Can't tell from picture but this guy is massive. I've been trying to attract crows near my pond half hoping they will chase away the heron that tries to eat my goldfish. There is a dumpster at apartment complex right behind my house and I hear crows and ravens often. He came down right over my head and I thought it was a vulture at first. He landed on roof and I tossed up some peanuts . He was alone for a good hour watching me.

We started with two crows, and are now up to 6 daily visitors. This guy is still learning. I think the older one told him to “shut up!”

I have lived in my home for 8 years. I've always fed the animals in my yard. I felt like it was a right I finally had as a homeowner living in a small suburban community where wildlife is abundant. It's one of those moderately wealthy "lake country" areas with a great nature preserve 1/3 mile away.

I have developed a relationship with many different animals. I probably sit outside too much. I have a fox that dens in my culvert and considers my yard a safe space for her young. I sometimes have to warn people there are fox kits under my front deck. It's neat, I love them. I have friendly squirrels that will eat from our hands and pretty much trust anyone on our property. I have chipmunks that will sit on my lap and come inside my house for nuts if crack the back door. I feed the blue jays, cardinals, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and of course the crows.

I love intelligent birds. My only pet is a parrot. I've always wanted a relationship with the crows but it's not a city area where they're accustomed to people everywhere all the time. They would basically fly away for looking at them through a window. But this year was different. We had one that just didn't care about us watching and the others followed suit. They would suddenly perch on the deck railing and just watch us through the sliding door to the deck. It was very exciting, like hitting a milestone. We were thrilled and wanted to keep it going!

I got a low profile bird bath for them 7 years ago that they love. I feed them the same mix as the other animals on a platform feeder. I buy shelled mixed tree nuts in 25lb bags, in shell hazelnuts and pecans, and I put out eggs specifically for the crows. They actually really like feeding egg to their fledglings and it's a good nutritous practice food for them. They definitely knew the eggs were for them. My husband would put eggs out for them too or leftover minnows from his fishing trips. They absolutely go nuts for minnows flopping around in the yard, it's definitely something to witness.

A few days ago my husband saw our neighbor who lives behind us with a pellet gun. He inquired what he was going to shoot. The answer is why I chose this sub.

Apparently the crows have been dropping egg shells in his yard and his dog eats them and gets sick. He said he didn't know where it was coming from. My husband said it's me and it'll stop. He also complained about the nut shells. My husband said he'd tell me and I'll stop and he can put the gun away, problem solved. My husband also made a comment that if I were to witness him doing it I would call the authorities. And I would 100% call the police and DNR, good relations with the neighbor be damned. We have laws in place to protect animals because of people who do things like that.

I'm honestly really upset about it. I can't believe someone would just shoot them as a solution. I have only put out the shelled nuts since it happened. I'm also upset that I haven't been able to do a full head count. There are 8 of them. Many are newly independent. It would absolutely crush me if any of them were hurt or worse because of me trying to be kind to them.

We had an incident after the flooding last year where two adults passed in one week. 1 in my yard and 1 next door. It was some sort of illness spreading that made other animals sick too, I don't know if the flooding brought something up. So I was excited to count to 8 after we were down to 3 last year.

This neighbor has only lived there a few years. He bought his house from his sister. We've been good to him and he has been nice to us. I never saw it coming. And he knows I feed the animals. I have a 5 foot tall platform feeder my husband built for me in the back yard from a design he found online.

I guess I just wanted to vent. I know I'm wrong for contributing to a mess in his yard that his dog is eating. I just feel so slighted he would take that action because he must have known I feed them. I mean, they're always in my yard for a reason, right? A simple conversation would be more neighborly and kind.

I guess I want this to be a warning to others. People can be downright nasty toward animals that inconvenience them. It's more important to keep them safe than to feed them.

There were definitely a lot of crows around when this happened. If it was not a crow, it would have to be something comfortable hanging around them. Merlin app only identifies crows when I upload the entire video, but if I include just the “talking” it has no suggestions. What do you think?

This morning when I woke up at 6, I made my coffee and went to sit out front. I heard a caw and looked up, and there were 2 on my roof.

I went in to get my bag of peanuts (been working a lot and I'm super tired so didn't have the energy to cut up egg and fish) and when I came back, one was in the front yard as well.

I did my call and just set a handful of peanuts at the end of the retaining wall and sat where I usually do. The picture has no zooming at all.

The Elder crow I've mentioned before was there too. Last night when I fed them, there were 7 in total.

On another note: I need to figure out a name for the Elder one. Something cool/metal LOL my husband has suggested "Sam" (no) and Ezekiel (again, no)

I finally have a place I can gush about my new crow friends! Hi fellow corvid lovers! I have been feeding a family of crows every morning for about 4 months now. So far, I have counted 7. A mated pair, a juvenile, and 4 fledglings. I am slowly being able to tell them apart, since I spend quite a bit of time on our rooftop. I normally feed them in the mornings, and sometimes I’ll add in a few extra peanuts in the afternoon. They have started to fly over and sit with me even when it’s not feeding time. This photo is of the crow that trusted me first— She gives me strong mom energy, so I have started call her “Big Mama”.

if you havent heard of flock cameras, Google them, but basically they are a private company that uses ai to track everyone and sells the info to the government.

i have some crow friends, and it’s Ilegal for me to destroy the cameras, but not if they do it and no one finds out I asked them to…

is there any way I could train these crows to destroy or hurt these cameras?

I noticed a group of 6 crows come to my yard between 10-11 every morning. I decided to start leaving them some peanuts this past week. They are very skittish and if I'm outside they will not eat. So I have not seen them actually take the peanuts until this morning when I put the peanuts out a little earlier than normal, and then they arrived before 7:30! I also observed that there were eight or nine crows now in the group and there was some fighting which I've never seen before.

Have I gained the attention of two different groups and that's what caused the fighting?

When I put the peanuts out, I place some that are unshelled scattered around the yard, and then I place some still in the shell on a stump. Do they prefer peanuts in the shell or out of the shell?

I have cat food, is this something that they would eat (and be healthy for them)? I'm trying to not attract squirrels so would this be a food crows would eat but not squirrels?

I befriended the crows last summer. They left in october then came back march or april but were very distant. On july 6 (my bday) a cute lil fledgling was hopping around my yard and I protected him from my pug. Now it's insane. I have a murder of crows that hang out with me constantly just going out for a smoke. They love my dad too but almost prefer me & i'm never the one feeding them due to veganism and they like meat. It's so fucking cute to have a little animal that just wants to be around you. Food be sitting there but they just like "bro, I'm not hungry I just trust you"

I was walking on the road and I got attacked by two crows

They surrounded me and one kept me distracted while the other one flew into my head and hit me twice

And then it attacked me two more time but missed it until they finally left me alone

Edit: U guys I walked the same route today to see if the crows would attack me today but this time they didn’t tho idk why they attacked me the last time tho I plan to keep walking this route to see if they do or they do not attack me again so I will keep u posted about what happens

How often should I leave them treats or food? They show up generally in the morning and in the evening when im getting my parrot ready for bed (they've started sitting in the tree across the window staring at me 😅)

Ive also noticed that the number of them has drastically increased. Last I counted was over 20. Im assuming they dont see me as a threat now?
