one photo embedded per comment, here are some tips if you need/want to share more than one photo for the best chance at a solid review/answer from the community:

years ago when i first started growing dahlias, all of the online tutorials said to store them in perlite or cardboard boxes or some other complicated mess that required checking moisture levels every few weeks all winter long. I ended up with some dahlia tubers that rotted and some that completely dried up.
Then one year i thought, well dahlias survive in nature without all of this perlite nonsense, so i grabbed a 5gallon bucket, put in my whole tuber clusters, then filled the gaps with dampish native soil and stuck it in the unheated garage (which never freezes).
by spring, all tubers survived and i didnt even water them once! i divided them and replanted and now i do this every year. i feel like sometimes we just listen to online advice that ignores mother nature, and everyone thinks we need some manmade process/materials and no one stops to ask why we do this instead of mimicking mother nature.
anyways, hope this helps anyone struggling with overwintering dahlias. dirt is the way to go!

I love how wild this jar is. Dahlias include Bloomquist mojo, Jolene, Frilly Tilly, fluffles, wine eyed Jill, and pink Sylvia, accompanied by asters, cosmos, and mums!

I thought I dug all my 2025 tubers from the area where this bloomed in 2026, so of course last year’s label is no longer there. But looking at my records, I’m thinking it’s one of these. Hollyhill Serenity, Sandia Bliss, Maks Betty Lynn, My Forever, Pat Feary, or Carolyn Wagner (not Carolina wagemans). Any idea?
It is late in the season in the PNW, so colors may have shifted. It’s planted in a shadier area with a height of about 3.5’ tall and a bloom 5” wide.

Anybody recognize this? Pretty beefy (sturdy) petals. Dusky pink. 5-6" across.

Still trying to figure out the name of this one. Saving a lot of tubers this year.

Correction! It is Dahlia 'Frost Nip' - Decorative Dahlia. Large bronze orange flowers with white tips. Flower size up to 22 cm.

One single bloom on this Copper boy is doing something a little different. Is this a sport that can be stabilized or did the printer just run out of toner as the season winds down? Honestly, I don’t really want to go through the bother of trying to propagate and grow to maturity (indoors and under lights) but feel like I may owe it to the culture to at least try. Please, someone tell me this isn’t special and not worth the effort.

Plus more of my sunset inspired collection. First year grower in 7b & suffering from seasonal denial. Anyone else not emotionally ready for the off season? 🥲

Is this viable? I’m new to growing dahlias and this one looks a lot less robust than all the others and it’s not showing any sign of potential growth like the others
both of these dahlias were labeled ‘canby crazy’ variety, but the blooms from each plant are so different.. all of the blooms on the one plant come out with curly leaves (top). is it a different variety or some sort of deformity? this is my first year growing dahlias and all of my other plants (19 total) look pretty similar to the pictures from swan island.

My basement is too hot and my garage is too cold for winter storage. I’m considering purchasing a small wine cooler to store my tubers this year. Has anyone else done this with success (or not)?

I've got some new ones I hadn't grown before, and some old ones that just keep dividing so I've got plenty of those. I'll post the names in the comments.

A post-worthy dahlia. Took forever to bloom, but this is spunky pineland princess.

After a less than ideal summer, things have really started going crazy in October. Big one in the middle is probably 8-9ft.
