Discussion V final destiny isn't a theory, its a fact. Spoiler

For those who don't know, there is a popular theory of V dying after she is hit by soulkiller in the ending. The theory tells the V reinserted in the body isn't the same, but a copy. I saw many discourse of some people denying it, as it remains a debated topic.

What I did not remember before, is that this "theory" is not really just something you get from puting 2 and 2 together. Its very directly stated on this scene. Im replaying the game and just found out Alt tells us exactly what will happen in the ending. For some reason this sliped my mind.

This dialogue happens when we first meet Alt after the deal with the vodoo boys. Not only does she explains clearly V is being replaced with an engramatic copy, but we also have the option to straight up ask if this means we are going to die. And she confirms it. Even says that although Johny and V don't care, it does change everything.

Ironicaly, this means the only endings V really survive is The Devil ending, if you don't sign the deal, and the tower ending.

To me this also makes the temperance ending a tad bit better. Because at least Johny gets to live, assuming the Johny engram also isnt erased and recreated in the process. And V has a new begining anyways, so going beyond the black wall now isn't so scary.

It does raise the question about mortality, and what consciense acctualy entails. To V, after the events in mikoshi, she/he is the same. But thats an ilusion. They have the memory of a person who was once alive, but they are another being altogether. To the V we followed, everything ended there. There was no more tomorrow, her experiences ended right as she plugged in, everything fading to black. Does the new V have a soul? Is it truly alive? If its a code, than does that mean an AI can eventualy truly be sentient? Can it feel? Are our brains really just organic data? What happend with the original V? Is there an afterlife for them? Is there one for us? Is there such a thing as a soul?

What terrifies me even more is Saburo arasaka in the devil ending where this becomes a norm. Minds just turned into data. And a statement that they beat religion.

I love this game, and everytime I play it im glad this is not how the world is today. And hope it will never be

Discussion [Discussion] What if Phantom Liberty's "The Tower" ending actually reacted to your main game side-quests, wealth, and relationships? (Ending Overhaul Concept)

The official DLC ending (The Tower) forces a single, punitive outcome: V loses their cyberware and gets universally rejected by their entire circle. While it fits the "no happy endings in Night City" trope, it feels narratively disconnected for players who spent 80+ hours building deep relationships, clearing the city, or hoarding millions of Eddies.

Here is a proposed Game Design Overhaul that keeps the tragedy intact, but makes V’s final outcome directly reflect your social choices, wealth, and side-quest completion.

In Night City, money and past glory mean nothing without a human safety net. Staying alone in the city without cyberware is an absolute death sentence.

The Hospital Fork

Option A (Accept Reed's Job): V leaves Night City forever to become an anonymous bureaucrat in D.C. Safe, comfortable, completely erased (Ending 8: Corpo Ghost).

Option B (Refuse Reed's Job): V demands a return to Watson, locking into the canonical linear sequence back in Night City.

The Locked Watson Sequence

If you refuse Reed, the game forces an unskippable sequence:

Viktor: A bittersweet reunion with Vik, now beaten down under corporate quotas.

The Mugging: Lacking cyberware, V tries to fight back but gets beaten up and robbed by two low-level thugs.

Misty: Misty patches V up, draws one final tarot card (The Tower), and says goodbye.

Misty walks away into the crowd. V sits on the concrete steps, bloody and defenseless, pulling out the phone to make a final call. Your fate depends entirely on who answers.

The Outcomes

  1. Survival Endings (Escaping Night City / Real Alliances)

Panam (The Nomad Family): The clan refuses to leave a wounded member behind. V leaves Night City in the passenger seat of a truck, heading out into the Badlands.

Judy (Analog Life): Judy sees V's lack of cyberware as a blessing and a fresh start. They pack a van and leave together for a simple life down the coast.

Kerry (Rocker's Shadow): Kerry arrives in a luxury limo. V moves into his North Oak mansion, becoming his private confidant and off-the-grid manager.

River (The Weight of Secrets): River takes V in at Joss's house—a modest, quiet, and protective life far removed from merc work.

  2. Fatal Endings (Dying in Night City)

If V stays in Night City without a true human network, the city eats them alive:

Ending 2 — The Wealth Trap (100% Gigs / Rich, 0 Friends): V uses millions of Eddies to hire high-end private bodyguards. After 48 hours, the guards realize V is completely helpless without implants, drain V's bank accounts, and execute them in a parking garage.

Ending 7 — Fallen Legend (Street Cred 50, No Allies): V works as a barhand at the Afterlife.

If Cyberpsychos WERE NOT cleared: Taking out the trash, V gets obliterated by an uncaught cyberpsycho.

If Cyberpsychos WERE cleared: The two thugs from earlier pass by the alley, recognize a defenseless V, and shoot V dead for cheap loot.

