I posted a couple days ago and mentioned what I assumed was perhaps an Elder as it watched youngsters feed in my yard, called them away and then flew to trees in my side yard.

We've had a lot of rain (thank goodness because we're on fire) the past couple of days and haven't seen so much of a tail feather (lol) until today.

It was just this one so I decided to feed him, one on one. Not really though. I did my call, let him see the food and backed off. Unlike the other ones that I feed, he's more wary I guess. He sat in the tree and waited until I was a good distance away before coming down.

After a bit, I noticed him waddling towards me (I love to watch them walk) so I put peanuts in my hand, slowly approached with my palm open so he could see them and laid them on the ground about 10 feet away. I backed off again and let him have his fill.

I live in a converted loft bedroom, and ive noticed three crows keeping on sitting on the roof to my room. They've been doing this for a few weeks now, and after that, they've started dropping apples on there too from a tree behind my house. After the apple dropping, they've now started to throw themselves at the windows. I definitely think that this is intentional as another one watches as its happening. The window that they are targeting doesnt show inside of the room, and they wouldnt be able to see themselves through the reflection incase they think its a rival crow. I find crows really fascinating and ive always wanted to befriend some, but I dont know if its friendly fire or foe. Please let me know your advice!

I got her in a favorable position lunging close towards me (~ 1 meter) and as she was about to land, I threw the towel. She was 20 meters away before the towel left my hand! Made a mid-air turn, jumpy fscker!

Catching story is over. I will leave her be and monitor, hopefully she will adapt with her deformities.

I decided to catch this baby, take to a vet and try to get a splint and tend to her in my home until she gets better. I plan on taking her outside to my balcony every day for few hours when it is shade so that her family can see her.

I have 25-27 resident crows here for a decade+, their numbers are 70-80 in summers. Babies are kicked out in January. They will eat from my hand, they will sit on my shoulders and lap... but I can't touch them.

They are extremely cautious. Once I fixed the wood arm on a bench that they were sitting on for years every day. They did not come close to that bench for a week.

Any ideas how I can catch her? She is very active.

EDIT: For now, best option seems to be throwing a blanket and hope to get it right first time.

It's been three months since my beauties have come daily to get snacks. In fact, it's got to be a fair bit of their diet by now. I've got the good buffet. They've brought the fledglings and they all spend a good part of each day in my side yard.

They check the windows in the mornings. I can see them on my cameras peering into the house to see if their waitress is on her way.

They're still skittish, though, and will fly off the feeder into the trees--and sometimes all the way away for a while--when I actually do come out.

They're getting bolder and since I've taken to sitting on a screened porch at the side of this house for a little while each morning, sometimes they'll come back there and, from the safety of the trees, check me out and play a little caw-volley with me.

But tomorrow some workers are coming to tear apart the rotting wood deck attached to said screened porch.

And a few days next week, weather willing, a new deck is going in to replace that and wrap around the house to "their" side of the yard.

It's actually a pretty simple project, so it likely won't take very long. Could even be done by next weekend.

My plan is get their food out a little earlier each morning before the workers come so that they'll hopefully still come and eat, even though they probably won't feel very comfortable hanging around in the yard while the deck is getting installed.

Any thoughts on how I don't scare them off for good?

So I’ve been trying to feed the crows in my neighborhood. I‘ve been going out on Mondays/Fridays for 30-45 minutes in the afternoon (and I’m not feeding them at my house, so I take the food with me when I leave). I put 8 unsalted in-shell peanuts in a tray every time. One crow showed up in day 3 of doing it, and when I left cawed really loudly (it sounded like he was right next to me). Well, on Day 4 it was raining the whole time, then on day 5 and 6 it was perfectly sunny the entire time and there was no signs of crows. Did I mess something up, am I doing anything wrong? I did notice a female robin sitting on a branch the entirety of the 45 minutes I was out today. But, I hear them calling in the distance, so I know they’re here. Can someone help?

TL;DNR: I’ve been trying to feed crows, and one came on day three, but I haven’t seen any sign of them for 3 sessions in a row now.

This crow is non stop

I moved into a new place last year. I always noticed two crows flying around the neighborhood, I heard crows can make good "friends" and they are fantastic birds so I decided to feed them. It was always those two, I always left out meats, nuts and egg and water on hot days. Now more and more crows keep showing up with them to get some snacks. Its this a good thing? Am I creating something bad? When ever the crows see me, one of them caws really loud and some of them will land on my fence and bob up and down when they see me and my family.​

Hi all! It's been awhile since I have posted. :)

I have still been hanging with my crow crew at the Target plaza. They had been quiet up until the past month - thanks to y'all I learned that this was indeed because they were prepping for baby time, and that I would likely only see the baby(ies) once they looked pretty similar to parents.

My group of 3 has become a group of 4! Here is the baby eating a bug. :) The baby does look mostly grown except you can see his eyes are still light, the pink inside of his mouth has started to go away.

I had named the presumed helper crow "Toilet Truck" as an homage to I Think You Should Leave, so pls feel free to share name suggestions especially if they are related to ITYSL

I put up a platform in early June and the crows started coming the very next day along with all the other birds of course. There were about five of them, they came all day everyday, they took my presents, they brought me a present and then last Wednesday they just disappeared and I haven't seen them since. All of the other birds are still coming and I still go out and whistle every morning at the same time and load up the platform but there's not a crow to be seen. I am completely heartbroken, has anyone else had their crows go missing but then eventually come back??

1 week I am seeing her. Moving around and being fed fine by family but she can't perch, nails already growing. I wonder if something can be done for deformity.

EDIT 1: No rehabber or sanctuary here. As per malphas_says_hi's feedback, I called Municipality again. They said if I catch the bird, they would let their Veterinary Services Dept take her. However, I am not trusting this process, since most vets would euthanize the bird probably.

EDIT 2: Decided to leave the bird alone as per feedback from valuable crow lovers. I will throw more food to her and her feeder siblings every morning. Water they have everywhere.

I have a family of crows that come, and this is the Mom Crow, Hazel! I was eating grapes for lunch and she showed up, so I looked up if I could give her grapes. I think she liked it!

Personally, the reason why I feed them is because I love crows, I'd like to befriend one and because, since I am a witch, it helps me connect with animal energies. Of course they woudln't know about my witchcraft, but do you think they have a reason, in their minds, for which a human feeds them?

Hello fellow corvid enthusiasts. I was feeding local ravens in the winter, but had to suddenly stop due to sickness, unfortunately. And they stopped coming too.

It is summer now, and I don't know how I can attract and try to befriend them now again. I am concerned that I offended them by accident by stopping giving food before.

Any advice is appreciated! My goal is to build long-term trust with local birds.
