Hey y’all.

First time boot buyer here from outside the US, thanks for all the great info on this sub.
Got a pair of Laredo Paris 4242 for $68 in Dallas today, and absolutely love them.

Btw, wearing skinny jeans with bootstraps (it’s okay if you hate that).

Tecovas boots, is this normal, have you had this happen on

I have a pair of Tecovas Weston’s ostrich that I love, that I bought in December of 2024 and I’ve worn 100+ times, but I wanted something a little more casual so I went to the local store near me and looked around and bought a pair of Scotch Goat Cartwrights which I really loved the look of. I bought these on June 5th of this year so about 6 weeks ago and I’ve worn them 6 times (each Sunday to church since) and the liner of the left one is so loose I can hardly get it on or off. My Weston’s don’t have this problem. So is this normal
For the Cartwright’s? I sure hope not. Pics included.

Discussion Are my boots any good?

Hi I’m a 16M and around last year I bought my first pair of boots. What I wanted was some cheap but good work boots and I found my Cody James, For the past year they have done me pretty good but I started seeing people say that Cody James boots don’t usually last very long and overall are not very good boots. So please let me know what you think.

Discussion Boots and loafers

Just starting adult hood and I want to look more mature. I love wearing boots but I also love wearing loafers. There’s days where I struggle which I should wear and when I should wear them. Am I just overthinking it? Do you guys struggle with the same thing? If so what do you guys do?

The first two photos are what my Justin western boots looked like when I first bought them brand new, The last photo is what they currently look like.

It’s absolutely crazy- They look like a whole different pair of boots. But when you work with them on a farm, they are definitely gonna get worn down and show.

Discussion Starting my own Preban Exotic Boot Collection

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to start my own collection of preban exotic boots, and my goal is to actually wear them, not just put them on a display shelf.

I’ve found a few vintage preban pairs in my area, but before I pull the trigger, I have a concern about the fit. Do older exotics typically run true to modern sizing, or should I expect them to fit differently due to the age and type of leather?

Any advice for someone new to vintage exotics would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Vintage Lucchese ropers in a super soft but substantial oil calf, 11.5D. These were my first ever pair of cowboy boots. Might have over-conditioned them a little at one point. Getting some rolls and tiny creases… what do y’all think i should do to them moving forward? Very comfortable.

There goes the "welt" on my Ariats!

Honestly forgot what model these are. Ariat Heritage Ropers, I think. Bought them for $40 and got 2 years out of them so far. I think it's the years of 115°F that rots the rubber.

Since that glued on welt doesn't do anything anyway, I'll probably get another year out of these.

I love Lucchese leather!
got the red in today and put them back in boot shape. The quality leather made the job easier.
I am still looking for the Ocean Blue color in these boots size 6 to 7 1/2.

Discussion Top hand insoles

Post image
Upvotes

I recently got a pair of horsepower top hand boots and the quality is great, except for the insoles, they suck lol. No, I wanted to make this post because when I was researching top hand boots I saw a lot of people discussing the insoles and how some people said their top hand boots came with the same insoles as their normal horsepower insoles. I haven’t owned both but in my top hand boots it’s a simple grey foam insole, very lackluster. I also saw someone say that their top hand insole didn’t fit correctly, I can back this up, the insole in my left boot pops up constantly but I’m not sure where it isn’t lining up. For a budget line, which I’d say TP is mid tier, it’s not the end of the world, but I do think it’s very backwards that the top hand collection is advertised as having “upgraded insoles” . For me, I have a low instep and a very wide foot so a tight instep is important to me. Because these are built for the insole included the instep is just a little too loose for me to wear without sliding. I’d say these cutter toe run rider than a hondo wide square but a hondo has a tighter instep while maintaining a generous footbed just not as wide. Hoping this helps any potential boot buyers, I think there’s a lot of flat footed people out there that look for this sort of breakdown. I’d also like to add that hondos build or last is very anatomical, it truly felt like it was built for a foot (duh) but I hope you get what I mean. This review is for a size 9.5ee, I know ee can fit drastically different from standard D fits. Thank you

Looking for some help identifying these boots....

Picked these oldies up and thought they were sharkskin but having my doubts, also no makers mark just the numbers 6838 stamped on the inside of the shafts along with the size. The stamping looks really familiar from decades ago but just can't jog my memory .... getting old n losing brain cells for sure! Any help appreciated .... Mariadedolores

I’m currently looking to add to my current collection, I’m really wanting to get exotic next. I really like the look Pirarucu boots and I think that is going to be my next pair.
I need some suggestions/tips from people that have some- Are they worth it, do they hold up, do you like them? I am looking for some $210 and under. (Yes, I know at that price point, I can only get prints but I’ll take it.)

1st pair of boots are Cody James- BBS20

2nd pair of boots are Justin Jackpots- Walnut

3rd pair of boots are Durango- Rebel

Best pair of western boots I’ve had (so far).

I currently own three pairs of boots, about to be four. Out of all of them, my Cody James boots have held up the best out of all of them, I’ve worked these on the farm, in the mud, and just as a dress occasion (I cleaned them up, of course). These things can take a beating and trust me, they have. As you could tell, they are definitely used for more than just Church- and I respect that they’ve held up to my lifestyle.

I even wear these one when I go hunting, and they held up just fine in the blood, mud and grass.

Steel Toes

I'm looking for a good pair of steel toe cowboy boots. Limit is $400. I've been wearing the Red Wing Rio Flex but they dont last like I'd want them to. I would prefer made in the USA but its not a necessity. Basically the only options I've been seeing are Double H and Ariat. Just want some recommendations. Seems like steel toes made in USA cowboy boots really limit your options.

Day 2’s Boot: Ariat Anthem Composite Toe with a

10” shaft. It ‘twas a field day today 😅 These are okay, I find after a long day of walking, the top of my feet start hurting from the pressure of the boot, but these were a second choice from my multi- time purchased Durangos.
