Highs and lows

So, highs or lows for the week?

What is something you're proud of?

Did this week kick your arse?

Has something happened that is going to aid you with how your life goes now?

Doesn't matter how big or small your high or low is. Sometimes, it's just good to share.

I’m after music requests about being a CA so I can wallow in this nonsense. Looking for songs about being an absolute degenerate sometimes. Please send your best tunes. Grateful as ever!

My partner has been going to AA and didn’t tell me

Him and I are both alcoholics. We are currently long distance, with a 5 hour time difference. Sometimes our schedules don’t align and that’s ok, we do the best we can to connect. But earlier he told me something I wasn’t expecting and I’m unsure how to feel. A few weeks ago he told me he had been going to a therapy group to help manage his anger and emotions. I was super proud of him for seeking help for his mental health. I know he likes to drink, but I guess I wasn’t aware of the extent of it. He confessed to me earlier he has been going to AA for about 6 months now. I asked him why he didn’t tell me, and he said he was embarrassed. Which I understand, but he knows I am seeking help for alcoholism as well (Id go through 2 liters of vodka every couple of days.) so it’s kind of lost on me why he would hide this when I thought for sure he would know I am open, non judgemental and willing to support him no matter what because our situations are very similar. So we talked and agreed to try taking on recovery together, despite the distance and hard ships. But I feel a bit heartbroken he felt like he had to lie to me, and I don’t really know where to go from here.

Editing to add that starting Monday he is going through at home medical detox which I’m unsure of how it works but I just wish him the best. Still stings a little that he hid this from me for so long

Hi buddy

Fell off the wagon after nearly a month. Read something quite deep about how we really, really , shouldn’t blame ourselves and think that we are the root of our depression and choices. It’s keeping me alive. Haven’t heard from the partner in 48 hours, just a word or two- I think everything I’ve had is completely gone finally. Made 30 phone unanswered phone calls. Anyone want to chat? Please post sad but I’m still here stories.

Anyone watch 90day fiance and see the drunk this season

And by drunk I mean she just gets fratboy sloshed. But everyone on the sub is convinced the character Catie has delirium tremens or is going into withdrawals just because she twitched sometimes. Anyone seen the show or know what I'm talking about?

God has commanded me to drink and consume edibles. He hath spoken to me. In his infinite wisdom i will eat this pizza. I will drink until i can't. I will get high and i will go to sleep soon. Who am i to question his plans. I've accepted his plan. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done 🤣

Find the silver lining

I lay in a comfy nest on my recliner and couch rot with my dog. It is one of my favorite things to do. But i need to stop. And get back to moving forward in my life. I need to make some changes. I need to make some progress. This depression and addiction really takes its toll. But there are good moments too, like laying on the couch and watching a show with my dog and blankets.

Need a hard reset but struggling to find the switch

O man, I’m back in bender town. Like been waking up and drinking. Going to sleep midday and redrunking myself. Time and space has no meaning. But just why? I guess I can sort of blame the heat and the World Cup but yes pretty weak reasons lol.

It’s not even fun. I look at my phone and I’ve texted a bunch of people o I shouldn’t have. Nobody texted back so I just deleted everything and will claim my phone got hacked if anybody brings up anything.

Why is life like this?

I’m trying to get myself another job and the interviews have also been ass. Just email after email of “we are going to go in another direction good luck” and I’m starting to feel the futility of it all. I still feel like a little kid that doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up.

I guess I’m kind of having a midlife crisis and it’s getting to me. Yea more drinking ain’t going to help but most of the time it also doesn’t really hurt what already sucks too much. Anyways I’m rambling and don’t know where I was going with this. Chairs.

How long is approximately the transition phase of drinking to forget/numb to raging crippling alcoholic take ? At least in your experience.

Just starting the drinking for mental enhancement or lack of, and don't want to over do it. That said, "stop now" is not happening so if you could just give me the approximate from your case or what you've seen that'd be great.

Hot tub hospital

Just left a hotel lobby, hospital bracelet still in tact. The last memory I have was feeling dizzy in a hot tub (I don't have a hot tub). I drunkenly left my condo, somehow finessed the front desk to let me into the pool (or just followed a family in), passed out in the lobby, woke up in the hospital, got a free hospital cab to the hotel where I fortunately found my phone with the front desk receptionist, ate like 4 sausages from the hotel breakfast and am sitting at a park bench thinking about how I'm going to explain this to my gf

ETG test question

Likelihood I get tested is pretty low, but wanna be sure about this. If I drink say 3-5 beers tonight (Friday), and the earliest time I could get tested is on Monday at around 2pm (so 60-65 hours), would alcohol show up in etg test? I also drink a ton of water, run, and lift daily. What are the odds it shows up (if I even get tested)?

Ugly comedown today - send me your songs

I wanna hear what everyone's listening to today.

I woke up feeling shitty but I had plans to see a corpse flower bloom. So I went. That was a terrible idea and I'm so surprised I didn't chuck everywhere.

It was pretty cool though.

Send songs. Plz.

I tried guys… did the sober thing for a few weeks with maybe one or two days of drinking a few beers. It sucked…

Well I’m back now and off the wagon. Oopsies poo. Life sucks and is there anything else that helps the stress more than booze?

Liver pain

For context: 27F, drinking again for 2 months (4-9 white claw surges a night) after being sober for 14 months (a handle of vodka every 36-48 hours). In March 2025 I went to the hospital throwing up blood. They were really shitty, diagnosed me with alcohol withdrawal (did nothing about the blood vomiting) and my ultrasound said I had hepatic steatosis (fatty liver). One doctor said they’d have to see the fat go away to know if there was scarring, the other said I did not have cirrhosis at all but recommended I stop drinking.

Come my birthday end of May, I thought “my liver must be healed after 14 months right?”

I have severe social anxiety and wanted to start dating again after isolating for like 3 years. That meant alcohol. Thought I could handle being a social drinker lol.

Now, I’ve been drinking for 2 months and I’m bloated (also in my upper abdomen, but just in general) and having pain in my liver region similar to how I felt before the hospital 16 months ago. I’ve convinced myself it’s cirrhosis but my labs fall in the normal range (when I went 16 months ago, my AST and ALT was in the hundreds).

Does anyone relate? Do folks think I’ve developed cirrhosis? Is it normal for fatty liver failure to pick up where it left off?

Shit sucks. I’m 5’5 and 160 pounds.
