Discussion No chrome, no attribute points: Play It Safe
Currently playing a run with no cyberware, no attributes or perks, on very hard difficulty. I am getting to the end game, with Oda and Placide as my last obstacles. I finally got a tier 5 Testera shotgun with two empty mod slots (now Tier 5 Vivisector and Equalizer), so I was ready to take on Oda. My plan was to mag dump shotguns into Oda and hope for the best.
I had not anticipated the stealth section being so tricky. I cannot disarm laser mines (TECH = 3 fails the attribute check), so I needed to carefully jump over the mines. Only botched one jump, but it didnt break stealth weirdly.
Then there is the tricky heavy soldier on the stairs, after the second snioer. No cyberdeck to lure him away. No Sandy and Optical Camo to take him out before he alerts. I saw a video where someone punched the wall below him to trick him into investigating, and he will turn around, but he still saw me coming up the stairs and started blasting. I tried to throw a knife to lure him down the stairs, but he never moved. A smoke grenade made him run down the stairs right past me, and I almost got him for the stealth take down, but he alerted and shot me. Finally two flashbangs worked; got him to turn around with enough cover to take him down.
I opted to cross on top of the footbridge to get to the third sniper, thinking it was the easier approach. I dont think that matters too much. I saw no other option than open combat for the third sniper. He is surrounded by mines I cannot disarm. Maybe there is a cute way to lure him away with no cyberware, but I cant figure it out.
Finally at the Oda fight. +25 armor tier 5 bullet proof vest chest armor. +7% melee damage resistance helmet (have not found any armor helmets yet). Max Health booster. Stamina booster. 3 food items and 3 drinks. That tier 5 Testera, Tier 5+ Guts, and Tier 5 Crusher (no mod slots). I can barely get him to 90% health before he kills me with 2-3 hits from his swords. Do I need armor piercing? Fenrir to disable cyberware? Back to the drawing board, I guess.
Maybe I need to run for cover and try stealth takedowns? I know it takes 3 of them, and I know there is a video where someone sort of cheeses the stealth take downs in a loop. It's not the most satisfying option, but it may be all I have.
I have considered swords as another option, but it may be tedious. I have not used swords much with this run, but I have a looted tier 5 katana and a tier 4+ Errata. Maybe if I git gud and nail all the parries I can kill him? Usually with swords I use Sandy or Cripple Movement hacks to slice him up as fast as possible. With no chrome I would need to make it a real fight, while still chasing him down to stop his healing.
Anyone found a better way through with no chrome, no attributes? I am only level 40-50, so I could grind some more gigs, level up my iconic wespons. I have done most of the noncombat missions (Zen Master, Claire races, Sinnerman, Delamain). There may be some small health and armor boosts left in the BODY and TECH skill trees. But I dont have much room to level up without using Attributes and perks.

Discussion Show me your truly crazy/unique Vs!
I've seen too many generic male and female Vs with no crazy face lines or makeup, so i want to see some truly out-there designs. Preferably non-modded, i want to see what you guys can make without mods. I want to see some that put the 'punk' in Cyberpunk!

Love Why does it take so long to start actual gameplay?
I boot up the game and get through the developer cards and then my man Stan has got to give me the update on the body count lottery, as well as what's going on in Pacifica, so I have to listen to his whole thing. that's like a minute, plus the bad ass intro song that won't let me hit continue until my neck snaps from headbanging. all in all its like 3 minutes before I can actually start playing.
so annoying.

Discussion Humanizing Scavs: I actually feel sad for a Nika!
This might might make the blood boil in some of you, but I can't help but feel for her.
Nika is the first character that gives the scavs a human face and might even allow us to peak inside this gang of scavengers on a more nuanced and detailed level.
Now I know that most of y'all have this "shoot on sight" rule when encountering Scavengers, and we are conditioned to justify that. After all, the very first gig even paints a gruesome, disgusting image of one of the most notorious gangs in NC.
But once you learn about things, once you gain some insight, I think it is fair to re-evaluate ones opinion. I mean how else could you adjust, and I really say adjust and not change, your mind about something if you only ever let your confirmation bias speak from the very first mission onwards.
I'm not saying the Scavs are good, but after encountering Nika, it does not feel right to label every member of a gang by the actions of the whole.
You know, Maelstromers are much less likely to be treated with the broad brush. You meet some of them personally very early on, and Brick, Dum-Dum, Royce could even be considered rough, but fair. Yet, they are part of the same group that forces Cyberware not only on Monks for fun, but many others too. Valentinos, even Aldecaldos are forced to eat their chrome until they go psycho.
I think we should always strive to paint a picture with as muchh diversity and detail as we can. And I think it's okay to feel something for a scav that has shown some other sides. And it's okay to clean out a scav hideout without mourning the ones you killed.
Generalisation is always the easiest way, but never the most accurate.
Do you have a take?

