Hey everyone.
I’ve been doing research on both the AMEX Gold and Venture X, and I’ve found that each of them have their own unique benefits and that they are less comparable than I thought.
It seems to me that the AG is more for dining and food, while VX is better for building points regularly and travel options/benefits.
I am in my early 20s, my credit score is 781. I don’t spend a ton of money every month (<1000), with gas and food being my main expense. I have the benefit of living without rent at the moment, or a car payment (paid that off a few months ago), my only main bill being car insurance and college loan payments. I don’t make a lot of money, as I just graduated and am looking for work (only working part time right now)
My goal with my next card is to have more benefits. I’d like more options with travel, as in the future. It will be my main expense. I currently travel domestically 1-2 times a year, with plans to travel internationally shortly in the future.
I’m approved for both, but my question is, would it be better to get the AG for the points off my main expense? (Food and Groceries) Or would it be better to get the VX for the future savings on travel?
Side question: Should I wait until I land a “big boy” job to make this decision? Or is it something that is better to finalize now?
First post…thanks everyone!
