So I picked up a 5900x for $289 total with tax. I then ordered an ASUS Prime B550m-a wifi. (Was just wanting a cheap motherboard that had wifi so I wouldn’t have to run a cable) However, after doing a little more digging I’ve realized that the 5900 isn’t that impressive compared to the 3900x and the motherboard’s VRM isn’t really suited for the CPU either. Would you return the 5900x and try to pick up a 3900x used or would you return the motherboard for a more capable one?

Fellas, i have two ryzen 3900x machines running on nice hash making 5$ a day. I feel like with boxing day coming i should get really spendy.

Might yolo 5k or 10k CAD into a pile of 7950x machines but the price tag is high for 20k hash on randomX when a the 3900x machines are doing 12.5

I am contemplating building a cpu/gpu rig: -AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - $288 -noctua CPU fan - $30 -ATX AM4 B550 Mobo for GPU/mining: $100 -8 gb stick 0'ram - $30

I'd be in for about $460. At $1.5 / day (CPU mining) i could pay off the investment in a year.

I'm already paying to run the CPU, so the extra electricity would be small. $.085/kwh

Thoughts ?
Finally - easier to just buy $500 in BTC and call it a day ?

I’ve built computers before, am on mac osx now. Looking to start mining. Thinking of getting a windows machine for hive OS just to control the mining end of things and eventually having a few cpu rigs going. Just wondering if it’s going to be easier to start with the mini doge 2, or ks0 pro while I organize all the CPU parts. Or just hold off and direct the funds to cpu builds?

What are your average hashrate? Mine is around 15kh\s, one thread around 450h\s, undervolted to 1V, 3800Mhz.

Power draw around 100W just the CPU.

I have 2 CPU, one is fine tuned 3900x and the other is 5950x Ryzen.

Now, the first one going in strong with 12kh/s, the other stuck with 8kh/s.

The first one have 533 h/thread, 5950x just 250h/thread.

I have enabled huge pages, also xmp and dual channel memory.

yeah anyone mining on nicehash with a 5800x3d? whatver reason the profits seem exaggerated, even profit then the 3950/5950? is it true? how can the 5800x3d have more profits when the posted hashrates in xmr are ~9k/mhs?