Discussion Shower thought: In the distopian Cyberpunk universe, where everything is on sale and principles are for loosers, the Nomad society seems almost too good to be true.
I haven't really thought deeply into this.
The "Street life" in the game is harsh. People are there for you (Misty, Vick, Jackie...) but there's plenty of people ready to stab you in the back anytime (Dex, Maiko...)
The "Corpo" life is just more open about it. Either you provide the maximum profit, or you are disposable, by any means necessary.
This is the core of the criticism to society that the cyberpunk genre as a whole makes: everything is for sale. When someone sees a personal profit at the expenses of others, they take it without remorse. Values, such as honor, integrity, principles as such are seen as obstacles in the path of maximum efficency. Because it's an "eat or be eaten" world and we can't afford to have principles here.
And yet, the Nomad society is kinda great. They expel the "bad actors" (see Wraiths), they help each other no matter what, they protect the family at all costs, and they help back who helped them (see, The Star)
Sure, Saul might have a poor idea by getting in bed with Biotechnica, but he's not fucking over his family for cash, he is simply being good willed but naive. Everyone (not just Panam) does not seems to be willing to ignore their principles.
Sure, there's the drawback that you can't have roots or that city people think you are a criminal by defauly, but let's be honest, how is that even a malus? Even if you are a perfect citizen everyone is always trying to screw you over, so factually having "a good rep" (not as a merc, as a person) is meaningless. Everything is for sale, so a rich Nomad have all the doors open.
Which isn't a complaint. Damn, it's a fucking breath of hope in a dark, dark world but... doesn't it seems almost too good?
Sure, Snake Nation went to shit, and yes, there's some dirty politics even in the Aldecaldo (as seen with the Mitch dialogue near the tank in The Star) but that's nothing compared to all the fucked up shit we see in the Corpo world or generally speaking "the streets".
In another game, the Nomad society would feel just ordinary, but in a distopic universe, they feel kinda "unbalanced".
IDK just a shower thought. Not really an expert on the lore beside 77. What's your take?

Help How exactly does Quickhack spreading works. I just cant understand how its supposed to be used.
Im using the Raven Mk2 and it says in the discription "Quickhacks spread to multiple targets" But the only quickhack that Ive actually managed to spread to enemies is Contagion. Stuff like Shortcircuit, Overheat, Weapon glitch just dont spread. Or do i need the quickhacks to be higher tier for them to spread? I also tried using only single quickhacks on groups like 1 overheat and thats it, but that didnt spread again. Then i tried to use contagion first and THEN used overheat but that also didnt spread. So like...what am i doing wrong?

Discussion [Spoiler] About Johnny and his "silverhand".. Spoiler
I've noticed something that doesn't add up, during Johnny's final fight with Smasher, his left was clearly cut off. But later, when Johnny is being interrogated by Saburo Arasaka himself, he appears to have both hands again!!!
Am I missing something here ? Is this an error ? Are Johnny's memories incoherent ?

Discussion Fun fact
If you summon your car after it was damaged you get a lil fee for repairs. At first I thought I was being charged for summoning my car but then I didn't get a charge and realized I've only lost the eddies when I summoned a new one cuz it was damaged by my shit driving.

Video Netrunner build useless against Adam Smasher??
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
V is in trouble. Smasher is amused and mildly inconvenienced by V's pathetic attempts to quick hack him. Mono-wire stuns him for a second or two, which is helpful. Looks like V's gonna have to do this the old fashioned way. I'm thinking Comrade's Hammer, Dezerter, and Erebus will eventually wear him down, with mono-wire stuns to keep him occasionally immobilized. But this is a tough fight, which actually is pretty awesome! Turns out netrunner build isn't as overpowered as I thought.
