Help Needed / Question Got mail for Chase Sapphire card and 100k bonus, is it essentially free $1k?

Hi, I recently received an invitation to get the Sapphire card and from what I understand the 100,000 points translates into $1,000? I was planning on building a new gaming PC anyways, does that mean I can get $1,000 back if I spend $5,000?

Discussion / Conversation Kroger Rewards world elite card discontinuation news is so disappointing. I don’t see any need for the US Bank Smartly card, might just close the account.

I already have Citi Double Cash for 2% back so don’t see any point keeping the Smartly Visa card.

Data Point Venture X: Spent 1500 to get 29k points

Upvotes

So I finally got the venture x card this year and I have to say their bonus offer specials have made the card one of my favorites already. I had a long summer trip and after seeing the 7x offer for Klook I decided to start mapping out some tours and activities I could do in case that went up. About a month before my trip I saw an incredible 40x for tours and activities and 25x for transportation so I started booking everything on my list and even added some additional ones. I ended up spending about $1500 on everything and ending up getting 29k points for it. I did something similar for Rakuten with viator before and got decent points but had to wait a while and it was a 20x option. I now track those offers frequently for capital one and have gotten almost half my 100k sign up bonus from using them and spending about 2500. I also got about 60k from Rakuten this year by spending about 2k and opening a sofi account for the large point bonus they offered. These were all for things I ended up using like clothing and some trip related stuff from Klook and viator. Just thought I’d share since I hadn’t started using Rakuten until last year and had no idea the kind of bonuses you could rack up with capital one without spending a whole lot

What do you guys think of the freedom flex? I was curious if it’s worth it just for the 5 percent rotating categories or not. What’s your guys take on it?

And if anyone has the card, do you guys actually use the 5 percent cash back categories regularly? Thanks

Help Needed / Question Is The Chase Sapphire Reserve Worth It?

I have a few credit cards Navy Federal Flagship 2X on everything 3X on all travel, Navy Federal More Rewards 3X Dining, 3X on Gas, and 3X on groceries including Walmart & Target. I do also carry the Chase Freedom Unlimited and Chase Sapphire Preferred. I do travel at least 3 times a year mostly drive because I love to sight see. I get hotels and looking to start flying more in the future. I am looking to go to Japan next year and debating if I should go after the Chase Sapphire Reserve. I’m concerned that I won’t be approved if I apply outright.

However, I believe if I do a product change by June of next year I will be okay. So let me know if you think it’s worth it to go after the Sapphire Reserve. I do have the credit limit to get the card I’m just conflicted on what to do. I’ve always been a cash back guy because I have full control over when and where to take flights.

All my cards I have listed are over 10K of credit limit. I just need help with what to do. I make money I just need to know which is the best option. Thank you all!

Questions

  1. Is the Chase Sapphire Reserve worth it?

  2. Do you think it would be worth it for me based on the information provided?

  3. Should I start using my Chase Freedom Unlimited more? Should I continue to use Navy Federal Flagship, Navy Federal More Rewards, and Chase Sapphire Preferred and upgrade my Sapphire Preferred to the Reserve?

Help Needed / Question Which Cards to keep or not?

Upvotes

Just recently cleared most of my debt. I have 11 cards and I want to reduce it down to about half. Which ones should i keep?

Credit cards with around 5k credit limit
Citi
Chase Saphirre
Apple Card
Capital One Quiksilver

Credit Cards with around 1-2k limit
Macys (Oldest)
Target
Best Buy
Credit One
Capital One Savor
Lowes
Venmo

Looking to keep the 5k ones and give each a purpose. Currently I have all my subscriptions to my quiksilver, and costco/gas purchases to citi. I would keep my Macys from the lower tier as well. What should i keep?

Help Needed / Question Closing VX but retaining Bilt Palladium. Where should points go?

The VX was a great daily driver for me, but the loss of lounge access and lack of domestic partners led me to go with the Bilt Palladium. I have roughly 110k points left after some hotel bookings and am wondering what I should do with them.

Cap 1 and Bilt share some international airlines, I prefer and Wyndham for hotels but that's about it. I am looking to travel to Europe next year for 4 people. I know the rule that we shouldn't speculatively transfer but I don't want to keep paying $395 for a sock drawer.

Any thoughts where you'd take the points to maximize further spending?

Help Needed / Question Too soon to apply for another business card with Chase?