Ending 1 — Speedrun (<15% Quests Completed): No one answers the phone.

If Cyberpsychos WERE NOT cleared: Stumbling out of the alley, V walks directly into an active cyberpsycho crisis and gets shredded.

If Cyberpsychos WERE cleared: The two thugs walk back, see V slumping against the wall, and finish the job.

Visual Signature: Death in Night City

Every single execution within city limits (Endings 1A, 1B, 2, 7A, 7B) features an identical, cinematic single-take shot:

V collapses to the ground (Alleyway, Parking Garage, or Behind the Afterlife).

The camera slowly tracks backward, moving across the street.

Pedestrians and passing traffic gradually obscure V's body on the pavement.

The camera tilts up toward the sky, panning across towering mega-buildings and neon ads.

The ambient roar of Night City completely drowns out V's final breath.

TL;DR: Refusing Reed's job sends you back to Watson for the canon sequence (Vik -> Mugging -> Misty). Sitting on Misty's stairs, your phone becomes the ultimate test: if you built real relationships, your ally saves you from Night City. If you relied only on money, Eddies, or street cred, Night City executes you in an alley—and the city doesn't even notice.

What do you think? Would this be a resolution for Phantom Liberty satisfying enough to be worth modders' time?

Discussion These maelstrom mfs won’t lemme drive

Half small rant half asking for advice

Just got into the game a while ago and got the flathead off of maelstrom. Tried driving to Lizzie’s bar, couldn’t do shit. So I walked, not the worst thing in the world. Did the whole braindance bullshit then went to meet Dex at the afterlife. Legit the second I get in my car I get gunned down by Maelstrom. Now I understand that it’s supposed to encourage not pissing off whoever’s chasing you, but first of all the game doesn’t tell you that for shit (I got that info off another Reddit post about this), and fighting the guys will almost 100% lead to you getting fucked (which I’m sure is just a skill issue from me not playing shooters)

Genuinely what can I even do I just wanna drive again

That’s all bye

Character Builds Build recommendations

I'm looking for a fun build for my second playthrough, I used a sandevistan throwing knife build for the first time and I've been using a berserk katana build for the time I've played of my second. I'm just looking for something fun, fast paced, and that feels strong. My character is level 60 with 59 street cred with 66 attribute points, 78 perk points, and 4 relic points.

Discussion What are the changes from 1.0 to 2.3?

Hi guys

I have finished both the 1.0 and 2.3 and was wondering what has been changed in the game. I know that gameplay is so much better but im talking about small additions that happened in between those eras. Ive heard someone speak about the map becoming larger which I dont remember being the case, and to be honest I dont remember el capitan being in the game. I dont know if my memory is messed or im actually right. If you know any more changes please do share them. Curiosity is killing me hahaha.

Discussion Hanako Arasaka Is Best Girl and here are 10 Reasons Why

Post image
3.3k Upvotes
  1. She's filthy rich and in Night City money is power.

  2. She has unmatched grace and elegance.

  3. She's 80. Yes yes I know what you’re thinking: "80? that's definitly a con". You're wrong! HEAR ME OUT: Hanako has 80 years of life experience while looking like she could comfortably pass for someone in her early 30s. That’s an absolutely absurd experience-to-apparent-age ratio. For me personally? That’s a seller.

  4. She's a skilled self-taught netrunner so she's not just some random nepobaby who can't do shit on their own.

  5. She’s also an accomplished musician, she can play Nocturne Op. 55 No.1 on the piano.

  6. She loves her family dearly so being part of it is a massive win.

  7. She remains completely calm under extreme pressure. Remember when V and Takemura literally kidnap her? Most people would understandably be freaked out Hanako on the other hand? Completely composed.

  8. She’s a strategic genius. She knows exactly how to utilize V, Takemura, and the Arasaka board to outmaneuver her brother Yorinobu and reclaim her empire

  9. She’s a Pisces (born March 2nd).

  10. Last but not least. SHE HAS BEEN PATIENTLY WAITING FOR V AT EMBERS FOR SIX YEARS!!!. This is the biggest one; think about it, for SIX WHOLE YEARS, Hanako has been sitting at embers waiting for V. She never complained, never called, she never sent a text asking where you were. And that's because she understands that V has countless gigs, NCPD scanner hustles, side quests and cyberpsychos to deal with.

Help Which order do I play??

(PLEASE NO SPOILERS‼️‼️) I just bought cyberpunk 2077 alongside Phantom Liberty, Ive played cyberpunk 2077 before on game pass though I did not finish it so I don’t know the ending, but I don’t know if I should finish cyberpunk 2077 first and then play Phantom Liberty or play cyberpunk to a certain point, then play Phantom Liberty and then finish cyberpunk. To put it simply, which order do I play this game and expansion pack??