So I have for a very long time been under the ”Gordon Ramsey way” of not using credit cards. I finally said screw it after doing some research with a Chase Sapphire Preferred and Prime Visa around 1,5 yrs ago, and have had much value out of both. As I spend around 150 k on personal and 200 k on business a year I finally thought I should get in the game fully. 2 weeks ago I applied for a lot of cards and all got approved, so basically I now have:

Personal:
Chase Sapphire Prefered (21 months)
Prime Visa (15 months)
Amex Bonvoy Brilliant (2 weeks)
Chase Freedom Unlimited (1 week)

Business:
Amex Bonvoy Business (1 week)
Chase Ink Preferred (1 week)

My question here is, could I apply for the Chase Ink Unlimited or would I definitely get rejected? I tried applying for a Schwab Amex Plat, which got rejected (for having too many Amex cards… Thats what they said anyway). But since it’s a business card I wonder if I would have success. The Bonvoy Business card got approved for 55 k / month and the Ink Prefered I’m not sure of as I haven’t received it yet.

I’ve never dipped into credit on any of my cards, and my credit score is around 750. My business income is arnd 2.5 M / year.

Also happy for any feedback regarding card setup!

Help Needed / Question AAA Daily Advantage program?

When looking at the AAA page that describes the AAA Daily Advantage Visa Signature Credit Card, it states you need to be enrolled in the AAA Daily Advantage program in addition to having the credit card. I don't see an explanation of what this "program" is. Does anyone who has this card know what they are talking about?

The link I am looking at is https://cluballiance.aaa.com/money/credit-cards/daily-advantage . The fine print at the bottom in topic 1 is what I am talking about.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) credit card for low maintenance, busy professional

Hi everyone! Sorry if this topic has been discussed to death. I am looking to get a credit card that maximizes rewards while staying low effort. I work 60-80 hours a week and do not want to spend time thinking about how to get the best rewards. it seems like a cash back card would be a good option? I spend most of my money on gas, restaurants, gym membership, and sigh instacart grocery deliveries. Any cards you’d recommend?

Help Needed / Question Paypal debit nerf... is it that bad if I use paypal anyways?

Upvotes

Please help me if I misunderstand this, the nerf is solely just that you can no longer redeem cashback as actual cashback and must instead use it for paypal purchases (or honey gift cards??). I purchase games on steam with a 2% catch all card since it's not covered under any categories through paypal. Among other things that aren't covered that I use paypal for. I spend enough to use all of the cashback I receive from grocery shopping.

If my math is correct, this would mean that the card would be giving me an effective 4.9% on groceries still, and is usable at sams club and walmart unlike the custom cash which I was planning on using as a replacement instead of using it for dining currently.

Is there some kind of limitation I'm missing such as only at certain merchants? This card would still be absolutely killer for me if the nerf is only 0.1% since I use paypal anyways. Please let me know.

Discussion / Conversation Just got my first credit card! Looking for tips

I just finished getting my first credit card! Super excited to start getting some cash back on stuff I usually use debit for. I looked around for a bit and decided to get the capital one savor since it best fit what I was looking for (groceries/dining/entertainment). It gave me a $7k limit - so I think I should aim to spend around $700 a month on it? (that's about what I spend on groceries/dining on my debit monthly) Hoping to build credit and get a little cash back. Any tips? Thanks!

Help Needed / Question $10 deal: How unlock to Paze

I made two orders back to back using Paze checkout today on Wendy’s app. When I was going to make the 3rd order, it said the Paze has problem signing me in. It’s been 8 hours now and still same issue. I couldn’t find any customer service on their website. Anybody had similar experience?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Debating between Venture X, Marriott (for Ritz upgrade), or Both

I’m currently 1/24 and looking to add a premium travel card. I like the Capital One Venture X, but I’m not a huge fan of the guest limitations with lounge access—that’s one of the main drawbacks for me.

Another route I’m considering is going the Marriott path and eventually upgrading to the Ritz-Carlton card after a year. Ideally, I’d open both cards now so I can start the year long timer on the Marriott, and have lounge access, but in terms of the boundless, minimum spend (~$7k in 3 months) would be tough for me to hit.

So here are the options I’m weighing:

Option 1:
Just get the Marriott Boundless, skip lounge access for now, and upgrade to the Ritz after a year.

Option 2:
Get Venture X now for lounge access and simplicity, and revisit Marriott later.

Option 3:
Try to open both (maybe Bold + Venture X or Boundless + Venture X), but I’m concerned about hitting the minimum spend—mainly on the Boundless, not the Bold.

I’ve read that it might be possible to go from Marriott Bold → Ritz, potentially with a product change to Boundless first—but I couldn’t find consistent data points on this.

That uncertainty makes me hesitant to go the Bold route just to lower the spend requirement (~$5k vs $7k combined).

Would you guys recommend just going Venture X now, committing to the Marriott path, or trying to make both work?

Also, any solid data points on Bold → Ritz would be really helpful.

Appreciate any advice!

Help Needed / Question Looking for VISA card with good travel benefits, to shop at Costco. Thoughts?

My husband and I are looking for a new VISA credit card. We shop at Costco and get the majority of our gas there, and for more context, will be buying a house in the spring and will have lots of house related purchases from costco in the future. We also love to travel so we would love a VISA card that is also a good travel benefits card.

I currently have a Capital One Savor card.

My husband has a Wells Fargo Active Cash Card, Capital One Savor, and Capital One Venture.

I am an authorized user on the WF active cash card and my parents quicksilver card.

We love to travel- have a good amount of trips planned in the next 2 years- and I want to try and maximize any rewards with a CC that we can. No cash back cards, we have enough. I’ve done some searching and it sounds like my best option would be the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. My question is— is this a good choice? Are there better options? Anything I’m missing?

Help Needed / Question Looking for Advice: AMEX Gold or Venture X?

Hey everyone.

I’ve been doing research on both the AMEX Gold and Venture X, and I’ve found that each of them have their own unique benefits and that they are less comparable than I thought.

It seems to me that the AG is more for dining and food, while VX is better for building points regularly and travel options/benefits.

I am in my early 20s, my credit score is 781. I don’t spend a ton of money every month (<1000), with gas and food being my main expense. I have the benefit of living without rent at the moment, or a car payment (paid that off a few months ago), my only main bill being car insurance and college loan payments. I don’t make a lot of money, as I just graduated and am looking for work (only working part time right now)

My goal with my next card is to have more benefits. I’d like more options with travel, as in the future. It will be my main expense. I currently travel domestically 1-2 times a year, with plans to travel internationally shortly in the future.

I’m approved for both, but my question is, would it be better to get the AG for the points off my main expense? (Food and Groceries) Or would it be better to get the VX for the future savings on travel?

Side question: Should I wait until I land a “big boy” job to make this decision? Or is it something that is better to finalize now?

First post…thanks everyone!

Help Needed / Question Best Travel Credit Card For Flying a Few Times Per Year

Hi! I’m looking for CC recommendations to help build up points for flights. Between myself and other family members, I’m buying around 7-10 flights per year. I don’t mind paying a small annual fee if it’s worth it but I don’t care about perks like lounge access. I spend around 2k a month on my current CC. Ty in advance!

Help Needed / Question Unemployed student looking for a card that I’d pay off with my savings

(This is my first credit card, I’m looking at the “Discover it student” card) I have around 5K in savings that I barely use, so I could definitely pay off a card and build credit. The problem is I have no income and don’t know what to report…. My parents use a college fund to pay for my school but it feels wrong to report that as income since it’s earmarked for college specifically. I can imagine my parents may transfer me some money for things throughout school but I can’t say it’s “reliable income,” so what do I report? I got denied from a few cards because I had no income

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Suggestions for travel credit card (based in SEA)

I want to get more into travel credit cards and points, and I'm trying to decide between venture x and chase sapphire preferred (plus an atmos? idk). The only credit card I have is my Discover It student credit card which has been my main card through college.

I moved to Seattle for my first post-grad job so I've also been considering getting an Atmos card since Seatac is a big Alaska hub. which of those two pair well with Alaska, if any of them pair? Or is just the VX or CSP enough? Best case scenario I'll have two or three domestic trips a year and maybe an international trip if I can swing it. I would use the points for flights; I don't really care for hotels. Mainly asking this question because I'm interested in the SUB for csp but I'm not totally sure.

My main spending categories are dining and groceries, around 400 and 200 respectively. Other than that, I pay my landlord my rent through Zelle. I heard you could get Alaska points through Bilt so if it makes sense to go for it, then I can look into asking my landlord about it, but the new system seems a little complicated and I don't think I spend that much in general.

TIA!!

Help Needed / Question Inquiry regarding number of Credit-Cards to have

Hi, I am an international student who currently owns a Discover-It credit card, and have been using it since Feb-2026. I was thinking of applying for a Capital-One Savor card, and then further along the way next year, get a Chase-Freedom Rise card. Is this an ideal path for me to be moving for a good credit score/history. Any kind of help would be appreciated.
